  1. That's the worry for me too. It also makes guys like Tom Thibodeau be really interested in the job. I also have to admit that Mitchell has seemed to make some real strides as a coach as the season has progressed. That final play call to KAT for the game winner was impressive.
  2. It's totally legit. He's been making all of the little plays (tipping rebounds to teammates, making the right pass, not committing a foul every other possession etc.) to go along with being on fire from 3 and playing solid defense. Jim Peterson can't say enough good things about him during the games lately. I'm really intrigued by how good of a player Belly can be if he continues to play with this confidence.
  3. If guys who are supposed to hit actually hit, that lineup isn't really all that bad. I do agree that Rosario probably shouldn't be hitting 2nd though.
  4. I'm expecting a win and a good performance from Nolasco. 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 Ks, 3 BBs. Twins win 4 to 2.
  5. Good to see a nice season debut by Tyler Jay. I can see him putting up some really good numbers in the FSL this year.
  6. Karl Anthony Towns for the win! Really nice win on the road tonight against a good Blazers team.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing Kepler play. Hopefully he's in the lineup more often than not during his stay. It seems a little funny now how some were wondering where Kepler would get his opportunity this year with all of the OF options the Twins have.
  8. I don't know where everyone is getting the long reliever thing. I didn't see that comment from TR, and I think it's pretty obvious that May is going to be pitching late in close games.
  9. Last night's out to Gordon is a HR in Target Field, right? I might be overestimating the wind and the different left fields though.
  10. I should have caught that. I usually forget how much actual discussion happens in game threads.
  11. It didn't really affect last night's game, as they got out of the 7th ok, but I see what you mean in general with making him unavailable for the next game. I think as the season goes on, he's going to be the 7th or 8th one inning at a time guy.
  12. Michael Saunders' career OPS is .683, and he's started every game so far in a corner outfield spot for the best offense in baseball.
  13. I meant regular starters who would ideally bat 9th.
  14. Those 2 inning stints were in close games. He's not a long reliever. He's the 7th inning guy under normal circumstances. And of course Berrios and Duffey are included in the abundance of starters thinking.
  15. I agree, but what happened last year set up his role this year. I still think May could go back to starting next year if a rotation spot is open.
  16. It could be argued that Pillar, Goins, and Saunders are all best suited in the 8 or 9 hole. Rosario also had a 99 OPS+ with that obp last year too.
  17. It's a year to year thing. The Twins had an abundance of starters, and a need in the back end of the bullpen. May showed he can handle that role, so the decision was made to put him where he could help the team the most for this year.
  18. Every team, including the Jays, will have 2 or 3 guys who should probably bat 9th.
  19. I still think it will be a very good lineup. One key, of course, is Brian Dozier having more ABs like he did yesterday, especially the taking more walks part.
  20. Going up against a very homer prone pitcher...Better get Sano out of the lineup. Also going up against a very good contact hitting team...Better put our best defensive outfielder on the bench.
  21. Our old friend, Mike Pelfrey, made his first start of the season for the Tigers this afternoon. 3.2 IP, 6 ER. The only thing that would have made this a more enjoyable debut would have been if he gave those runs up to a team other than the Yankees.
  22. I get that. I was just talking about the injury risk part of it though. Also, there's not someone defending you in the outfield or trying to tackle you, so the shagging fly balls in bp comparison to practicing shooting is kind of like practicing free throws. It's roughly the same in the game as it is in bp, except for now there are consequences for missing, and there are thousands of people watching you.
  23. Is there though? Either you get hurt running into the center fielder, or you get hurt running into the wall. Am I missing something?
  24. In regards to the weight, Scwarber is also about 4 inches shorter than Sano, so that difference doesn't seem all that relevant. The defense is more concerning to me than the injury risk.
  25. Sure, it's a little more of an injury risk than him playing 3rd base, but we are just talking about professional athletes running around and catching baseballs.
