  1. Like the approach they are taking with English. I would like to see 4th outfielders of his or Granite's ilk - speed, good defense, not hapless with a bat, can come in as a sub both for defense and baserunning. Grooming them from within seems so much better than going out back to the scrapyard for Mastro, Robinson, or Schaeffer. Grossman is not a good enough fielder to be an ideal 4th outfielder.
  2. Grrene certainly looks the part - he also looks like the kind of player a team like the Twins are only going to get through the draft.
  3. I wanna know who voted Buddy Boshers! Ah, Pleiss eh? You have any loose change lying around that needs, ya know, special attention? I specialize in such, shall we say, transactions....
  4. My thoughts as well. Thought I'd missed him, but he isn't 11-50.
  5. Burdi, Light, Chargois, Melotakis, Pressly: the bullpen could be getting warmer and warmer.
  6. #1 overall draft pick ... mmmmmm. Be good, be bad, but never mediocre.
  7. Yaah, this is incredibad. My nephew could do a better job than PM. I was charitable up until a few weeks ago, but he is just bad.
  8. Suzuki pinch hitting for Vargas - more assinine managing.
  9. Brooks Pounders. He and Buddy Boshers could be the cornerstones of the silly bullpen.
  10. Just what the doctor ordered and then some. Could be a transformative hire for the organization, as long as they let him do his job.
  11. Well, if we don't win it's a shame. Hardly worth losing sleep over Masochism sounds much worse.
  12. I can only hope our new chief executive might have the level of critical acumen that most you folks at TD seem to have. Molly ain't dumb, but he is just a bad manager, period. To clarify, given the Twins situation, we need a manger who will help develop young players, and get the fundamentals sound. Sounds like TK.
  13. Taking Berrios out now? Well played Cretin, well played. This team ain't going nowhere with him in charge. Bert just crucified PM.
  14. Dammit Jose, just trust your stuff tonight, relax out there and have fun.
  15. Sounds like Falvey has even more experience than Andy did, and given his knowledge of the modern game, why not? Then again, monkeys might fly out of Rob Antony's butt.
  16. Shoring up the defense and the fundamentals could shave 1/2 a run off the team ERA. Errors are deflating to a pitcher, and a team as a whole. If Turner or Garver is our best defensive catcher, they should get the job. Add maybe a mild hitting defensive wizard at short(Vielma?), and with Buxton, you got some spine in your defense.
  17. Class of 2012: 2 Buxton 32 Berrios 37 Light - BOS 42 Bard 63 Melatokis 72 Chargois 97 Walker 160 Duffey 310 Baxendale 340 Rogers WE've already got more out of that draft than one would eapect, with quite a bit of potential going forward.
  18. I hope he gets a Ron Meshbesher to plead his case, because, to quote Dan Rather, "The people of Washington could not be more surprised if Fidel Castro came loping across the midwestern prairie on the back of a hippopotamus."
  19. Advanced stats are like magic. I keep reading what a crap defender Dozier is, but when I watch, he seems to make a lot of very good plays. Now I'm seeing the same with Polanco: been watching a fair amount lately. and have actually been impressed with his play at short, especially given the circumstances. I must need glasses.
  20. My hope is that th Twins will one day return to being an organization that relies on guys they've drafted and developed as opposed to the AAAA filler they've relied on thru these dark years. Hopefully Wiel can be part of this.
  21. The lad just turned 22 in May. He is averaging nearly a K per inning. He's having huge growing pains, as is Buxton, but holy crap, these guys gonna be good at 25. We have prospects in the system that are that old, or older. I'm still bullish on his future.
  22. Props to Jeremy for nailing this scenario back in July.
  23. Beats having Dan Serafini and Jay Bell as your studs in waiting, or Ryan Mills. They've produced quality here and there, Erickson, Baker, Slowey, Garza.... Internally I'd call the current system pitching rich, compared to, well, pretty much any other era of Twins baseball.
