  1. I guess my point was I don't see why it's such an insult to say he compares to Baker is all. We'll see how it works, but the person I was responding to seemed to think it was an outrage to compare him to Baker as if baker was some kind of scrub. He wasn't.
  2. Hicks is better OF, and he has a better arm, IMO. That's why, when Buxton comes up, I'd move Hicks to RF and have Arcia in LF. When we were in the dome, LF was harder to play than RF due to the lights being right in your face and more room to roam. RF had the baggy but less room to roam. Most parks, however, make it necessary to have your worst OF in LF, though Target field is very close in terms of room to roam, with LF only having a little bit more space. The arm is the biggest factor for TF.
  3. I agree. I'd rather have Hicks in RF and Arcia in LF than the other way around.
  4. I don't see why Baker is such a bad comparison. Baker had the stuff for sure to be a good number two and he had a couple years where he lived up to that. My issue with him is that I often doubted his toughness on the mound. Seemed eager to be pulled when things got rough; however, if talking just stuff, if Gibson has his kind of stuff, that's be a good thing. IMO.
  5. From Rhett Bollinger. Twins MLB dot com write, who gets his info from the Twins, posted this: 'The Twins kept preaching that they wanted more consistency out of Gibson earlier in the year, as he didn't turn in back-to-back quality starts until mid-May. But he's now strung together four straight quality starts and has a 2.35 ERA over his last nine outings with two shutouts. The deadline for Super Two status also passed, so if the Twins were holding him back for that reason, they don't have to worry about an extra year of arbitration anymore. Now, it'll be interesting to see how he's handled in the Majors, as he's expected to still be on an innings limit this year because he's coming off Tommy John surgery. Heading into the season, Gibson was expected to be limited to about 130-140 innings.' Inbox: Could Twins be buyers at Trade Deadline? | twinsbaseball.com: News
  6. Except that there's plenty of baseball being talked, just not the way you want it talked. Are you surprised that after two consecutive seasons of being the worst team in the American League, there's negativity? Personally, I don't think I fall into the category of always negative or always positive. There are good things going on and bad things going on. All of it should be discussed honestly.
  7. I get that, and it's your site. You guys certainly have the right to boot people off as you see fit.
  8. Or that the constant defenders of the FO, Pohlads and Gardy are quicker to report 'negative' posts because they conflict with their own opinions and can hide that real reason by complaining how 'negative' they are. Personal attacks should be reported, no doubt. 'Negative' posts should be debated. Rah Rah posts are just as detrimental as 'negative' posts because they hide the problems that should be discussed.
  9. The weirdest part is, reading both posts, is that Glunn is MUCH quicker with the warnings and such than Brock. Yet, reading their philosophical posts, you'd think it'd be the other way around.
  10. I'd be happy with the May line too.
  11. Yes, he has zero business playing OF. Backup catcher and DH should be it for him.
  12. There's little to no consistency when it comes to warnings and bannings and such. The fact that those posts are still on this thread and the people who posted them didn't get warnings and their posts deleted speaks volumes. I've gotten warnings for stuff much, much tamer.
  13. It will be nice to see him pitch here...even if it's only for a few games. It's good he's getting some time now. I think it helps for next year.
  14. Yeah, it's just ridiculous. People show their complete ignorance when they make posts like that. Thanks for finding it and posting it.
  15. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless one of the moderators says something.
  16. I still can't find it...but here's a post from some maroon on the Twins MLB message board: 'He is worthless, pathetic and a wimp in late innings. Catchers are supposed to be tough. Always trying to draw a walk in late innings when the game on the line. Of course, his homerun at his first AB in the game was a solo home run which he swung at the first pitch. What a waste of an investment to Mauer and Morneau. Check this out M & M boys hogging up 46.00 % of team's pay roll but produced only 23.04 % of team's RBI and 16 % of Team's home runs. Just RUBBISH !! Absolute GARBAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' IMO, people who write stuff like this are the worst kind of fans.
  17. Do you have a link from the Star Tribune that says that?
  18. I appreciate the info you were able to provide.
  19. So we got at least one top 30 prospect for each of the last four years? You get that I'm not attacking you right? I'm just looking for info I didn't have from someone who did.
