    Laudner had 77 HR, not 74 and Mauer has 25 more HRs than Laudner, not 14 more. I'm pretty sure if he meant home run hitter he would have said that instead of power hitter. Mauer also has almost 3 times as many doubles as Laudner and 4 times as many triples.

    Concerning payroll driving ticket prices: Miami has the 10 largest average ticket price and they are 2nd to last in payroll. Houston has the 9th largest average ticket price, but last in payroll. Twins are have the 7th highest average ticket price, and we're in the bottom 3rd in MLB for team payroll

    wRC is a good one. It's a counting stat. I also like RC27. Both take into account playing time.

    I don't even get the math on that one. Why would 5-8M for 3-4 players be too much for the Twins to spend? That's, at most, 32M, right? That's not a lot. They can easily do that. We do more than 32M now for only two players. We have 3 position players making at least 7M right now.

    He's only struck out 11 times this month over the course of 19 games. He had 18 in 23 games in April and 38 in May. Could very well be, May was just a fluke month as far as Ks go and he's back on his normal track. Of course, May was also his best month of the season, by far in BA, OBP and SLG%.

    Because, as was said more eloquently earlier by Brock, not making an out is the most important thing. Outs are precious commodities.

    When we are talking salary...what a player is worth...we also need to consider what kind of fan draw they are. In other words, since the owners are paying the player, when they pay a player they have to consider on-field and off-field value. Last year, according to Fangraphs, Mauer was worth 21.5M. Just for on-field. He's having a better year this year in most regards.

    He's doing very well away from Coors as well. If his OPS away from Coors was his season OPS, he would rank 7th in the NL for OFs, and 2nd in the AL for OFs. And most players do better at home anyway. That's not to say that Coors doesn't give him an advantage.

    We're still getting value from him though. He's hitting well with RISP and he's playing very good defense.

    He likely knows Gibson is already coming up. Be shocked if he didn't. I think that's why he said he 'WAS expecting Worley to get the call before Gibson' instead of saying 'I expect Worley to get the call before Gibson.'

    With the exception of Deduno your formidable crew of young pitchers description seems to fit the bill. I'd like to think Gibson, Meyer and Albers will be in the rotation to start 2014, but it's too hard to tell, really. At least at this point
