The parks I've been to ranked best to worst: Target Field, Camden Yards, Coors Field, Dodgers Stadium, Busch Stadium, Angels Ballpark, Arlington Ballpark, Candlestick Park, Metrodome, and Oakland's hole of a ballpark.
Oh, sorry. That's why I didn't understand. I didn't expect them to do well in 2011 after gutting the bullpen and losing their starting middle infield while doing nothing to address the starting pitching that clearly played over it's abilities as a whole in 2010 and was due to regress, in part, because of the loss of the middle IF. That raise in payroll had mostly to do with pay raises due to players already on the team getting raises, one in particular. It wasn't because the FO went out and tried to acquire pieces to put us over the top. I was very happy with the offseason prior to 2010 season though. I nailed my prediction of the 2010 win/loss record exactly prior to the preseason starting. I was excited about that offseason. Doesn't take much to make me giddy.
As far as Mauer goes, I'd like to point out that, yes, his June was a dropoff from May...but it kind of had to be, considering his May OPS was over 1.000. If his June OPS was his season OPS, he'd be 3rd for catchers right now. Funny thing is, that is where he stands, currently, right now for catchers anyway.
I didn't say all, I said a good chunk. Anyway, you may believe 2014 will be better, but I don't believe it's clear it will be. I surely don't think it's clear we'll be hovering around .500. We don't know May, Darnell, Meyer or Gibson will do anything at this level. That's the problem with trying to make sure-fire predictions with a team with a load of rookie and two year guys.
I easily picked the team to lose 90+ this year. With Ryan's promise to considerably improve the rotation predictably being a mis-truth, this wasn't hard to see coming.
That's a lot of assumption that a good chunk of these guys will succeed at the major league level, and do so in their first year. There's too many unproven players on this team, with more to come next year, for me to say next year will clearly be better. Where did you see this team being at before the season started?
when did we sign Perkins to 'a long term contract' to be our closer? He can be a FA after two more seasons, right? I know there's options for 2016, but still. 3 years is long term, especially when they had control of him regardless for 2013 before he became a FA if they didn't sign him?
I like how our announcers simply imply it's all about NY's park that Cano hits so many HR. Until last year, there was not much of a difference from year to year between his home and road HR totals. Not any different than most players. Last year there was a 11 HR difference, but he still had 11 on the road. Research.
One time I walked into a locker room to find an officer blow-drying the hair on his behind. As if that wasn't weird enough, people were talking to him like it was no big deal.
