  1. I don't even see him doing it then simply because he's been in that situation in the 2000s a couple times and didn't do it. I understand the argument about him not having the same resources back then, but I think there's more to it than that.
  2. Which is why I posted his response in post #7. ...and Callis didn't pick Franco, he chose Sano
  3. Fun fact: Cuddyer and Kubel had the exact same OPS as Twins. That being .794. That would be good for 19th in MLB this year for OFs and 9th for MLB RFs. ..and Kubels OPS+ as a Twin was 1 point higher than Cuddy's. I think people under-valued Kubel in relation to Cuddy for the same reason many undervalued Span's defense in relation to Revere's defense...personality.
  4. Slowey's minor league numbers were excellent too. The list of players who have had great numbers in the minors who busted or only became okay players at the MLB level is pretty large. I believe he'll be a good player, like a Kubel, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  5. Here is Mayo's response to my post (#4 of this thread.) 'I like to mix things up, what can I say? Sano's still the better prospect overall.'
  6. So less than 2 months ago, Mayo had Sano as the #3 prospect in all of baseball (and #1 at 3B) and now he doesn't even have him as the best 3B...yet the guy he had as the #6 3B is now the top 3B... I guess that OPS over 1.000 in August really hurt him
  7. Twenty 3Bs have played enough to qualify for stats. He ranks 18th in OPS...and he's a bad defender as well. As far as his cost? As a fan, I care about quality of player not cost.
  8. One main reason is he's already taken well to the position, maybe other reasons consist of our supposed plethora of OF talent coming up while we have a black hole at 1B. I'd prefer him at 1B if he was to move.
  9. Athleticism and a good arm can really come in handy at 1B. it's what helped Pujols become the single season assist leader for 1Bs.
  10. Morneau didn't get his concussion while playing 1B though. The concussion Mauer is dealing with right now is a direct result of playing catcher. I think some people are just wanting to cut down the odds of him getting more...and with catcher being the position that gets more contact than any other...just sayin'.
  11. There's that, and as far as that particular part of the article went, it was just plain insulting to some readers. It's when I stopped reading the article...and I'm not the only one who stopped reading at that point either.
  12. Some people have it in their heads that the glory days are going to start in 2015...hence the talk of a parade.
  13. Thanks :-)
  14. Do you have a link for that?
  15. I don't have any proof...but then, I didn't even say that he wanted to pitch for the Twins. Additionally, I haven't claimed that a whole group of people aren't seeing all the facts when making my claim without showing any facts, either. I want his facts that he knows for sure exist that so many others aren't seeing.
  16. And you know this for absolute sure, how?
  17. I'm more of a show me don't tell me kind of guy. We've been told all sorts of things in the past that didn't come to fruition. If they follow through, that will be great.
  18. We are excited to have him with the big club, for sure.
  19. We have no idea what we have in Buxton? Really? Glad to see you agree with what we've known about him for quite some time. He's an absolute beast.
  20. If Ryan expected a lot more from them, he doesn't say 'Regardless of ERA and those types of things, even Correia and Pelfrey, they’ve done what you might want to expect.” ' Well, unless you figure he often doesn't mean what he says...
  21. Close to the same BA, not quite...and much closer to 900 PAs than 1000 PAs (and only 819 ABs). Then we look and see Rosales has a career OPS of .624 while Mendoza is at .507. Certainly we can't consider these two close.
  22. Because some fans will buy that excuse.
  23. Not a totally different discussion at all. This article is about the state of this team. If what we've gotten from Correia and Pelfrey this year is what he expected, which is what he said, then that's a problem...then he shouldn't have signed them to begin with. As far as getting our money's worth...as a fan, why do I care? I should be happy we went out and got pitchers worth little on the FA market and they lived up to it when we needed a serious overhaul? Worst rotation in baseball.
