  1. Who was that one user who suggested (in another topic) that we should install Meyer as our 8th inning pitcher? I'd like to have a word with him.
  2. My goodness... Hamilton is a beast. Can Buxton steal bases like that?
  3. After May's mishap, it's Pelfrey's turn to pitch himself out of the rotation.
  4. I would activate Hicks pretty soon. Ease him back into CF and keep giving Rosario some chances to play CF. And please, get Eduardo out of LF!
  5. I don't agree with trading for a SS. I think Santana or Polanco will step up and take hold eventuallyl I do agree with upgrading the C position. We have a below-average veteran with few prospects on the horizon. And, of course, fix that bullpen. Please.
  6. I'm taking a look at the stats, but I'm seeing that Torii Hunter isn't batting too well (.258/.319/.403). For as much as we complain about Mauer, Hunter isn't doing much better...
  7. I think the key is to give our young bullpen arms a long-term shot. For example, Aaron Thompson has had nearly a half-season shot. We've learned a lot about him and he's had big upswing and now he's on a big downswing. A bad example is Michael Tonkin. The Twins keep sending him back and forth with AAA and he can't get a consistent amount of innings. He hasn't pitched well yet in the majors, but I think he just needs a sustained shot to crack the bullpen. So here's what the Twins should do. Give Meyer and the younger bullpen arms a long-term shot - around 2-3 months - and see if they stick. So far, we've learned Thompson probably shouldn't be in the bullpen but we've also learned that Ryan Pressly deserves his spot in the 'pen.
  8. I understand what you're saying here. Personally, I don't think Ervin Santana is going to be an upgrade over our current starting rotation. However - with the looming possibility of injuries, potential slumps (looking at you, Pelfrey),Santana's solid track record, and Santana's hefty contract, the Twins have to put him in the rotation.
  9. It was 6-2 when Boyer started warming up. When he got in there, it was 11-2. So no, he's not the blow-out pitcher yet.
  10. Dang it, why'd I go to yesterday's game? I should have been here at this fantastic game! I guess I did get to see the Cubs play, but still...
  11. Vargas nearly smoked it on his 2nd AB, and then he got all over it on his 3rd AB. Let's hope he can keep riding this momentum into the next couple weeks.
  12. Hmmm... I'm trying to think who should pitch the 7th for the Twins... because you'd want to see Fien in the 8th and Perk in the 9th, so that probably means Boyer will pitch the 7th. And Boyer hasn't done so well in his last few outings... Just don't send Thompson or Duensing out there. Please, no.
  13. Oh, so we are going to lose this game 2-1. Sorry for jinxing it earlier. Just watch Danks get the next 15 batters out in a row.
  14. Buxton and Dozier! There we go! Man, I love watching Twins games vs John Danks. It seems like it's always a win against him!
  15. Good to see Nunez tough it out.
  16. Looking at the bonuses that Stauffer was going to eventually get, it looks like the Twins signed him to be a starter. No, seriously. In Spring Training, they tried to stretch out Stauffer as a starter, but he pitched so poorly they moved him into the bullpen. Not sure what TR was thinking.
  17. The Twins are always afraid to part with their players who are at the peak of their career with the Twins. If I was given a nice offer, I'd send Pelfrey away. Regression is going to come eventually, not just for Pelfrey but for the Twins too.
  18. Perkins, Fien, Boyer, and Thompson is a good start. We need some young guys who can get strikeouts behind them. (Looking at you, Tonkin, Achter, and Oliveros)
  19. It's crazy how Milone is pitching so well... is there any way he could transition into the bullpen? This is because I think May needs to stay in the rotation. Of the 4 guys who have started the most games, May has the lowest FIP at 3.40. I'd rather see Pelfrey gone, but he's not doing too poorly. The Twins will have to make somebody unhappy with their next moves (or lack of moves).
  20. Reminds me of a couple of guys named David Ortiz and Carlos Gomez. We need to develop Arcia and be patient, and he will keep hitting eventually. Unless we get a great trade offer for him, I keep Oswaldo. Also, with the DH position getting clogged up, it's probably time to consider trading Josmil Pinto. The Twins aren't interested at him being on the major league roster and there's got to be a few MLB teams who would want a young and talented bat.
  21. Let's remember that the Colorado Rockies were in first place around 8 days ago, then they lost 7 in a row and are now in the cellar. The Twins had a really bad run in the first week. They've had a fantastic last 2 weeks. Teams are going to fluctuate over the course of the season. I don't see the Twins being able to sustain their current level of play, but I think now that we've seen them play so well, I think going .500 isn't out of the question anymore. The Twins are going to have another slump. They just have to make sure it isn't quite as bad as the first one.
  22. There is absolutely no way I would do this. Yes, it'd be nice to get a good catcher, but I don't want Braun or his mega-deal. Also, why give away a young starting pitcher in Trevor May who's getting close to being a reliable starter?
  23. Terry Ryan said that "this is most likely not a long-term situation. Obviously that can change." (quoted from the Derek Wetmore article) So unless he breaks out like Danny Santana did, Arcia's gonna get his spot back.
