  1. It's possible he showed up here in Ft Myers yesterday. There were new faces here and I thought one of them was him. Also here were Burton and Perkins. It's good these guys show up early.
  2. I liked the "take it or leave it" from Ryan.
  3. Today was the first day of hitting on the field this spring. Sano was held to one round only, and then he sat out infield grounders. Looks like they are going to take it real slow with him this spring. As for his English question, he's come a long ways. His English has really improved the last couple of years.
  4. Talked with my friend who went up for it this morning. He was disappointed over all. He collects cards, etc. It cost $650 for a table for the dealers, and it was so dark in there you really couldn't tell the grade of the cards. So he only bought newer cards, and the dealers were selling cheap, trying to recoup table rent. He went to the garage sale, but was late. A friend of his got in at the start and bought 9 game used jerseys at 50 each with a 20% discount, including Florimon, Dozier and Kubel. Really a good price! Most all that was gone when he got there but he did buy a bobblehead set for $120. They were 20% off if 6 or more purchased so he got together with a couple other guys and they bought the 6. The first thing he did friday night was get in the Buxton line and got that signed no problem. Saturday he said that line was very long. He was happy they had elevators. There's some kinks to work out before next year.
  5. The team won't be more mature with those guys, but more fun to watch. I can easily see 90 losses this season the way it sits and am hoping Sano makes it out of spring training, along with Pinto and Arcia, Buxton joins in June with perhaps Meyer, and Hicks sometime this year. 90 losses would be easier to take with the young guys as to the same o, same o as the last few years.
  6. Thanks for the write-up. I've never been there as I'm in Fort Myers at the time, but it's always nice to read how things go up there. Talked to a few players that were there today and they said it was cold. One of my friends down here flew up for it but haven't seen him yet to get his scoop. Sounds like the crowds were way down, but then that's better for those that did go. Glad it was worth the drive for you, and something the boys won't forget.
  7. Thanks for the audio, and I listened to almost all if it before being called away. Must of been a fun event. If they could get Patsy Cline to perform at Target, I'd be first in line for tickets. Sounds like some good stuff coming though.
  8. $15 for Mudcats' auto sounds like a good deal to me. If a person is going, that's the one they should get.
  9. Good to see Mudcat there, and a steal for an autograph.
  10. Knoblauch's fine with me. He was always a good guy to everyone each spring, and a heck of a 2nd baseman. His problems seemed to start with the onset of alzhiemers with his dad, that progressed really fast. His dad lived close by me here and seemed good, then one day I was driving past and Knobby was helping him get up the stairs. No Gladden ever for me. If not Tovar next, then wait for Hunter. We certainly don't need someone every year and I mentioned that to Saint Peter or whoever he is last year. He did mention Knobby and that was it.
  11. Throw Arcia in there too and that would be something to pay to watch!
  12. Terry Ryan says that Walker has more power than anyone in the organization.
  13. Travis Harrison mentioned yesterday they told him if he was ever going to make the bigs, it would be in the outfield. He played only 3rd base last season and then the outfield in the fall. I look to see him in the outfield alot more this season as he chases the dream.
  14. We've got to keep this guy warm for Twins fest, so I gave him my gloves this morning. And.....besides a pet monkey, he's also got a dog.
  15. Blyleven is losing his mind!
  16. That will be a can't miss! Someone was filming Sano today. I assumed it was for the documentary on him.
  17. Bartlett could be yet, as he was taking ground balls at 3rd, then ss, then 2nd base this morning. He told someone the other night he'd like to be a coach in this organization.
  18. Well it's much more likely to happen with position players, not so much for pitchers. The pitchers are ahead of the hitters for most of spring training, so the results don't transfer that reliably. But it will be an interesting spring with all these arms. One thing to remember, and I've seen it done by Radke and Baker, guys like that sometimes feel they need work on a certain pitch, and will throw it almost every pitch, even late in spring games. They'll get lit up but could care less, the games don't count anyway.
  19. Amen to that! One good month and get paid 2 million plus. What a racket. And my money is on a year from now everyone on this board will be wanting to cut bait with him.
  20. That's a shame. If Plouffe gets that kind of money someone likes him alot more than me.
  21. Talked with Sano this morning and asked about the elbow. It's good, no pain, and he started throwing today and will throw again tommorrow. So things are looking up.
  22. 175, reallly missed some no brainers, and spelled wrong. Lew Ford, how could I forget?
  23. Bronson Arroyo was a guest speaker at Jeff Smith's camp this weekend. I was talking with a coach who was there and talked with Arroyo. He wants a 3 year contract. I doubt we'd be interested.
  24. Good article. But the championship games weren't at Hammond. I really wanted to watch, but was informed they were at City of Palms, and no one could get in. Also couldn't get in to watch during the week. I usually watch this camp and get a kick out of it, as others do also, so to bad we were shut out.
  25. I talked with Liam today, as he's working out at Hammond. I mentioned he probably got a break with all the pitchers coming here. He agreed. Said he's got a long shot chance at the 5th spot for the O's, and a shot at LR. TR talked to him before this all came down and told him what was up. Told him he was 90% certain Liam would be claimed, and said to go do your best and prove I made a bad decision. He's pulling for him, as are most of us. He goes to O's camp for 3 days of boot camp next week.
