  1. And on that note, I'll disagree with it all. Plouffe is slow, and not an outfielder. He's not that good at 3rd either. Hopefully he'll be traded, or anything, just not to be around another year.
  2. Check the year, chuck last year and this team has been much better to watch this season. Will it continue? Who knows, but it's lasted longer than I ever expected. And we can thank 2 guys not even on the team now for getting us off to a good start and throwing some confidence into the clubhouse.
  3. And the best 3rd base is playing 3rd base!
  4. Nolasco is ok for 5 innings. After that he just mails it in.
  5. Did I lose a year somewhere?
  6. After swimming half way across the river, I just can't turn back now. So I'll stick with the under. Another quick 5 game losing streak and we are cooked. That could signal the promotion of some that really won't lead to anything more than experience. But I'm hoping we can crawl back near the .500 mark. Hard to do if you don't score runs though.
  7. That was a nice beginning for Pino, as nervous as he was. One pitch may have cost him a shutout and a win. He's earned another 3-4 starts, and if he continues with this he'll finish the year here.
  8. A night after just feeling Parm's was going to jack one, and pitch around Ortiz, I couldn't take it any more when Perk gave up the hit. So I turned it off and went to bed. Nice to see we hung on to win. My day will be better now!
  9. That was the most disappointing loss I've seen this year. That hit me hard.
  10. Gibson seems to get better with every start.
  11. Isn't that the truth. With Correia you know you've got a 50-50 pitcher. There's going to be some clunkers and some good games. The pitcher no one seems to mention, who IMO is questionable is Nolasco. I didn't much care for him this spring, (he's got an attitude). He seems to get thru 5 innings and just goes out and throws after that, as if I've got the money and done what I wanted. I just don't see him bearing down and giving the effort after 5. I'd move him first if there were any takers.
  12. My question for this series is who hits the longest home run, Arcia or Ortiz?
  13. Neither one of these guys have to, I'll bet.
  14. And the drama continues...............stay tuned!
  15. Good to see Vargas score from second with the winning run. And then take the slow trot the next game. Good day for the minors.
  16. I've just never been an Anderson fan, and really had my doubts as to how much he's helped the pitchers. No doubt in his years he's helped some I'm sure, but not a great percentage. And with Hughes, he was so happy to be here in spring training, I just feel he's taken the ball and run with it, and done so all on his own. He's confident, was when he came here, and enjoying being here.
  17. I give Hughes the credit, and very little to Anderson. I'm not a believer in him.
  18. I figured he wasn't 100% right from the get go this year. He's a better pitcher than he was showing and something was amiss. He's got to be disgusted in some ways and relieved in others. Hopefully he'll return to have a good career.
  19. Nice to see Plouffe sit.
  20. Cracks me up that someone always thinks Gardy has to have someone to throw under the bus.
  21. Jokin, I don't follow Keith Law or any of those other guys but it seems he's well respected by many here at TD where I get most of my info. I often wonder just how much on the scene time those guys spend. Anyway, spending time at spring training since it opened in Ft Myers, and having worked there for a number of years, and being there daily, one can't help but get a good insight into a lot of personalities. There are a number of individuals who's names jump out, but Kirby and David Ortiz are high on the list. Vargas reminds me of them. He's the "jump on my back" type of guy. And he's shown the athletic ability to do so at every level so far. He really could have a good ML career. Just a little story from this spring: I started collecting bats, most all autographed some years back, and have about 40. One that isn't signed is a David Ortiz bat he game me after he cracked it. I've spent hours trying to get him to sign it with no luck. He and Kennys are fairly tight and I heard late in the spring he was going over to David's place, so I asked if he'd take the bat and get it signed for me. No problem, he took it, happily. About 4 days later he brought me the bat and had no luck, as they didn't get together. Camp was about to break and things do get hectic in those days. But, he tried, and I was appreciative for that. That's the kind of kid he is. LOL, I don't have one of his and would really like one.
  22. I really like Vargas. He's got a Kirby Puckett mentality and has great power from both sides of the plate. He doesn't get cheated in his at bats. He'll be a great DH and I believe he can play 1st base on occasion also. I hope he continues in has learning and we see him next year.
  23. AJ, I've really enjoyed your articles posted here on TD. I got to watch you play some last year in Ft Myers, and every year in spring training. Met your wife this spring down there, she's a keeper! You've lived the dream that this guy had from about 6 years old, and done well. The best of luck to you in what ever the future brings.
  24. Mauer couldn't get an rbi if the runner was halfway between 3rd and home.
