  1. Over. Laroche leaving is the cherry on top of a good offseason.
  2. Re: Buxton's steals Yesterday Buxton leadoff the game with a HBP. Then was caught stealing on a 1-0 fastball to the San-man, batting 2nd. It was a terrible pitch to run on. He got on base again in the third, and wisely did not attempt to steal during the San-man's AB. However with Sano at the dish, one out, Sano got to 1-2, and was thrown in sequence a fastball low and off the plate, and then a slow breaking pitch to strike him out. Buxton did not attempt to steal on either pitch. Now, Santana, as we know, is not a power hitter. And when you throw as hard as Cole does, there's not much reason to throw him anything but fastballs. Bad pitches to run on, in other words. And Sano, as we know, eats fastballs for breakfast. So when he gets to two strikes, no pitcher in his right mind is going to throw him a good one. Excellent pitches to run on, in other words. Point is, maybe Buck can up his SB total by being a little more selective about which pitches he runs on, esp. if Molly puts him in front of Sano in the order, a really intriguing prospect for both Buxton and Sano I think as the SBs might force pitchers to throw Sano more fastballs with two strikes.
  3. Yeah I can't top ABBA, it is pretty great though. My guiltiest top 5, after ABBA: 5. Eagle-Eye Cherry- Save Tonight 4. Alanis Morissette- Thank You 3. TLC- No Scrubs 2. The Cranberries- Linger 1. Journey- Don't Stop Believin
  4. Arcia sitting on, and crushing an offspeed pitch from Cole. A mistake by Cole there, no reason to throw Arcia anything but the heat. Twins up 2-1.
  5. Damn, would've been great insurance for Park/Arcia.
  6. I am always vexed by athletes who do not stay in good- nay, extremely good shape. I'm talking Dozier, Buxton, Berrios good shape. But at the end of the day it is their job to lose. Sano knows as well as anyone how hungry every minor league player is to get to the Show, he knows those kids are hitting the stationary bike and the weights to gain an advantage and one day he could be the guy who gets replaced. If that doesn't motivate him, nothing will. Besides that though, Reusse assumes a trim 255 pound Sano would be better in the outfield. It wouldn't hurt, but he still would be among the biggest in the game and it wouldn't do anything to address the complete lack of experience he has. IMHO Sano, if he is the once in a generation slugger I believe he is, he is eventually going to force the Twins to re-think their use of the DH. They will have to accept that they can't have 13 athletes who can all play the field while rotating guys through DH for various reasons like they do now. They will need to carry play a more traditional AL style game where they have 12 athletes and one slow bruising slugger- Sano, who is going to hog the DH spot.
  7. I think Rosario cuts down on the K's and does hit for a high average and good slg and is among the top 1-2 team leaders in WAR. .290/.312/.480 (.792)
  8. I mean it was 89 and muggy today. Why would he have held back? Esp. after giving up 3 hits?
  9. Last April Perk was throwing his (2nd) hardest, according to Brooks Baseball http://i.imgur.com/qjutxEi.jpg
  10. Bremer gave us several more unimpressive fastball readings from Perkins- 88 and 89, in his 1 IP. Gibson by contrast was sitting 92 and Tonkin 95-96 so the gun was not the issue. Starting to worry...
  11. Kyle makes a barehanded play on a very good bunt. Nice play, Kyle looks sharp, throwing all his pitches early on, getting some swings and misses.
  12. I agree these songs are great on their own. I guess it just seems kinda, unfair, when the cover becomes more well known than the original. Case in point, Twist and Shout. "Disappointing" wasn't the right word there.
  13. Well, this is fun, for me anyways. Another song I had no idea wasn't original.
  14. Yeah but its always slightly disappointing to hear that a song you really like wasn't an original. I can't even find the original Phil Medley version of Twist and Shout, not on YT anyways.
  15. I didn't either. Hell I didn't know Nirvana's "Man who sold the world" was a cover til Bowie died a few weeks ago lol.
  16. Which one?
  17. And with that I now know two Manfred Mann songs, and both are covers. Agree with your first point so, in an attempt to put together a sem-focused list... how about top 5 covers? Mine would be 5. Joe Cocker- Feelin Alright 4. Metallica- Whisky in the Jar 3. Rapeman- Just Got Paid Today 2. Nirvana- The Man Who Sold the World 1. Manfred Mann- Blinded by the Light
  18. Ha! 17.36 mph for Joe. Rosario clocks in at 18.61 Joe looks to be somewhere around 65th percentile in 1st to 2nd speed according to this graph (Rosario somewhere around 90th).
  19. Fun with numbers- Milone has a 16.2 K/9 as a reliever. May only has 10.4
  20. Goddammit, National Enquirer, that's it? Well if you hear the sound of tires screeching that could be me backpedaling...
  21. I'm miffed by the concept of this movie almost as much as I'm miffed about the buildup for it. I just don't get it on any level.
  22. The Weezer Blue album has a special place for me, it was my 2nd CD purchase back 20+ years ago (first was Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt). In the past year or so it has had a renaissance on the local radio waves which has made me happy. Never got into the Green one personally.
  23. I've been in a bubble gum pop phase so Grimes is my go-to right now. Came out last fall.
