  2. Has anyone tested this axiom using Commandf/x data yet?
  3. I think the Twins should take a page out of the Earl Weaver playbook. Bat Bartlett 2nd on road games, so he hits in the top of the 1st. Then take him out of the game, sub in Florimon for the bottom of the 1st.
  4. I loved the 1999-2000 teams too. But you didn't need to be a genius to see that Hunter, Cuddyer, Pierzynski, Radke, Koskie, Mientkewicz, and Jones had real talent. Escobar, Parmelee, Hendriks, Robertson, Worley, Herrmann... I just don't get the same feeling from most of the young guys we have seen recently.
  5. Chavis is still red hot. As of Mar 24 he was batting .700 (21 for 30) with 5 HR. He hit his 6th HR Wednesday. http://mdjonline.com/bookmark/24798701-Sprayberry-s-Chavis-becoming-nightmare-for-pitchers http://mdjonline.com/view/full_story/24828027/article-Yellow-Jackets-get-most-out-of-three-hits?instance=special%20_coverage_right_column
  6. My heart goes out to Tigers fans
  7. 2nd to last, as of yesterday. Behind... the Red Sox.
  8. Yes that's correct. The Strohs had to DFA Valdez before claiming Presley. But according to Wikipedia so its possible to get a deal done before the end of the 3rd day, if a team really likes a guy and makes a good trade offer. Maybe with two open 40 man spots now the Twins will interject if anyone really interesting hits the waiver wire and someone in the division (except the White Sox) tries to do that, the Twins will butt in just for blocking purposes.
  9. Evidently Toussaint's changeup looked better yesterday, command was better too. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2014-nhsi-prospect-notebook-day-1/
  10. For better or worse the Twins have identified Parmelee as a bench talent. They've said all along that he is competing for a bench spot. Which would make sense considering that he can't get on top of a high fastball to save his life. Its only here where people are still vacillating on whether he is still a prospect or not.
  11. $300 million, that's pretty close to the increase in the value of the franchise since they broke ground less than 10 years ago, isn't it?What a coincidence. Seems like they ought to have been able to finance it themselves.
  12. Thank god Twins coaches don't play every failing prospect until they reach absolute proof positive statistical significance. That's what options and coaches and the minor leagues are for, use them.
  13. Sometimes you can't give your money away
  14. Then Deduno. You know, our best starter last year. There's unquestionably more depth.
  15. The upside is batting average. I personally think with his speed and contact tendencies he can challenge for a batting title. Also I wasn't opposed to trading Revere, I just think he's a lot better talent than a 4th OFer as someone called him. The strategy made sense at the time - trade from a position of stregth to backfill a weakness. But its looking like the talent eval missed the mark, for sure on Worley and probably on Revere too. TBD on May but even there, the early returns aren't especially promising.
  16. Revere was also a top 100 prospect, and unlike the other 2 players involved in the trade, had achieved some success in the Show, and still has upside in the bank even today.
  17. Makes a lot of sense to me.
  18. Don't mind if I do http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2f/David_Byrne_2006.jpg/220px-David_Byrne_2006.jpg
  19. With the 5th selection the Minnesota Twins select... Touki Toussaint.
  20. Oh why didn't you say so? http://i.imgur.com/i6hPsKC.gif
  21. That game's been cancelled too. Super accurate dopler in FL
  22. Bump set spike. Talk about media being on the Twins payroll...
  23. Doesn't look good http://www.wunderground.com/radar/mixedcomposite.asp?region=d5&size=2x&type=loop
  24. The 2013 team overperformed their pythagoran w-l by 5 games but the offense also underperformed by 31 runs, according to wRC. Plouffe, Hammer, Parmelee, Arcia, Florimon, Presley, and Mauer all hit worse with RISP than they did overall. Its reasonable to expect them as a group to regress. edit: the 2013 team only overperformed their pythagoran w-l by 3 games.
