  1. If this guy has 3-4 above average pitches, why the heck isn't he starting?
  2. Molitor is managing the hell out of this game.
  3. I mean Bautista, Encarnacion and Reyes are okay but the Jay I was really hoping to see just got optioned? I'm talking of course about this guy
  4. I was able to bike 1.5 miles home from work so I don't see why they can't get a 9 inning game in this weather. How much you wanna bet?
  5. Good point. Rosario has to stop swinging at everything. I guess I see them as more or less equivalent players right now, only Arcia has the baggage of going 2+ years unable to correct the same damn weakness. Maybe Rosario can adjust quicker, or maybe merely replacing Arcia will cause Arcia to finally make whatever adjustment he needs to make.
  6. If Fulmer and Tate are both available, I'd like to see them take Fulmer. Both pitchers are transitioning from relief to starting and by any measure you want to use, Fulmer has been more successful at it. Also, give me a big curveball over a big slider any day.
  7. Vargas should be DH IMO. Why he got demoted just as he was turning the corner was very hard to swallow. He should be back ASAP. Arcia is frustrating because he still can't catch up to good belt high fastballs. He should be crushing those by now since its been an obvious weak spot from the get-go. Rosario OTOH took Porcello deep on a fastball then in the next at-bat hit a changeup 6 inches off the plate. He's way better in left field, obviously. IMO its a no brainer to keep him up unless/until Arcia forces the issue.
  8. Disapointing.
  9. His finish looks a little weaker on those two pitches compared to the one from last year. You can see it with his glove hand, it tucks and pulls all the way past his hip in that 2014 pitch, but in the two from this year he keeps it more out front. Maybe he's a little preoccupied with getting into an optimal fielding position?
  10. I think I could get behind Tucker although would prefer Cameron I think. Seems to have the better glove and had a marginally less impressive year at the plate (statistically - yeah I know they're meaningless in HS). Tucker: .484, 10 HRs, 64 ABs Cameron: .455, 8 HRs, 17 SBs, 25 games
  11. Agree. I think fans get it right most of the time and would love to be able to vote for pitchers too.
  12. If Molitor brought Stauffer into a game right now, into any kind of semi-meaningful spot, say a 4 run lead with 1 out and runners on first and second, the balloon under which this team has been floating for the past month would pop. A cloud of euphoric helium gas would escape and react with the influx of CO2 released by the collective groans of Twins players, coaches, and fans and float away on an Alberta clipper to Chicago where it would probably water the Cell grass and foul lines with clutch water and 2 out ralliness. Honestly Stauffer cannot be allowed into a game right now, can he?
  13. He's here because they can't keep him on the DL forever and they don't want to lose him for some unfathomable reason.
  14. Don't look now but our old friend Liam Hendriks is carving a nice little niche in the Blue Jays bullpen. In 17 appearances he has gone 21 innings, struck out 23 while walking 4. Although his ERA is in the mid 4-s, the FIP is under 3. He has allowed just 2/10 inherited runners to score.
  15. I do think there is something to the same-sided changeup (or splitter in Pelfrey's case). Its not that novel anymore, quite a few pitchers use it these days, but something we didn't see much of (if at all) in the Anderson era.
  16. Dozier and Plouffe are grouped in against some very good players. I will vote for Dozier as a homer tie-break but Plouffe doesn't quite make the cut (at this point) IMO.
  17. He is also the all time hit leader in Ohio prep baseball. I normally put more weight into stats than scouting but I think they might oversell Benintendi's ability here. Particularly his power. At least one HR is an inside the parker. And just looking at some youtubes, a lot of the ones that cleared the fence were wall scrapers. Combined with the composite bat and the fact that he has to pull to get anything over the fence and I doubt his power will translate that well against better competition, wooden bats, etc.
  18. Escobar has no business in left. Arcia coming back strong would be very welcome.
  19. Sano is a powerball ticket unlike any other prospect in the system IMO. Still tradeable but would have to be blown away. Its hard to even put a ceiling on his home run potential IMO
  20. What would be a fair/market price for Matt Barnes from the Red Sox? Young, throws hard, was mis-cast as a starter but looked damn good in relief yesterday.
  21. I think I gotta wait. Can't figure out who to put for AL SS and one or two other spots
  22. Sorry couldn't resist. Yeah the team's been on a tear for a while. I love how they've had big innings, then capped them with 2-3 run dingers. That's cold, man.
  23. Have people voted already? How long do you wait? Anyone want to share their ballot and/or reasoning behind certain players?
  24. Spoiler alert!
