  1. It has been stated here earlier, but why get scrape heaps with little or no value. Sign a top tier free agent then trade him for quality prospects in july or next winter. With inflated salaries ,just go sign hamilton to a 4 year contract , 3 years at 25 million per and year number 4 at 30 million , knowing in 1-2 years he will not be needed and can be flipped for quality pitching prospects
  2. What does Gardy have to do with anything? You think he would turn down having Youk on this team? An over the hill player , who will require to much money ? Thank you no
  3. Off subject , but can anyone tell me why Salcedo is rated higher as a prospect then Berrois is?
  4. If haren did pitch to his abilitys and then the twins offered him a qualifing offer we would have at least recieved a sandwich pick, and had haren for 1 year, but im guessing we would have needed to make him a 15-16 million dollar offer to even get him to step into our suite to talk
  5. but if he struggles in the leadoff spot , do the twins move mauer up to the top of the order?
  6. If we are going to the scrape heap to fill out our rotation , rather then sign a Blanton or Myers, there are a couple of former pitchers who i speculated on a couple of months ago , Brandon Webb and Scott Kasmir....reports are that Scott is hitting 93-94 mph in winter ball, as for Webb i havent heard anything , but 1 or both of these guys could be a low risk high reward signing... Last year terry signed Zumaya, most knew he was probally going to get hurt , but i was ok with the signing.I hope terry takes a risk or 2 this off season on high return type players, rather then signing a slowey or blanton as our ace ...
  7. before the new cba , i agree july trades drove up the return , but now with the new cba , and justin signed only through 2013 , the team that accuires him recieves no compensation if he leaves via free agency after the season , with or with out a qualifing offer
  8. Even if the twins went 14 million , Haren would have signed with washington, i think. He has a chance to pitch for the front runners this off season or take 7% more and pitch for maybe the worst team in all of baseball? Was a smart move if he recovers and pitches to his ability, with next years bump in tv revenue and a chance to be show cased in the post season , haren can cash in on a long term deal next year ....
  9. Would texas take justin Morneau and our #7 prospect hHarrison for olt , maybe even throwing in aceldo or hudson boyd? My thought is adding a piece to the puzzel or the future, even if is not pitching, with reports on Sano saying he will probally need to move to 1b or become a corner outfielder, why not try and get Olt?
  10. T he minnesota twins llc could carry a payroll of 140 million dollars and not lose money. Next year that could increase to 165 million and still not lose money, after 2 years of complete failure why should this company believe they should pocket over 30 million in profits this year?
  11. I expect upper tier players to see salarys with up to and more of 25% by the time spring training starts in 2014,with that in mind the twins should be looking for players they need this year rather then waiting till next.
  12. If we sign Anibal sanchez 1st, yes i would offer Dempster a 2 year contract with a option 3rd year , maybe a vesting option? If not Dempster then either Jackson or Haren as the #2 option for our 2013 rotation. As for Sanchez offering him an opt out after his 2nd year might improve our chances of signing him. With salarys skyrocketing , this might look good to him. Like i have posted i would offer 15 million over 4 years with an vesting option at 20 millon ,with an opt out for him after 2 years, allowing him to pursue bigger money , and also giving him security at the same time..
  13. 110 million dollar payroll, With 2 prospects with no place to play why not trade justin and a prospect for either torontos Dárnaud or texas 3b olt? We would be adding quality to the infield and saving 15 million . That would give us about 55 million to spend and enough to sign Anibal Sanchez to a 4 year contract at 15 million per with a 5 th year option at 20 million, along with either Jackson or Dempster at 12-14 million per year. That would give us enough money to sign Hamilton to replace Justins left handed power and allow Revere to play left field and ham moving to dh ,improving our defense in the outfield and giving us an exciting rotation and a killer batting order. ok now that your maybe done laughing remember inflation and we are still 1-3 years from seeing our top prospect from arriving, and when they do we will have trade chips in the players we signed this year to reload the minors ,or to add a player or 2 to make a run at a title..
  14. So frankie wouldnt be a good addition as a 1 inning reliever,or as 4-5th starter? I would rather have a chance to win with frankie , then knowing we are going to lose with a correia or marquis. If liriano is brought back , we need to bring in a spanish speaking catcher, and finally rid the twins of drew butera
  15. Agreed im expecting at least 30% increase in upper tier players salaries, so why not tie up a sanchez or grienke now In 3 years there paychecks will look small compared to others
  16. If the twins are going to resign loco liriano , why not sign brayan pena? Help frankie out by getting a spanish speaking catcher, to help reinforce cuellars teachings . Plus he hits over .200, with out looking i think a .248 career B.A.
  17. My 3 would be: Edwin Jackson $14mil 4-years Ryan Dempster$11mil 3-years Joe Blanton $8mil 2-years A total of $33 mill annually so I went over but not by much. I think K.C. dropped out of the Dempster derby when he turned down 26 million over 2 years
  18. I expected justin to take 3 year to fully recover, so im expecting more improvement. Id be surprised if he didnt put up a .280+ave. with 25-29 homers, so i guess for me , does justin want to stay here and is he willing to give us a big discount ,team friendly contract . But i still may be suffering from my last conccusion(3rd)
  19. Here is my question, we need pitching for 2013, but dont we need it in 2014 and 2015 and? If we were to sign sanchez at 16-17 million per year for 4 years and an option at 20 million for the 5th year ,Wouldnt that give the rotation and the kids some stability, the way radke did for all those years?
  20. If i am terry ryan , i need to decide today if justin will progress or simply stay where he is at in his recovery If i think he will continue to improve ,why not extend him now at a team friendly contract, say 3 years at 8 million per and an option year worth 12 million and a buy out of 1 million .That makes the contract 25 million over 3 years or 37 million over 4 years. if not do you trade him or just let him play out the year and go from there?
  21. congrates and may god bless her and keep her safe always
  22. If denard was worth a #2 prospect , could we have gotten a #11 and a #20 prospect from the phillys for him? #11 is petitbone ,not dazzaling but solid middle of the rotation pitcher ready to contribute some time in 2013 season ,and ruf is a righthanded masher who plays 1b . He hit 41 homeruns between AA and the majors last year . My complaint or disapointment is,we filled only 1 hole and will wait 2-4 years to see if he pans out. Also i am not convinced chris parmele has what it takes to replace justin morneau ,preinjury.I hope parm makes me eat a big crow sandwich and i end up admitting terry ryan was correct , but its a long wait to know
  23. Where are people getting this 3 years from? Sickels himself says he could be ready come next season. People understand the difference between college starters and HS starters right? There is no reason why Meyer shouldn't spend the majority of this season in AA with a shot at AAA towards the end. If he keeps doing what he has been doing he will be with the Twins come June 2014. 2013 AA 2014 AAA 2015 Maybe minnesota twins, if he continues to progress
