Twins (Ober) vs. Pirates (Keller): 5/30/26, 3:05 pm CDT
SteveLV replied to Mortimerkenny21's topic in Archived Game Threads
For the love of the Almighty let's have an honest assessment of this roster after this weekend and MAKE SOME CHANGES. Dump all the old wood, make Larnach a DH only against righties, bring up some young players and that would at least keep SOME interest in the team. This rogue's gallery of ineptitude is un-watchable. NO MORE RETREADS. -
How the Twins Can Get to MLB’s Proposed Salary Floor
SteveLV replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I also truly question the assertion the players don't care about competitiveness. I think they do. Everyone likes to play on a winning team. No one wants to play on a basement team. If the players think a Minnesota or a Colorado have a legit chance to compete under a new CBA, they will no longer have to pay a "premium" to potential FA's. Parity is good for the teams, the players and, most importantly, the fans.- 86 replies

How the Twins Can Get to MLB’s Proposed Salary Floor
SteveLV replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Here is a good way to look at this situation, IMO. In the NFL, there is NO DISCUSSION about eliminating the hard cap and floor. ZERO. Why? Because it works. Contracts have evolved, good players are getting a ton more guaranteed money than they did 5 years ago, but all good. Same for NHL and NBA. But MLB? NO. Somehow this sport is uniquely unsuited to a fair, hard cap and floor because of what reason? Is there something about the nature or baseball as a game vs. the other major sports that differentiates its labor situation? NO!!!! It is the historical precedent of a very powerful union that has manhandled a weak, fractious, disparate ownership group. Nothing more, nothing less. There is plenty of money to go around and compensate the players even better, keep the owners rich, and improve the competitiveness of the game. It is TIME to step up and make it happen. But, saying all that, I remain skeptical that anything significant will get done.- 86 replies

How the Twins Can Get to MLB’s Proposed Salary Floor
SteveLV replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the MLB proposal is certainly a step in the right direction. BUT: 1) They have to agree to open their books so the Players know what they are negotiating; 2) There has to be FULL revenue sharing based on 1; 3) I would prefer a tighter "gap" between the ceiling and floor similar to the NFL; 4) They have to figure out what to do with existing deferred contracts--reducing them to present value makes the most sense logically; 5) Compromise and raise the minimum salary floor to the $1.5M figure the players want. That will garner a LOT of votes from the players union if hundreds of players suddenly double their income in their early years in the league; 6) Raise the base salaries for MiLB players, too; 7) Probably makes sense to cut down the maximum length of contracts, too, although this one the Players will really not like. This would be an EXCITING change to MLB and restore competitiveness. I hope and pray they can get something like this done. If the Players end up with more guaranteed money in their collective pockets, the Owners should be able to fashion a deal that is fair to both sides and get it approved.- 86 replies

Twins (Rojas) vs White Sox (Martin): 5/28/26, 1:10pm
SteveLV replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
I didn't even bother to turn this game on. Seriously, what is interesting or exciting about this team if their SP is no good? Their lineup is moribund, their D is spiteful, and they are OLD. Once again, I renew my plea to bring up young players and let them see if they sink or swim in the majors. Otherwise, there is nothing to see here. -
Twins (Bradley) vs Red Sox(Moran): 5/23/26, 3:10 pm CDT
SteveLV replied to C-Gangster's topic in Archived Game Threads
Cripes, why not Gonzalez play? He is only here for a few days, let's see what the youngster can do! He looked poised last night against a pretty tough lefty with a power arm. -
I see no logical reason NOT to trade Jeffers if he comes back strong and can garner a nice return. He is gonzo after the end of the year. What difference does it make if he plays an extra couple months here? Ryan, either sign him to an extension (highly, highly unlikely) or trade him. He should have tremendous value to a deep pockets team that can sign him to an extension. I would love to see Twins re-sign him, but it is never going to happen so move him for a haul. Larnach, Bell, Rogers--all rentals and if you get something enticing, sure. Buxton. Whoo-boy, you better be careful here. He is having a terrific season and is on a BARGAIN contract. If the Brinks truck backs up, take a look inside. Teams like the Yankees and Dodgers would love him, and it sure would be fun to watch Byron play some post-season baseball. See no reason to move controllable players like Martin. Ober, I would listen. Going to be an very interesting trade deadline in all likelihood.

Seems to me that Fedko should be next man up with Gray goes on Paternity leave. Or Sabato.

At least he worked the AB before he did the inevitable and struck out....10 pitch AB. -
Brewers (Henderson) vs Twins (Prielipp): 5/16/26, 6:10pm
SteveLV replied to Brandon Glick's topic in Archived Game Threads
They simply are not a good team. Starting pitching has been better than expected after losing Lopez. All other components, hitting, fielding and relief pitching, is AAA level. As noted repeatedly above, Lewis is completely lost at this point, and the costly error only makes this more obvious on this particular evening. To the poster that thought they might reach .500 this season, good luck with that. (But I would be astonished and delighted to be wrong!) -
Was Wallner Just The First Domino? What's Next?
SteveLV replied to DocBauer's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Bell is fizzling out as a late-to-the-dinner-table signing. Had a nice run during the win streak, not much since. Lewis to AAA for a re-set makes sense. I think they bring up Arcia instead of CPepper, at least until and if his bat heats up in AAA. Hasn't been bad, but could be better to be sure. Lee to 3B is fine. He also might be called upon for 2B for Keaschall if that young man doesn't figure things out better, both at the plate and in the field. We are past the quarter pole. Another month and start to start up the trade machine and bring up the rest of the youngsters who hopefully have returned to health. -
Rushing is hitting .328. Don't think they would start Jeffers, either. If their utility fielder is not as good as Gray, that might be accurate? But does that really matter? Are they trading for Gray? No, why bother. I simply don't remember a situation in MLB where one team beats the other in 25 or 26 or their respective roster spots. By a LOT. That is sickening.

I was looking at the Dodgers roster this year and comparing it to the Twins. There are exactly ZERO Twins who would make the Dodgers roster at this point in time. Pages is playing CF at a 2.6 War clip this year so no to Buxton. Joe Ryan---maaayyybbeee if he were healthy. Otherwise none. How crazy is that? Just think about that. Their entire roster is better than the Twins entire roster. Parity? What a joke.

Twins (Ober) vs Nationals (Mikolas): 5/6/26, 5:45pm
SteveLV replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Don't the Twins have a position player that wants to try? These guys we are putting out there are not worth a darn..... -
Many of us, including me, advocating finishing the tear down and accelerate the re-build by dealing Ryan and Jeffers and possibly Lopez this off-season. Tragically, we were right. The Twins tried to straddle by trading some pieces and retaining others and it now has killed their chances for a solid rebuild. Back to square one. Hope the new CBA can make smaller market teams relevant again in this wonderful sport. Otherwise, might as well adopt a second team that actually gets to play in October....

Blue Jays (Cease) vs Twins (Prielipp): 5/2/26, 1:10pm
SteveLV replied to Brandon Glick's topic in Archived Game Threads
I hope and pray Tom Pohlad is in attendance at this game. I also hope he throws up, because that is what all the real fans want to do watching this debacle of a team. Feel sorry for Preilipp, and also feel sorry for Shelton having to manage this pile of ****. Sell the damn team and begin a total rebuild. Rather watch young players lose than 39 year olds. -
Blue Jays (Cease) vs Twins (Prielipp): 5/2/26, 1:10pm
SteveLV replied to Brandon Glick's topic in Archived Game Threads
Let me see if I have this straight. The Mets are the worst team in Baseball so far in 2026. The Twins are putting a 39 year old relief pitcher out there in a 1 run game that the METS dumped. Color me shocked that he is getting shelled.
