  1. Bader is going to test the market this off-season based upon an excellent (for him) offensive showing and his usual strong and versatile OF defense. Why would he re-sign with the Twins who are losing and on a losing trajectory?
  2. Mentioned Janek in the Astros system in another thread as a C trade target.
  3. He played 3 years of college ball, is 22, and his D is reportedly well developed. If the bat continues to play, I don't think it should take 2 more years to reach MLB, but obviously the Twins would need to rely on their own scouting assessment. But seems to be an obvious target.
  4. MLB Trade Rumors reporting this, Astros would like him. Any trade discussion with Astros should start and end with Walker Janek, C. Hitting well, excellent defense, 22 years old, and even has a slew of stolen bases. Might be a year away, but he seems to be better than any C in the Twins system.
  5. Let's turn this around. If the Twins had the Tigers' record and could swap Jenkins for an All Star starter with 2.3 years of reasonable team control, they would and should do that in a heartbeat. One of those prospects in only the headline of a package for Ryan, and since the 4 play for different franchises we certainly are not going to get more than one. The Twins are clearly sellers at this point and have no interest in competing based on a 3-6 start from the AS break against 2 of the worst teams in baseball. They have a slew of good assets. Make the most of it, but don't even THINK about trading Ryan unless it is a true Godfather deal. I would not trade Duran, either. Everyone else is on the table, except Buxton with is no trade clause. I mean everyone, and if you can somehow package players and include Correa's albatross contract, make it so. He may be willing to waive his own no trade clause to get out of here, too.
  6. Add in Coloumbe and get someone actually promising, please. Maybe they are interested in Bader now with Judge on the shelf, too.
  7. Go big or go home: Jax, Coulombe, Castro, Lee and Bader to the Phillies for: Painter, Johnson, Crawford, Tait, Abel and Chace. Basically the Twins get a young C and the top 5 pitchers in their system, 2 of whom have graduated to MLB (but with very few IP). Phillies probably have an excellent chance at a World Series with this boost, and the Twins have a bunch of great arms to work with and a young C who may be a long-term answer. I would hold on to Duran, and would certainly keep Ryan. This should not materially impact the rest of the Twins season, and badly inject some talent and hope into forthcoming ones. My other thought would be to try and package Duran and Correa to a big market contender to ditch Correa's contract and get some net return on Duran. Or Jax and Correa.
  8. I'm out. MLB is broken as hell, and our local 9 is in for a LONG year. If they somehow ever get back above .500, I will re-visit (not that anyone cares anyways.) Good luck with the sale of the team, Pohlads. This is simply too brutal to care about.
  9. Prediction: Baldelli is fired by Memorial Day, if not sooner. This team is already listless.
  10. Against right handers, I like: Castro Wallner Correa Larnach Buxton whatever from there. Alternates lefties and righties. None of this matters until guys start hitting.
  11. Get back to me when you get to .500. Twins 2--12 with RISP. Team BA is .171 so far. Today starting pitching was excellent and bullpen imploded, supposedly our strength. Meanwhile, Dodgers are 4-0. Color me shocked.
  12. I know at some point last season the Twins collectively were batting well under .200 with RISP. That can't be all physical. They get uptight, press too hard, and perform terribly. Some players like pressure situations. This lineup--at least last year--does not.
  13. The Twins so desperately need a big bopper, clutch, RBI guy in the middle of their lineup. Alonso was available, but of course our team is for sale and we would not go after him. Correa is our splash play for this decade. Sorry to be gloomy, but this League is so unfair and our current team is deeply flawed. Hope they suprise!
  14. Different season, same story. Lopez mediocre, hardly an ace. He is ok, not dominant in any way. Anemic offense, and 1-8 with RISP. Heading for another average season. Meanwhile, Dodgers are already 3-0 and heading for > 100 wins. Baseball remains broken.
  15. What Squirrel said. Meh team, slightly above average. On paper, not competitive with the truly good teams.
  16. That request to keep the prior owner's child in management control of the enterprise is one of the most bizarre business transaction requests I have ever heard of. Completely preposterous.
  17. Julien looks so frickin' uncomfortable as a 2nd baseman. Another boot on a routine play. He either needs to go to AAA and learn how to field competently, or else he is a DH. No team wants him at 2nd base regularly.
  18. I think you mean "dichotomy". English police signing off.....
  19. This report is alarming. Why invest more resources in mediocre veteran players? I would sooner let a younger player play, and possibly fail, than block him and let a poor/mediocre older player play. However, I think we should probably reserve judgment until all the moves are completed. This seems to suggest other things are cooking.
  20. Is Brooks Lee going to the Padres for Cease? Is Lee's back bad?
  21. I would only trade emerging talent for 1 year of Cease (or King) if the FO was assured a) that new ownership is relatively imminent, b) the new owner(s) agree with the move, and c) new ownership wants to extend Cease to a new deal before the trade deadline. In other words, I am not trading good young talent for Cease unless it is for more than 1 year.
  22. The one aspect of MLB.TV that irks me is this: I live in coastal NC, and when the Twins play the Orioles I am blacked out! Ridiculous, 7 hour drive away from Baltimore. I hope that changes this year.
  23. He is neither. I'm not, either. They are ruining the sport.
  24. Sasaki and now Scott. Sheesh, payroll is going to quintuple the Twin's (effectively factoring in deferred value). It almost seems like they are daring MLB to actually do something and implement a Salary Cap and some parity. Hope something gets done as it is more and more the Haves and Have Nots in MLB. *Whine over*
  25. The comment about Powell's "motive" for Fed Rates was purely gratuitous and had ZERO to do with the Pohlad's finances. ZERO.
