  1. I hope you're right. He's going to be a stud. I also think the 2 way guys might be a little overrated.
  2. Should have traded Santana yesterday when he still had value.
  3. They still need another starter next week. Has to be Berrios at this point. Perhaps the Mejia bomb gave Tepesch another start.
  4. Yup. Though the cream of the system is in the majors. I also wouldn't be stunned if tge front office is willing to trade a lot of the farm system, they're not their guys. But Jay and Gonsalves are getting nothing right now, Romero not much more.
  5. To put it another way, Gordon and Berrios would net something good and controlled. Beyond that, the next group is Mejia/Gonsalves/Romero. They'll get something similar to what Mejia got last year, an ok player (Nunez) with 2 years control or a slightly better rental. And stacking mediocre prospects isn't going to move the needle much.
  6. A is true and also not true, depends on the prospect. Elite guys close to the majors have a lot of value, beyond that prospects don't net as much as we think. The Twins really have very little of value in the system, Berrios for sure, and Gordon, but beyond that the prospects aren't going to get much.
  7. I'd take him ahead of McKay.
  8. No chance I would go for a rental, but I would consider a deal like the Rangers did for Hamels, where they have multiple years of control. (Though an exact similar trade wouldn't work, as the Twins don't have the assets the Rangers did at that time)
  9. There was some wisdom in giving every available 40 man asset in the org a shot. Tonkin and Santana were unlikely to do well, but they had some tools to give one last crack. A month did minimal harm to the team/season and you move on.
  10. Protects religion way, way, way more. It is such a short sighted tactic that doesn't even clearly benefit churches (it is certainly good for politicians though) and potentially leads to huge problems in the future.
  11. Thankful that it was toothless. Rejecting the Johnson Amendment is a terrible idea for Christians. Not terribly surprising that a handful of loud, politically involved "Christian" leaders are the ones that want it.
  12. They should definitely fire the GM responsible for this trade.
  13. He's still at just over 40% approval. He is historically disliked, and passionately so. This is despite the fact that the economy is still going relatively strong and there has been no major world event. A normal President would be at least in the high 50s, or likely the 60s right now, with a lot more legislation passed. It is barely over 100 days, don't get ahead of the normal ebb and flow of this.
  14. Tepesch making sure this doesn't last too long. But in his defense, even he didn't understand why he was given this start.
  15. This makes sense, but I fear Park will be out for a while still. And I know the Mauer/Park/Vargas rotation had been talked about a lot, but that really does hamper roster flexibility and gives no DH space for Sano (or Grossman to a lesser extent). I'm not sure I would want another guy who can't play a position.
  16. He was awesome in 2014. And has tantalized with tools forever. They weren't going to cut him in 2015 (and he had an option), 2016 was a terrible enough year there was no point to cut loose someone like him. He hung on until now.
  17. Still a chance for Berrios at the next turn. Maybe he'll fix his command the next start.
  18. The old vet routine was not a unique TR phenomenon, it's a universal condition.
  19. Finally starting to clear out the no option remaining mediocrity for the option remaining mediocrity.
  20. Not only a homer but a majestic shot. Had to DFA him now, he was due for a couple more games like that and then he'd be claimed!
  21. Adrianza is activated. Also rumor of a reliver coming. Maybe the end of DSan.
  22. I generally agree they don't have the horses to compete, but the division, and the league as a whole, is pretty mediocre. They might be able to hang around. Even more so if a couple arms can come up and provide a lift.
