  1. I listed the mistakes that are getting annoying.
  2. Whose fault is that? Get rid of both of these inane tendencies.
  3. Mediocre? Yeah, that's complete nonsense. Even rebuilding teams have to add older complementary pieces, this is true. Signing them to two or three year deals? Signing ones with a snowballs chance in Arizona of having trade value? 40 man cloggers? These are optional decisions. Ryan needs to act like a rebuilder this month, he's yet to do that since this second stint.
  4. Man do I hope this is true. Watching guys nearing 40 play their way to 90 losses does get depressing.
  5. We need to buy Pelfrey a nice cabin and have a long talk about the beauty of retirement.
  6. So the answer is "yes I want to give Willingham 15M for 2015" Because there is literally zero chance he doesnt take that. I cant think of anything more irrational to do with him next year Holy cow.
  7. You want to pay Josh Willingham at 36 years old 15M?
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Buxton's personality is a hard-worker, very quiet, very humble? From what I've read on Correa, he's the take charge type. The guy you just know gets the C on his sweater the moment he walks in the room. So it seems to me it isn't a make-up thing as much as a leadership thing.
  9. Pretty much akin to how the wealthy look at the legal system. In many cases they know their won't be any real cost they can't afford.
  10. If you haven't read the source material avoid it like a zombie plague. It's VASTLY superior to the show, so if you enjoy it now, don't ruin it for yourself thinking about what might have been.
  11. Tom Kelly made mention of it publicly. According to Fangraphs, Parmelee handles fastballs at a 56.9% clip compared to, say, Dozier at 56.3. So it's not the pitch type, more the location as Parker did an excellent job pointing out.
  12. Their brand of homerism is unique, but in my experience they're pretty middle of the pack in how forwardly homer they are.
  13. Any mention of Stephen King requires mention of The Dark Tower series. It has some down moments in terms of quality, but it's a really interesting and fun read.
  14. I think most people can sympathize with that, it's part of why we can't bristle so easy at disappointment. Sometimes the team can do things right and still leave us feeling exasperated about the progress of the organization.
  15. This. After years of wishy-washy DL actions, this is a welcome sight.
  16. I like it - he's the kind of profile I like them to take a risk on.
  17. All I heard was that he waived his NTC because he thought he had a shot at the Cup. One would think he'd have had similar feelings about us, but you could be right.
  18. I appreciate the idea of this thread mike. I love fantasy but I often read professionally and miss the trends until much later - so thanks!
  19. With young players I think any bunch of success is something to hold on to. To be clear though, I'm not putting Parmelee on the road to the ASG or something. It's just been nice to see him getting regular at-bats again and producing. Parms needs to play. His playing time has been every bit as streaky as his success and until the playing time stops being streaky, I'm not willing to accept that his production is streaky.
  20. I think I'd rest him until after the ASG - caution with a kid doing this well is something I strongly endorse.
  21. I loved that move at the time. It's taken some time to pay off but that was the ideal buy-low trade rebuilding teams need to chance.
  22. Vanek deal is outstanding. I'm skeptical of him but this is a deal you have to risk and hope that stays a dangerous sniper and doesn't go Heatley on us. Also, I'll just point out that the price for Kesler was one that I hope we were at least considering.
  23. Let's all just be thrilled that after it SHOULD have happened last year, the man is finally getting some regular ABs and proving he isn't a throwaway. If common sense isn't enough to make you oppose a Willingham extension/re-signing....than consider Parmelee as a good reason. He's been our best hitter for a month now and still is a pretty underrated fielder. The man needs daily ABs the rest of the year and all of next year I'd argue. So let's hope it continues.
