  1. I guess I'd prefer the people voting for the HOF just vote for the 10 most deserving players on the ballot (if they choose to elect that many) than bring their own contorted logic with them to the ballot.
  2. I never had anything against Sabathia. I thought he was one of MLB's greatest characters - thrilled he got in. Wagner never got the love he deserved. And I know there are people that are mystified that people are mad someone left Ichiro off their ballot. (Barreiro) But the problem is that the voter isn't making their vote with an evaluation of talent but instead bringing their own nonsense to the process. I reject the nonsense, not the percentage - that's why I don't like that he missed being unanimous by one vote. Baseball doesn't know how to kill it's old, tired nonsense.
  3. I was thinking about this after nick's link about Tennessee: Has there ever been a year where more of the league's dumbest franchises have all been dumbing their way through the hiring process? Chicago, Jets, Raiders, Dallas, Titans, Jags.....these are some of the NFL's consistently stupidest teams. And they are stupiding extra hard this year.
  4. The picking his own GM part is definitely crazy. But man....it feels like Doug Pederson, in coaching circles, is absolutely trashing this guy to get something like this to happen. I can't remember a GM in a sport being so riveled by coaches that multiple dudes turn down jobs solely because of him. He definitely sucks at his job, but this is a level of suck we just don't see often.
  5. Baalke gets fired and now Coen is taking the second interview. Man would I love to hear the gossip on why Baalke is hated that much in coaching circles. We know some of it, but I bet the details are juicy.
  6. Yeah, I think Murphy gets 15M per year easily. I'm also on board with keeping Ingram as a backup. Vikings don't have enough under contract players to cut any on rookie deals. But I like the investments in the line!
  7. I think I'm with you, but they may be able to source some information from the Giants/Steelers/Titans/Saints/Raiders/Browns that they're willing to acquire him at the tag price. Given our dire need for picks, even getting a 3rd for him might be worth the risk if you think the interest is there.
  8. They're really going to have to work to figure out if a tag will scare away trade interest. If it doesn't, and you can get something, it's worth it. But it's a dicey gamble.
  9. They staunchly kept the same dummy who hired Urban Meyer and then had two coaches turn them down because he was there.....then fired him once that happened. It's a master class in stupidity.
  10. What a clown show in Jax...
  11. Here's my scenario: Rodgers is bad again. Jets lose a bunch. Jets in position to draft a new QB. Hire offensive young coach for their QB so they fire Glenn.
  12. If you're Glenn...would you wish the old, awful owner died and you dealt with his stupid Madden playing, silver spoon schmos for sons or that he survived your tenure?
  13. Remember our earlier conversation about black coaches and only getting one year? Calling it now on Aaron Glenn.
  14. I think you are correct and I was incorrect, at least in terms of how the Padres operated. Assuming the Twins aee handled similarly would mean no extra package. I hope the providers play ball here in MN too. Good catch.
  15. Maybe we're misunderstanding one another or it's a matter of semantics, but those people on cable and satellite will have to elect an extra subscription to get access. Like adding HBO or some other extra content to their package, they will have to subscribe through their provider. It's not adding a separate provider, but it is adding a separate subscription to their existing package.
  16. I think that would be an excellent idea at the end. The team really needs to be more conscientious about fan outreach and good will.
  17. Excellent news.
  18. I'm seriously happy for them. My biggest beef with the MLB has been their stubborn refusal to help keep eyes on their product rather than prioritizing profit. This current model isn't viable, but in the short term I'm glad it helps them. And I hope the next solution continues to honor their desire to watch the game without shenanigans. I'm not making a moral argument about the goodness of this idea, more of a viability argument about revenues.
  19. That's only a very recent development. And part of why it's become alarming is precisely because it felt borderline free as part of a package. The truth is, you can sit anywhere you want in the country and access any game through your browser if you choose to. The option literally exists at $0 for those who want to put a modicum of effort into finding it. Couple that with the way this price will "feel" like a hike, probably limits things more than most would think. Look, I'm happy for those that have felt shut-out the last few years and like this option. That's great! But the viability of it from a financial or efficiency perspective is a completely different conversation. This has been bandied about here for years and I'll just say this: those of us reiterating the more pessimistic/realistic view have been right time and time again. This is only a patch in hopes of a brighter, more league-wide solution down the line. It isn't sustainable or profitable as is. (Which is why I'd just prefer they make a grand gesture of good will to the fans and make it widely available, no strings attached)
  20. You cited radio sports talk show hosts. You have yet to provide a single shred of evidence to back them. Every one of your complaints is utterly irrelevant to the analysis or the topic. At this point you are back to your usual trolling so I'm out. Good day to you.
  21. I already answered most of this. Using top end projections of 40k subscribers, with an average of 64 ads per game, with 11,000 possible ads. The other media streams haven't changed, we're simply talking about the change from their Ballys payout in the past to this year. After all, this is the only place they are experiencing a change and is the topic of the thread. So your first few paragraphs are purposeful misdirection and irrelevancy. Per usual. I already cited a cost per thousand views and a link. That link tracks with others you are welcome to research. I used the high end (ridiculously high end at $200). Had you read that link between your devotion to Jim Bowden, paragraph 3 would've been unnecessary. I should've known that daytime sports radio hosts are the pinnacles of knowledge and inside information. My bad for asking you to, for the first time ever, actually back one of your arguments with evidence and not conduct this trolling exercise you are ever so good at.
  22. I love how I have to provide more evidence but your evidence is *checks notes* two talking heads on sports radio? And then you do your normal thing - you came here to argue, make a point with flimsy to no evidence, get pinned on it, and then claim total ambiguity on cost certainty and therefore everyone is wrong but you. Somehow. Magic I assume. If only Jim Bowden would share more mysteries of life with us peasants on his glorious sports radio day time talk show. What a world it would be!
  23. Your friendly reminder that there is no worse fan base (not even Philly!) than Notre Dame. They've even managed to get me to root for Ohio freaking State.
  24. The simple truth, is that you can watch any game you want for free with as little information as knowing a reliable streaming site. This price point will get some people and the effort is commendable, it will be so little that they'd be better putting it on for free as an act of good will IMO.
