  1. May has 25 starts, he shouldn't be shunned to the bullpen at this point. The Twins mistakes are compounding now: no reliever signed so now we shuffle May down. 2016 should be about seeing just what May's ceiling really is as a starter.
  2. His career splits aren't great, but they were freaking good last year.
  3. At some point shooting for the moon and missing becomes a bad strategy if you keep missing.
  4. Obama's foreign policy has generally been pretty crappy, I don't consider mimicking that to be a positive.
  5. I think foreign policy decisions may be the most critical over the next four years and there is no one in either party I trust more to avoid huge mistakes, including Hillary.
  6. Why is Milone to the pen never discussed? Are we so hung up on the idea of having a lefty in the rotation that we won't even consider him? His career splits aren't great, but last year he kicked the bejesus out of left handed hitters. Move him to the pen to be a left-handed setup man and give May a shot at being better. Yet some people believe May can only be what he's managed to be in less than a year's worth of starts. (25) What happened to letting a kid adjust. Some of the same people that minimize May's ceiling are the same ones that gave Aaron Hicks and Trevor Plouffe dozens of chances to develop into a functional player. But May is cooked and best for the bullpen?
  7. No matter how you feel about where May should be, deciding this now is absolutely indefensible.
  8. Marriage licenses are ENTIRELY government related. Here, test it yourself: Pick any young religious couple you want. Have them perform ceremonies in every church, synagogue, mosque, or temple in the state and see how "married" they are when they file their taxes. All they did was hold a religious ceremony and no number of priests or pastors is going to amount to anything until a government official files the paperwork. Do whatever you want in your church. That's the ceremony. Marriage is a legal institution and license dispensed by the government to promote social stability. So no, it's absolutely as un-libertarian as I can conceive to be opposed to same sex marriage.
  9. The desire to go around carpet bombing people is a rather large issue, but not the only one. There is also his desire to continue the war on drugs and intervene in social issues. That's not libertarian. You're confusing small government = libertarian. That's a ridiculous over simplification to the point of falsehood.
  10. I agree, I do see how he could rub people the wrong way. But I think he'd be far and away the most competent person in the field right now. Moreso even than Hillary in many ways.
  11. What's ironic is hearing you stretch the definition of libertarian to absurdity while also whining about Trump calling himself Republican.
  12. Libertarian has always meant socially liberal and fiscally conservative as a rough approximation. Those are the main principles. If you are a social conservative you are not a libertarian. You are injecting government into individual choices. There is nothing more anti-libertarian. It has nothing to do with being anti-military, it has to do with abusing the function of the military. It's also about holding the military accountable for spending rather than constantly ramping up spending. What you are is a fiscally conservative, socially conservative hawk. That ain't libertarian and neither is Gomer.
  13. There is no "your kind" of libertarian. Libertarians want less government. Proposing to carpet bomb ISIS and all his other middle east policies is more like Bush/Cheney and Obama/Hillary than it is libertarian. Jesus, is this what conservatives think being a libertarian is? Are so many of us going to have to retreat to some other definition or group so as not to associate with Gomer and whatever invented definition you and other neo-cons want to use? Ugh. Just....ugh.
  14. Then you aren't a libertarian either. This is a term that has been co-opted by Republicans (largely because it has the word "liberty" in it) so that they can try and swing voters. But they completely misunderstand it. Libertarians believe in this. So his opposition to gay marriage is as un-libertarian as humanly possible. As is his abortion stance. Carpet bombing another country is being a neo-con. Opposes drug legalization. He co-sponsered reauthorizing the Patriot Act. Just because he's posing as a libertarian in some ways to get Paul's voting base, doesn't make him a libertarian. He's a neo-con who has done a few libertarian things here and there, that's it.
  15. You seem to be stuck on the meta-data thing. Yes, Cruz took a libertarian angle on that one thing. On every social issue and on foreign policy is he is absolutely not a libertarian.
  16. I don't understand how Rand Paul doesn't get more respect. His response to Christie's air space/Russia comments were wonderful and refreshing to hear. At the very least they need to keep him on that stage to keep some of the jackassery in check.
  17. Well that's just false. Cruz is absolutely not a libertarian. You clearly don't understand what that means.
  18. Cruz is a libertarian? You should perhaps look into what a libertarian actually is. Cuz it damn sure isn't Gomer Cruz.
  19. That's all you got?
  20. That's the key. Romney would be an absolutely excellent candidate this year. The problem is the Republican base and the way they cannibalize their own, forcing them to say ridiculously stupid things to prove their "conservative" chops.
  21. Probably not. I don't think we advance this ball-club's future much by pushing another arm (Duffey likely) to the pen for a gamble on Lee. If you could tell me that Milone moves to the pen and we dump Nolasco for a bag of balls - then I'm in.
  22. Does anyone have access to their cable deal? All I could find is that it's worth 29M a year, but how long they are locked in for is a mystery. To contrast that with Arizona (a similar market size), the D-backs new deal guarantees them about 80-90M annually. That's an enormous difference that I think people need to take into consideration. Every team that has recently signed one of these cable deals has immediately pumped it into payroll and big FA splashes. (On the flip side, the Twins signing the 29M deal is their own fault too) But I'm not sure they can renegotiate anything with FSN, that's probably something in the contract that we aren't privy to.
  23. This. Cruz will do nothing more (and I'm not even sure he can do this) but carry the partisan vote. He make actually drive voters to Hillary. Elections are not won by the bases, it's why Bush and Obama won, both of them appealed to moderates in the middle. (Or, their opponents didn't in some cases and they got the votes by default)
  24. Jimmer's right, it was a Mr. Tripoli that Malvo killed. So Hanzee had surgery to become a fat, white guy and get killed like that? Seems...odd. I actually liked the Milligan twist. It's like his own personal hell is a reward for his good work. Really fine season of television.
  25. I think some of those answers may be hard to swallow and potentially unfixable.
