  1. It's true if your argument for Meyer's value is limited to team control.
  2. Santiago has certainly been bad so far, that doesn't necessarily change things. 6 years of Alex Meyer matters about as much as me offering my services to the team for six years. Hell, to this point, by not even being on the team I might have helped more than Meyer has to this point.
  3. If every season the team was rebuilding we could take a couple minor league deal relievers and flip them into guys picked around 30-40 in a past draft at the trade deadline....I'd call that a damn fine strategy. Hanging on to Kintzler if such offers are out there would be head-slap stupid.
  4. What makes me laugh is the notion you'd reject an Abad-like return for him.
  5. We should be trying to trade him. Aggressively. But if we can't find anything, then we should bring him back.
  6. This. And then the team doubled down on it's stupidity by teasing May with having a shot at the rotation that never really existed. You teach pitchers for years to be creatures of habit and then you give them little to no transition to a totally different set of habits and you expect it to just work out? I know it does sometimes, but this team always seems to go 0 to 60 with these pitcher conversions and that's just unwise.
  7. I've never really understood who Garfield was aimed at. I assumed Crazy Cat Lady types. Even as a kid with the Garfield and Friends show...I never understood it.
  8. Cyanide and Happiness are good, I can't say I know Bloom County all that well. I'd rank Far Side, Peanuts, and Calvin and Hobbes as top three. You're right when you say C + H lining up with our childhood was a part of it, but I've enjoyed that strip at every stage of my life and now re-enjoying it as a father of a son. (Who, by the way, is named Calvin) I don't think any other comic manages to be so profound, so whimsical, so philosophical, so heartfelt, so utterly in tune to the essence and spirit of childhood, and so creatively able to capture the human condition. It's just so perfect. Far Side is witty and philosophical and profound, but not whimsical or heartfelt. Peanuts has many of the traits of Calvin and Hobbes but, for me, feels overtaken in every one of them.
  9. I don't want to dismiss Schultz, just firmly praise his silver medal performance.
  10. What did Odie ever do to you man?
  11. I guess it depends on what you mean by "supremacy". If it's quality I don't think there is a contender with Calvin and Hobbes. But I agree that Peanuts was groundbreaking and paved the way. But I don't give Peanuts extra quality points just because they were an inspiration. Both, however, are great. Far Side too.
  12. Did one of you go away for a couple years so you weren't able to just agree it's Calvin and Hobbes and move on? I mean, seriously, everyone is racing for second place here.

  15. It wouldn't shock me one bit if Trump claimed to have Sexlexia.
  16. This.....is....awesome.
  17. I think at least four times I got confused whether you were being sarcastic or serious. I just shot for the ol' middle.
  18. So really only one battle ground state. That is good news for Hillary.
  19. I agree, I'd like to see him get better. I'd also like him to get a nice, long chance to do so. Without relocating him in preposterous places around the field for stupid reasons preferably.
  20. Listen, he's super athletic. He can do whatever we want him to. Let's have him pitch and play CF. At the same time.
  21. All of these polls are of "registered voters" - how many of these battleground states have same day registration?
  22. Sorry Brock. I've been converted. I now want Avery to be named our new overlord. I yearn to be under the yoke of his oppressive rule. I have given myself over in heart and soul. Praise Avery. (Now I'm in the right. Right?)
  23. The only Olympic sport worth watching these days is hockey. When is that on?
  24. The list of starters we chose to roll with instead of May only makes the decision more embarrassing.
