  1. I think the adjective is informative on the legitimacy of the argument. Saying 2023 is "bad" because you got one player (who you also purposely diminished the value of) speaks to a deeply unfair framing. His drafting hasn't been good. It was a disaster in 2022, it was alright given we only had a 1st and late picks in 2023, and our returns on the last two are TBD. It isn't a strength, but I dont need a disingenuous argument to conclude that.
  2. I mean, if you don't like the first two paragraphs and it offends your politics, then you might want to consider how well your politics are aligned with reality. I have no doubt the very rich people will grease the wheels to make sure they keep their advantage. Much to my chagrin.
  3. Your argument was that 2023 was evidence of bad drafting because they "only" got Addison. But they dealt the second and third most impactful potential picks to get Hockenson. Who is still on the team as a key part. I don't know how there is any rational way to call 2023 "bad" given they came away with Addison, Hockenson, and possibly Blackmon. You could've argued it doesn't count good or bad because they traded so many picks, but instead you argued on the quantity of quality players they got, purposely leaving out that they dealt key picks to add a quality player. Then called it "bad" based on that framework where you deliberately omitted value. That just isn't a fair way to do it.
  4. Ty France is absolutely replaceable. He's below average offensively (93 OPS+) and he's not a good defender. The Twins should be targeting a young player for that position. Veteran? No. Young player? Yes. And yes....they do have the depth to make such a move. And yes....they should be making that sort of move.
  5. You called the '23 draft bad but omitted all context to do it. You're not making a fair argument.
  6. One of the key values in building a pitching pipeline is using it to fill gaps in the lineup. This team should absolutely be in the market for a Colby Mayo or someone else they can add from their depth.
  7. It's worth remembering also that Kwesi and KOC got hired under an ownershi mandate not to tank or strip assets. Part of why the 2022 draft was a disaster was a desperation to replace the depleted depth on the team. It sucked, but can you name another franchise that has pulled off the "competitive rebuild"?
  8. I'm not sure it's good yet either, partly because Blackmon lost all of last year. But if he's a solid corner I am willing to slide that draft to "good". And no, that's not a sustainable model, but the team has done other things to help make that workable. They let the average, overpriced QB go. They have made good undrafted moves. They've pounced in free agency at great prices. Now the last two drafts have to step up. I'm just stumping for fair criticism is all. That haul is not "bad" by any rational definition.
  9. Especially Julien. His hitting approach seemed so damn solid and then....wham. He's awful.
  10. Yet another win that shows this team has a clubhouse that is working. They have fight.
  11. I'm not trying to argue he's "good" at drafting, but the argument should be made fairly. 2022 was an unmitigated disaster. 2024 and 2025 are TBD. But 2023? Those picks yielded Addison, Hockenson, and Blackmon. How in any fair analysis is that "bad"?
  12. So we count the Hockenson trade as a negative against drafting ability? Addison is going to get a monster 2nd contract from someone.
  13. How are we calling 2023 bad?
  14. I think the bottom line is there is still an injury the team and Royce have decided he's going to play through. As stated in another thread - I really thought we learned our lesson with Buxton on this. It's not good for the player or the team. Get the kid healthy.
  15. Or just do universal health care like the rest of the damned world. For a country of people that hates when middle-men and inefficiency get involved, we sure built an entire health-care system of maximizing both of those concepts.
  16. It's tough, but to me you've gotta get someone else to play the bulk of your PG minutes. I mean, if it's Dilly that's great, but they don't seem to trust him. Trae Young? Lonzo Ball? Coby White? I'd also like to see the 17th pick used on another big. I think I'd bring back Randle and Reid, let NAW walk, bring in Coby White/Lonzo Ball. But Connelly make get aggressive.
  17. Time to find a point guard. If it's Dilly....great, but find one.
  18. Just wait until they roll in another failed business venture debt to the sale at the 11th hour!
  19. I guess here's what confuses me: why does he look like Mostly-Normal Royce on defense and Retirement-Home Royce at the plate and running? I would think his injury would roughly impact both sides of the ball equally. If anything I'd expect it to hurt him in the field more than standing at the plate. Yet.....the reverse seems to be true? I think someone needs to pull him aside and tell him that everyone appreciates that he's a gamer and is trying to help the team. But right now he's too hurt to do it. Spin it whatever way you need to for him to get right before he comes back.
  20. He seriously plays like a freaking maniac. He's so frantic defenses just get flustered. The Wolves won't shoot 50% from three, but maybe we can find the happy medium after tonight. I definitely like the fact that we're daring SGA to shoot long twos. We're giving them nothing to work with low.
  21. This is what a well managed clubhouse looks like when facing adversity. You just won't hear the usual chorus give praise at even a fraction of the ludicrous criticism. Team is playing good baseball.
  22. By far the best ownership group we've had over that stretch of time. Low bar....but still!
