  1. Hey! In another thread we blamed Rocco for foolishly "trying to win". So....progress?
  2. Disagree. It's objectively true that he has a lot of room for improvement. Because he's terrible. And likely will continue to be. :) (And I say that as a guy that wanted him to be the primary 1B)
  3. Clemens should not be the plan. I'm happy he's doing well, but counting on that would be a mistake. The team needs to bring in someone else at some point.
  4. This feels like a series where Shannon and Clark need to get off the bench. At this point Donte has played himself out of the rotation, he's been AWFUL. Put Clark in. And we need Shannon's reckless abandon runs at the net. We have only Ant and somewhat Julius playing at the basket right now. Put Shannon in and let him play his style (which I liken to what I imagine someone who just took an inhuman amount of cocaine would do if they could be a pro basketball player) and see if it shakes this up.
  5. To be clear....you're mad the manager is making decisions to win games over giving 28 year old career minor leaguers chances? Well.....that's a take.
  6. Yeah, it's shallow. The even bigger concern to me is where do you even look to find an upgrade? Mayo in Baltimore but it's going to cost you Festa or Matthews. Spencer Steer return? Ryan McMahon? Versatile, good defensive player......664 OPS away from Coors. Am I missing anyone on a current team of dregs that could be moved? I hope the summer shakes out some better options.
  7. His production would be a lot easier to swallow if he was good at 1B. At this point....I really hope that's a spot we can upgrade this summer if we stay in it. That said....the league is not strong at 1B. It's a shockingly weak position in the modern game.
  8. Hell yeah, let's play by the same rules on both sides of the ball then! I'm really sick of the general frame of mind for NFL rules is "It's ok for me (offense) but not for thee (defense)" Personally, I'd whistle all plays dead when foreward momentum has stopped and outlaw any player pushing a ball-carrier. Allow foreward progress, but disallow the offense to push.
  9. If it's legal to push a pile forward for extra yards, the defense should get the same perk. Let's allow a LB to carry some slot receiver five yards back. Concept is the same.
  10. I would like all those blatent imbalances to end. Including pushing downfield. If the offense claims forward progress, they shouldn't also get to shove a guy whose progress is ending. Rules shouldn't be this lopsided.
  11. Turnovers and 3 point percentage will decide this series. Let's hope the NBA put in a call that the gritty basketball of the first two rounds is acceptable with SGA too. McDaniels got at least two fouls that were laughably bad.
  12. Yeah, I don't like it. I think if you're going to let Rugby scrums happen like that you're going to need to consider other rule changes to balance that out. For example - there is no pass play audible in Rugby. If you're going to tush push, you should have to declare it and allow the defense to adjust. Also, in Rugby, the defense can link arms in order to push back. Right now it's heavily imbalanced, due to football rules, towards the offense. I'm not a proponent of any concept (offense or defense) standing if it has a significant imbalanced advantage.
  13. Sorry for your loss. Appreciate the vulnerability and reminder that there are people out there that just need to feel loved.
  14. Heh, in fairness I was referring to ownership. Which in our case isn't so much about loyalty but about pinching pennies.
  15. Pittsburgh operates on a completely different level on job security. They accept that, I can't think of a single other franchise who would. I think Shanahan has two years left, but the gloss is off and SF is about to implode. So I'm with you on the general vibe of that prediction. Their 11ish over/under for wins this year feels like free money on the under.
  16. I'm a diehard for the first game. But I was good with the story ending there and never touched the second one. So far this season is confirming I made the right choice.
  17. That's fair. I guess I'd just say there isn't much job security in fielding a middling roster, with a middling QB making 50M a year either.
  18. Agreed, this reflects amazingly on the Vikings and KOC and horrifically on Caleb Williams.
  19. The show is at it's best when it is dealing with Joel/Elly and parenting. It was a great episode. This season has had two absolute bangers.....and the rest has been really, really bad. Like...I almost gave up on the series before last night.....kinds of bad.
  20. The difference is the Steelers have an elite defense and a few other high-end pieces. The 49ers roster is not good. Fred Warner, Nick Bosa, and a bunch of randos. The offensive line is not good. (I may be making a vast understatement there) I think the answer is yes - you dealt Deebo. You let a bunch of dudes walk in FA. It was time to punt. Their offseason was the equivalent of drawing a ten yard penalty on first down, throwing two incompletes, and then running a screen for 10 yards. It's time to punt.
  21. 2024: Lose-lose 2025: Twins win. The Seattle side of the ledger doesn't include Polanco because they declined the option and signed him as a FA. But it's a mild win with potential for bigger gains if the kid in A ball progresses and keeps hitting.
  22. Right, they have good teams....but the West is usually much, much deeper. Orlando is in the lottery if they are in the west.
  23. All good things come to an end. Royce in the field and at the plate....awesome. Hopefully we're seeing the real Royce again to help carry this offense.
  24. Right. Sure...the Celtics are good. But it seems like my entire life the 10th seed in the West feels about as good as the 4 or 5 out East.
  25. I see this decision as akin to if the Vikings had shelled out a huge deal to Darnold. I guess we'll see how things play out, but McAffery isn't getting younger. Nor is their offensive line. Deebo is gone. The defense is young and unproven. It's not even close to the team he walked into and looked that good IMO.
