  1. Understanding prospect bust rates is exactly why i wanted Dozier dealt! We simply don't have enough upside young pitching in our organization.
  2. Pfft, I'm going to go buy a yacht and then on my way home buy the lottery ticket I plan to pay for it with. What could go wrong?
  3. You may well be right. But every year we say that it feels like the odds of him every being a contributor go down significantly.
  4. I think party demographics play a role too. Plus, staying informed and active on the lower level requires a lot more work. And, for whatever reason, conservatives are far more dogged about that. We need lefty groups to spend more energy and focus there because state and local laws are slowly squeezing us to death regardless of who is POTUS.
  5. I disagree with most of your post but I get your position. But man....this line? That's just really poor reasoning. "This is either great for us or we fall victim to dumb bad luck" is a poor way to analyze the success or failure of this.
  6. I genuinely hope this doesn't blow up in our face. I'm also going to be far from shocked if it does.
  7. Dude. We're going to lead the league in 9-8 losses. Probably in 10-7 losses as well. C'mon....chin up!
  8. Prior to those three months we had 2 months of Pumpkin and the second half of the previous year as well. If dealing him is dead (and I believe it is for this offseason) than I'm rooting for Babe Dozier. We now have to hope to get really lucky to make a deal happen that might approach this kind of value. The past few years are not friendly for dealing hitters for packages centered on Top 30 prospects. So, here's to bucking the odds I guess.
  9. Well, let's hope Pumpkin Dozier doesn't come back.
  10. Betsy DeVos is an absolute menace in the making. Menace.
  11. He's improved his agility and reflexes dodging legos strewn on the floor? It really should be an olympic event.
  12. Gerrymandering was achieved, in part, because of it too.
  13. I came in with low expectations and still managed to get surprised by how bad the list is.
  14. You mean last year when he struck out 90 guys in 140 innings and Thorpe was hurt? What the hell kind of comparison is that? Kohl Stewart was a top pick and he continues to strike out guys at a Nick Blackburnian pace. That's an issue.
  15. That he's significantly outperformed Stewart? Or, maybe even more inarguably, that's he's significantly outperformed expectations as opposed to under-performing expectations.
  16. Exactly why my wife and I watched it. I'd almost say it's worth it, just because the ending is so profoundly stupid and unbelievable you almost have to see it. If I tried to describe the plot in words you'd think I had lost my mind.
  17. It'd be nice if we didn't have to have the Court swoop in and save us from utterly preposterous legislation like this. We've got to fix the midterm election process from the left. You want to talk about ways the left won't have to compromise so much? Have some god damn presence at local and state levels.
  18. I tend to believe 2017 is going to make or break Kohl Stewart. One more year of mulling around with inconsistency and lower expectations and I think it's time to give up the ghost. Or he shocks us and gives us some hope in our pitching minors.
  19. Yeah, really bothersome. And toss in some of the Benny Hill-like defense we saw the last few years and people are really going to dismiss the value of defense? That Polanco can out-hit his defensive performance? It's when you hear stuff like that, that I start to wonder how people are forming their opinions. It's ok to admit your favorite team is making a mistake. And this infield could be a major mistake.
  20. Just to offer the flip side, it's possible they kept this deal on the back burner hoping the Twins would come down from their demands as well. For me, this confirms my worst fear - neither side was being reasonable. I can't believe we couldn't find a way to make this work. It's a huge setback IMO.
  21. We should start a thread trying to predict what miracle elixir will be written about for Mauer this spring. I'm going with Pilates.
  22. it's a TV show, but I vote The OA. Really interesting premise ends with Interprative Dance moves saving a totally left-field final episode climax. Worst use of 8 hours of my time in a long, long time.
  23. I'd love to see a remake of King's The Stand. The TV movie wasn't bad, but it has that schlocky Sci-Fi Channel feel. That was a really engrossing story.
  24. True, in this case (especially with this position), I don't think that's happening. And I'd rather not learn that lesson the hard way again. I've learned that lesson enough for a lifetime the last few years.
  25. Enough that my brain started to hurt. The only thing more painful was seeing how wrong it was come to life in RF.
