  1. Some nice talent still available at OT and all over the front seven.
  2. They could all be poor players, yes. They could all be good. The measuring stick later will be how impactful they are relative to Hughes. Time will tell. This FO has hit far more than they have missed, they deserve some trust for that IMO.
  3. The problem is your assumption that we are passing on help. There have been a lot of OL taken early over the years that wouldn't have helped us at all. We could Treadwell (draft need) our whole line by taking them early if that makes you feel better. I wouldn't feel better though.
  4. Or we could be. But I'm not the one applying the problematic logic.
  5. Yes, both can be true.
  6. The more this year unfolds, the more I wish it had been Gomez and not LoMo.
  7. Crosby is my favorite tackle left, Daniels is my favorite guard, and Lorenzo Carter is my favorite future Barr replacement.
  8. They do Need to get better at identifying good prospects on the line. I would also say they need to get better at tight end as well.
  9. I did some digging into the offensive line of the Eagles. They have a 6th round pick at Center a fifth-round pick at tackle two low end free-agent signings and one top 5 pick. Just for the record. (Edit: one of the free agents was not low end, Brooke sign for 8 million)
  10. Right, but they found their offensive lineman in a multitude of ways. Not just with high picks I'm with you on the corner back Whisperer criticism. You can call yourself a Whisperer if you are turning third-round cornerbacks into all Pros. But needing first-round Talent implies it's more about the talent than your ability to whisper.
  11. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theringer.com/platform/amp/nfl/2017/11/2/16596392/offensive-line-crisis-league-midseason Worth a read.
  12. In twice as much time yes. So not all that different. Packers have made a living off of drafting guards in the third and fourth rounds. I value line play as much as any football fan out there. But the way college coaches are coaching lineman means that many of them are simply not ready for the NFL. And if that's the case and you have a project on your hand either way, why not wait till later to draft your projects?
  13. Post 147 absolutely does imply that Mike. Isn't it okay for the team to feel that some positions are best left for other rounds in the draft? Teams prioritize that way all the time.
  14. You insinuate they don’t value line play, yet the team has spent a ton of money there. So That seems demonstrably false.
  15. Belichek has drafted two OL in the first round in his time in New England. Two. Wynn is only the third. Mankind was over a decade ago.
  16. That said, If they do go line, I think Crosby from Oregon is a great zone-scheme fit.
  17. Have you actually looked at the data on that? You commonly have this complaint but it feels unfounded. Plenty of good teams have built their lines without first rounders, including the Patriots. And that’s to say nothing of how easy/hard it is relative to other positions. What’s more common.....good OG in the NFL drafted 4th or later or CB? And I haven’t even mentioned the growing issues many GMs have with how unprepared lineman are for the NFL due to air raid schemes and other issues.
  18. Depends who you read, but it’s hard to get picks when people are afraid to throw at you. IMO, interception totals are a severely overrated stat to care about. We took a very good OL in the third last year, plenty of time to add one. Though I would love to see Lorenzo Carter or Dallas Goedert as the next pick too.
  19. Reaching for need is always a mistake. I like Hughes a lot.
  20. Personally, I like the choice. This kid plays CB the way I like to see it played - physical, feisty, tenacious, etc. And he's a sick athlete.
  21. If Molitor ran Gibson out for another inning and he started getting shellacked this thread would be bashing him for it. I appreciate those that are at least attempting fairness in their criticism.
  22. I predict they take a CB, S, or DL that unexpectedly falls due to the QB rush with the first pick. Then they take one of the many solid OL still available later. (But I very much prefer they trade back)
  23. Yeah, he won't finish. A lot of people have criticized the show for their choices (with good cause in some cases) but I think the real problems stem with the author. And I worry he's realized that himself and has all but given up the ghost.
  24. I would like to suggest that I take Kinley's roster spot. I'll only be marginally worse and they can sign me to a 10 year deal for the minimum and they'll never have to play musical chairs with their throw-away 25th spot on the roster for a decade.
