  1. Lucroy signs for a little over 3M. Good buy-low deal.
  2. Last year there were a lot of projected 2nd roundguards too....and almost all of them went in the first and early 2nd. There is a serious scarcity of good linemen. Because of that, I would be cautious about those rankings.
  3. I think he was suggesting you could replace Richardson in the second or third round and reallocate that money. Maybe to the offensive line.
  4. Wilson flashed some potential, I wouldn't be surprised if he is Plan A to replace Barr. But you have to draft a guy in the top 4 rounds if you don't resign Barr. I don't think Reiff is anything but a LT. If I remember, he was really bad at RT. And cutting or trading him will carry some expensive dead cap hits. I thought O'Neil lookied surprisingly good though.
  5. What Mike said. Not a word in this I disagree with.
  6. Oklahoma's Cody Ford. That's who I want with the first pick. I think you could probably land another guard like Dieter in the third. But who knows, linemen flew off the board last year. Josh Oliver might be an interesting target in the draft at TE. Here's an early name at OLB I like: Vosean Joseph out of Florida. But I very much agree with your rankings. Here's the upside - having only four needs is not bad. Downside? The FA class of linemen is god awful. Which, makes sense really. Linemen in the NFL are awful by and large.
  7. Both Spielman and Zimmer have one year left, so you are probably right. Cutting Sendejo, Rudolph, and Remmers will give this team 30M in cap space. Griffin could also be cut for another 10M. But the team will need TE, DT, LB, OG, and maybe WR on their shopping list. O'Neill looks to have been a good pick, so that helps. Richardson may be willing to return too. I hope we're done with Rudolph though.
  8. Zimmer's defense wasn't good enough this year for him to have been so meddling in the offense. I do think there is something to being outcoached too. Today the Bears beat us at home running preseason, vanilla stuff.
  9. Zimmer wants a 1970s offense. That might be the biggest strike against him.
  10. Zimmer runs the defense, has been given the vast majority of high picks to stock it, and several free agents. For all that investment we got medocrity. I like Zimmer, but I'm not sure he earned staying. Spielman's draft record is pretty damn impressive. Careful what you wish for if you fire him.
  11. I think the talent is there and underperforming. Which puts the onus on the coach. I've been in his corner since day 1, but I think firing Zimmer is justified. I'd keep Spielman.
  12. I had/have accepted that. Then a hypothetical was posed that made the matter more confusing. Subsequent explanations to me and Brooks have only furthered confusion. That hypothetical, and the dubious logic behind it, are to blame. But I'm done with it, Ashbury is right, clarity here is a futile endeavor beyond what has been said.
  13. Holy monkey balls Nick. You introduced a theoretical in post 56. Could you go back and read that again? Maybe, just maybe, you can see how that wasn’t a productive way to illustrate your point. I’ll let it drop here, but it’s really unfair to Frame your stance as cold hard facts and mine as hypothetical after you laid out that scenario. And it’s that scenario that lead to this point.
  14. Please go read Nick's hypothetical again and save your obtuse accusations.
  15. Fine. Though I'd have an easier time not pressing if the responses stopped becoming more vexing each time. We went from a loose, easy enough explanation to trying to argue in a hypothetical whether you'd take Gordon (a fringe topp 100 prospect) or a dude who just got waived. And it was implied that the waiver claim is the right answer. Now my brain hurts trying to wrap around that.
  16. What Gordon could fetch in a trade is absolutely better than Cron. That should not be a disputed claim. Unless you think Gordon is worth less than it took to acquire Cron. Do you think Gordon's value is beneath nothing?
  17. And even if he's not, Nick can't possibly, seriously contend Nick Gordon's value is less than nothing or Luis Gil. Which is sorta what he suggested. So going back to the scenario Nick posed...no one in their right mind would refuse Gordon for Cave or Cron. You'd make that swap in a heartbeat and sign Adam Jones. Or some other 4th outfielder. Or deal for Santana. And you'd come out way ahead. If the FO refused a Gordon-esque prospect for Cron or CaveI'd want them immediately fired.
  18. Sure! But then Wander Javier being 16th ahead of all three makes absolutely no sense. He will provide nothing to this Twins team. Jay made a great post on the first page, I'd suggest Nick take it under consideration as this series continues.
  19. Santana from the Brewers was just dealt for far less than Gordon. I get being intrigued by Cave, but guys like him are ST casualties all the time. Arguing either Cron or Cave is more valuable than Gordon is completely unsupported by facts.
  20. He declined to play for one of the top 3 teams in the league in a better climate. He chose money. As would most all human beings. I’d like to think this is our nail in the coffin scenario for the “it isn’t all about the money” nonsense.....but I’m not that optimistic. Cruz is the norm, not the exception....so good for him to cash in on his success.
  21. Lofty? Who said that? Shall we review the cost the Twins had to pay to acquire these guys? (Hint: one was nothing) You think Gordon has less value than that?
  22. Um....that seems like a no brainer Nick. I can replace Cron or Cave pretty inexpensively. Acquiring fringe top 100 prospects? Not so much.
  23. I don't want to argue about the rankings, I will just try to make sense of them the best I can. But it seems to me that the Twins almost certainly could trade Gordon tomorrow for a significantly better player than Cron or Cave to help this organization.
