  1. There is and it was a wonderful breath of fresh air. But let's not pretend Ryan's dabbling in FA has ever made much sense. Even under restrictive payrolls he nickel'd and dime'd rather than sought true upgrades. (Just look at some of the wasted millions between 2005-2008 that, if combined, might have actually added someone who could play baseball effectively) So fair or not, Ryan has a reputation he has to buck to make people believe he's changed his stripes.
  2. You lost me at "W" is the most telling statistic. Sorry.
  3. Gibson has taken a really positive step forward. If he continues this kind of pitching he's a real asset and probably better considered a #3 and a solid one at that.
  4. Looks like they moved him to the pen with a promotion to AAA, so far so good on the experiment but nothing notable. Just solid production.
  5. I was aiming at the dream big of a designated TD scout. Maybe reaching out to fans in our affiliate regions.
  6. The armchair GM: Mogul and OTB are both options for this and I know there are many here that use them. I'm into mogul and could help there if people are interested. My suggestion: more direct prospect observations like jokin posted this week. Maybe have your own prospect scout attending games for a week to get some real nitty-gritty dirt on guys?
  7. Plus, who cares? It's at the expense of Willingham right now, as it should be.
  8. The pressures of MLB hasn't stopped the Twins from keeping Arcia up as he's flailing. My biggest issue last year with Gibson and now again here is the rationales offered by the Twins. Mostly because there is nothing rational about their rationales. I hope they are making some kind of sense to Meyer behind the scenes (how I have no clue) ....because all the messages being sent by the team's words and actions would seriously irritate me if I were him.
  9. You mean via waivers we didn't pick up an unblemished future superstar! I'm aghast!
  10. I'm a little excited because at least this wasn't a burned out former Twin with no upside. Baby steps.
  11. Hicks will see plenty of fringe MLB starting pitchers in AAA, that's where he needs to go next. We know he can't hit MLB pitching so there is no need to run him out there for another couple hundred at-bats to watch weak contact and flailing from the left side. Let's get him right - that's so much more important for the long term.
  12. Exactly, Brandon Moss was a flyer by the A's. The Twins should try out more of these guys for lesser roles and hope for good things. Especially when they aren't in the way of anyone.
  13. You know what's true about a buy low? You'll convince yourself by the numbers that the guy has no talent...that's what makes him easy to get. A guy that can play all over the outfield, has speed, and was once highly thought of? What the hell is the downside given where we're at with this outfield? Looks like a move with some upside to me, however slight it might be.
  14. Boston got some interesting buy-low value for Lackey.
  15. But we included Brian Duensing....therefore by the Duensin Rule we get anyone we want! Having to find a replacement for him and the Duensing Rule is a clear reason to keep him.
  16. MUCH better....you are a wizard sir.
  17. Nope, I see the total number of threads and posts....is it a setting I have to change?
  18. Thanks, that's helpful! (Still would love to see the other display, but I might warm up to this new way)
  19. Brock, I noticed on the mobile site I get to see who the last poster was and when, but ont he desktop version I only see who started it. I LOVE seeing who was the last to post and when. (I know the stars/circles help mark this too but it's nice to see) To piggy-back after Seth a bit....when I click on the forums link I basically find that page useless now. Before I could click on that page and see if anything was going on in the More Baseball, Football, Ask Twins Daily, or the Sports Bar. Using the circles and stars to keep track in Twins Talk and Minor Leagues is easy because they are high frequency, but at this point I don't know a way to see if one of the other forums has a discussion going on without literally clicking on the subforum. As someone that frequents those forums when something interesting is going on it's kind of a pain to check every subforum daily when the conversations are more infrequent. Without that convenience, the forum page is basically worthless, especially with the guitar pick acting in it's place. I hate to sound unappreciative and complainy (I really do like the new look!)....just something that I've noticed being a pain. Maybe there is a better way to navigate that I need to be instructed of.
  20. Brock, when I clicked on this article on the quick-link on the right, I couldn't reply. I had to go through Chi's link to find a way to post. Not sure how that was possible or why. I love the look! Any way we can change it so that we don't see who started a thread but who the last post was by and when? I just could care less when a thread was started, but stars or not it's nice to see when threads were last posted on. Just a personal preference, not sure if I'm alone in that.
