  1. He would never have been durable enough to make it through three years of collegiate football.
  2. I don't trust that my definition of an ace is the same as Terry Ryan's. Brad Radke is not an ace.
  3. Platooning Hicks and Arcia makes so much sense that it will ever happen. Arcia can start against right handed pitchers and get his 3-4 AB. Hicks can pinch run or be defensive replacement in a late innings lead situation and start against lefties, leaving Arcia available to PH for any number of our light hitters. Basically how we used Gomez/Kubel late in 2009.
  4. Just wait Beane out. He'll eventually get bored.
  5. My buddy just said, "It's like watching a game between Real Madrid and Barcelona."
  6. This is the type of home field advantage I wish the Twins could get. The crowd (aside from throwing **** onto the field) is just going nuts.
  7. This is just nuts. Easily the craziest inning I've ever seen as the benches have now cleared and people are running around the outfield!
  8. ANOTHER CRAZY PLAY!
  9. Is Elvis Andrus throwing this game?
  10. Is Choo credited with the game winning hit? I mean he put the ball in play, right?
  11. That was a crazy play. I agree they got it right. I remember at the end of the 2004 season Krod almost cost the Angels the division because he was pouting over a non called third strike and didn't catch the return throw from the catcher to allow the winning run to score.
  12. Absolutely.
  13. My issue with that play in particular was that it looked like Valbuena was tagging him with his wrist and not his glove? Is his wrist supposedly part of his hand to where that tag still applies?
  14. Gibbons taking Dickey out for Price in the fifth inning when Dickey is sailing along and they are up six is just a terrible, terrible move.
  15. Can Gattis catch anymore?
  16. BUTERRIBLE takes notes from Mauer and walks with runners on second and third!
  17. Butera lining up to be the hero here!!!!
  18. That is ridiculous.
  19. I miss Hal McRae.
  20. He has hinted that we'd be busier than you'd expect virtually every offseason.
  21. Gardy dealing with those two would be glorious, particularly Papelbon, who I think should be gone anyway.
  22. Here are the things that irritate me the most about Molitor's managerial style: 1. Bullpen usage- I could say this about every single manager in the game but what is the point of burning through six guys every night? In spring training we heard about how he'd ask relievers to pitch multiple innings. That lasted about two weeks. Boyer and Thompson were leading the league in appearances for much of the season. That should go to your best pitchers not the two guys you least want to see in a game. 1b) Along the same lines, you would hope an ex-player would not have been so hamstrung by pitch counts. Now we don't even ask our starters to throw 100 pitches. Mid 90s and they're out. If a starter was ineffective he still throws the same amount of pitches. Get them out of there early when it's obvious they don't have it and leave them in longer when they are breezing through the game or there's a big lead. 2) Pinch running/Pinch Hitting usage- DON'T PINCH RUN FOR SANO WHEN YOU'RE DOWN 2 AND HE'S NOT EVEN THE TYING BASE RUNNER. Why is Santana his preferred pinch hitter? He had a horrific OBP and now extra base power at all. You are using up players for no reason. Due to his bullpen usage, we have had to play with a short bench all season long. We can't use up two players in one move that really doesn't even improve the situation at all. 3) His love affair with certain players- Everyone has favorites, I get it. I just wish they would be my favorites so I wouldn't have to see so much of Santana, Robinson, Boyer, Thompson. Luckily, this diminished as the season went on. Listing the things I believe Molitor is successful at is much tougher as there is not tangible data for any of it, but it is my opinion that he manages a clubhouse well. I don't believe this roster was very talented but he somehow got them above .500. Either good club house chemistry, leadership, or good karma. I don't remember if he was allowed to choose his own coaching staff but the fact that we don't have Rick Anderson means he is better than Gardy in this regard. I don't know how much of this can be learned, adapted, or just changed by having better personnel. I would not give Molitor any MOY votes and I really struggle to rate him more than a C or C+.
  23. Can you imagine how pissed we'd all be at this Rangers-Angels game? Angels score five (and counting) in the ninth to take an 11-10 lead.
