Well, Dusty Baker is the lineup equivalent of Gardenhire's play second, bat second. Baker really likes his center fielders to lead off. Darren Lewis, Darryl Hamilton, Marvin Benard, Calvin Murray, Shawon Dunston (playing center AND leading off!!!), Corey Patterson, Shin-Soo Choo. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't, but it always happens. If Revere plays center he will lead off!

This and we'll turn to Mastroainni instead because we can't have any emotion in the clubhouse.

Pretty sure Oakland won the Iwakuma bid originally with no desire to sign him, only to prevent him from signing with a division rival. Of course he ended up signing with Seattle a couple years later anyway.

    This.

I'm not sure if this is a list of his favorite teammates or a list of the best players that were his teammates. Including Bonds and Arod make you believe the latter; including Radke, Tewksbury, and Hocking make you believe the former.

We are going to regret getting rid of Arcia... and at this point I don't see a way he is here long term and that is frustrating to me.

    Denorfia/Jay/Tabata/Sweeney here we come...

The guy has a 1.50 WHIP and 5.5 BB/9 every year regardless if he's in MLB or the minors. I don't know why anyone would expect him to be different this season.

Perhaps this is where the "pitch to contact" mantra originated. We could save a lot of money if we just did not employ a single catcher!
  10. notoriousgod71
I don't see where the Twins have any of those things, although they are aggressive "swinging".
  11. notoriousgod71
    Young would be ideal.
  12. notoriousgod71
Yes, I prefer someone that could get on base occasionally... or at the very least an extra base hit.

To recap: Ryan has traded 3 starting CF for one horrible season out of Worley, no major league success of of Meyer, one decent and hopeful season out of May, and a mediocre catcher.

I'm not even sure I'd give him that much praise.
  15. notoriousgod71
That's why the Twins want to resign Robinson!

The thing I will never understand about Ryan is his insistence on completely negating one positive move with a negative one. I am no Hicks fan but I am even less a fan of Murphy. God only knows if he plans on making him the starter or backup. Either way I don't think this is the catching acquisition anyone was hoping for.

Terry must have been impressed with his HR off Perkins.
  18. notoriousgod71
The fact that Ryan got anything for Hermann is impressive.

Familiarity definitely breeds contempt (from me).

This announcing crew is driving me to a simmering rage. Each one is dumber than the last, particularly the needlessly pompous Verducci. Congrats Fox, I miss McCarver!

I wish people went to games to watch them and not make an event out of it.

My favorite quote was David Wright after the Mets eliminated the Cubs. "This city deserves this." I can't think of a city that deserves success any less than New York.
  23. notoriousgod71
They already employ Joe Buck and Pete Rose. What more damage can Rodriguez do?

“It was terrible. It was terrible. It changed the whole game,” Revere said while shaking his head back and forth. “It [would have put] me in a 3-1 count and now he has to throw me a strike. Then, [Nelson] says 2-2, and that puts me in a hole and now I’m battling. “It was a terrible call. I know these guys are battling, but in that situation, that’s just, you can’t call that. It puts me in a bad situation. It changes the whole game.”

He would likely have come out the same season as Rodgers so we could really have a reason to hate him.
