  1. Your argument is wrong and ridiculous (and somewhat incoherent).
  2. I would be very happy if they threw out the few numbers that don't give you usable information, namely RBI, W/L, Saves, and Holds. For hitters, a simple slash line with HR and possibly steals/attempts would be of interest. For pitchers, GS, ERA, IP, WHIP, something giving strikeouts and walks (ideally PA/K & PA/BB). Things like WAR & xFIP, these are opinions, and I don't see any reason to present opinion as fact on the broadcast.
  3. I don't believe they are highly trained or particularly competent. I am not a guy who cares much about the draft, especially with the new format, because I don't know much about the prospects, but I do not see any evidence that major league front offices are built through anything but "the way things have always been done," gut feelings and nepotism.
  4. That would take people actually knowing who any of these players are and for 99.9% of them to not take 3+ years to play for the major league team.
  5. Beat it, Narc.
  6. These are the last jerseys the North Stars wore.
  7. The last couple of drafts generally look better than those before, the more recent draftees haven't had enough rope to hang themselves yet. It also helps that the Twins had the second overall pick last year.
  8. I don't see a way in which those resemble the retro north stars jerseys other than the fact that both are green.
  9. Duensing doesn't get the lefty, so Gardy just leaves him out there. Odds that Braun comes up this inning with Burton sitting in the bullpen?
  10. Good thing they avoided that double play, might not have gotten any more runs.
  11. Doumit involved in another misplayed ball in right.
  12. If anyone ever tells you that baseball people know what they are doing, Yuniesky Betancourt getting real time at first is irrefutable evidence to the contrary.
  13. So, let me get this straight...a major league team starts Yuniesky Betancourt at first base?
  14. ...if you're Ichiro.
  15. There is no Twins Way, other than never firing anyone (unless they are black). There was Tom Kelly's way, and that left with him.
  16. I have no problem with getting rid of Anderson, but it sure shouldn't be because the staff has "gotten worse." These are bad pitchers pitching like they should, just like last season.
  17. As an aside, high RBI totals come from home runs, not clutch hits.
  18. So, to find out if a batter can get hits with RISP, you decide to rely on a number other than, say...the percentage of the time they get hits with RISP? It's an interesting way to do it, I grant you, but I'm not sure it is the right way to go about it.
  19. Is it a stat?
  20. It's a football stadium. The presentation was 100% political.
  21. Buying up what no one else wants is not exploiting an inefficiency. Certainly there is value in having pitchers that don't give up walks, but only if that tendency is paired with an average or below hit rate. If you could get a WHIP of about 1.20 by adding a H/9 of 10 to a BB/9 of 2, you'd probably be decent. That doesn't seem to be happening. H/9, not that surprisingly, is going up with the drop in BB/9.
  22. I don't know why people have such a hard time grasping this, but the Twins' first baseman of the future already plays for the Twins. In fact, he's already logged 400+ innings at the position. He's also signed through 2018.
  23. This is 100% false. Verlander throws more pitches per batter now than he did when he came in the league. In fact, his career high in pitches per plate appearance came in his best season. He was 12th in the AL in most pitches per plate appearance last season. He leads the league in innings because he is allowed to throw a lot of pitches, doesn't get hurt, doesn't walk a ton of guys, and no one can get a hit off of him.
