I would agree with that option as well. Maybe Gallo is held back for positional flexibility but it would have been a better move for that inning. Either way, the lefty doesn't hit. Rocco got the matchup he was looking for. If Velazquez gets a hit he's a genius. My initial post was in response to deifying Bochy. Unfortunately we can't let reading get in the way of some good negativity.

My response was directed at Bochy's actions but math and reading aren't part of game threads. The proper mover for Rocco was to do nothing once the 3 batter minimum was passed. Of course, then he would have to sit on his hands in the 9th. Julien was almost sure to never get an at bat today after the 8th inning. He did get his R on L matchup, the move was also completely justifiable.

Thank you. For added perspective losing a game Scherzer starts isn't the worst thing that ever happened. If a reliever has a horrible inning this is what happens. While I've always been on the side of Jax having something else going on no matter when the secondary stats say, he is a mainstay in the pen. They have to figure it out. The postseason pen looks very different from what we see today. Meanwhile, they had a very good game save one pitcher against a stud pitcher and playoff team. The Rangers were not going to lose forever. Still a chance to get 3 of 4. I'm not even mad at a split.
