  1. Here is the thing (and part of the problem) : Their product has not turned into an utter disaster. I bet the Twins made record $ in 2015. Regardless of the quality of the product (which is an utter disaster.) The problem is that people are willing to and pay for this. McDonald's makes a profit, so does Walmart. If people are willing to pay for the stuff they sell, they will continue to make $. And as long as there are Twins' apologists around who are happy with mediocrity, and are vocal about it, people will pay to watch it. McDonalds and Walmart are not going out of business any time soon...
  2. Career numbers: Gibson: 4.09 FIP, 1.371 WHIP Blackburn: 4.81 FIP, 1.472 WHIP Ervin Santana: 4.25 FIP, 1.288 WHIP Brad Radke: 4.24 FIP, 1.260 WHIP Cark Pavano: 4.15 FIP, 1.340 WHIP Al Leiter: 4.10 FIP, 1.386 WHIP To me he looks like he belongs to the second group. I'd take Pavano's or Leiter's career (esp their Miami years) for Gibson. Gibson is a good 3-4 in a winning team
  3. Including Park and May?
  4. Plouffe has 115 OPS+. You give him C-, that's too low; unless the league average (100) is a D He should be at least a B. Exactly same OPS+ as Arcia and you have Arcia as A-. Gotta be consistent There is no way that Berrios, his 5.96 FIP and 1.744 WHIP is a B and Nolasco and his 3.41 FIP and 1.148 WHIP is a B-. Berrios is more on the C- neighbourhood right now. Nolasco's numbers are better than Duffey's (A-). Got to rank Nolasco at least equal to Duffey. C- is too generous for both the manager and the GM. Based on your player grades, F is too good for them, especially if the team gets an overall F. That should be the same grade for both of them, because they should be responsible for it.
  5. FWIW, even with Rosario at LF last night, that ball would have the same fate. Arcia provided some comic relief. Jepsen's meatballs are the biggest issue here. Also. Arcia is way better at RF and he should play there.
  6. Outside the box and outside the organization: Hire a proven winner who is respected by everyone in the game and wants to run a team as the President of baseball operations and give him carte blanche to do anything he wants with the people here. Three words: Cal Ripken Junior
  7. Wait for Andrew Albers. He is next.
  8. Paper bag night. Eyeholes already punched. Pick your team Twins or Braves
  9. Double entendres galore above
  10. Sure. As the equipment manager.
  11. Nah. These too are part of the problem: Mike Radcliff Bill Smith Wayne Krivsky Deron Johnson Ron Gardenhire
  12. You have to bring someone who can really go though each one of them and figure out who is worthwhile to keep. And they better do it soon, so he sees them in action. Some people might be good, but they are in the wrong role. Some people might have great ideas but have been stifled by the higher ups. One needs to figure that stuff out, but anyone who has been in the organization in a senior position has to go...
  13. Yeah. Buy one get 3 free...
  14. Goin and Stiel are part of the problem. Briefly, if they were doing their jobs better: a. the Twins would not re-sign or extend players after seasons that even a teenager that looks at their career records can tell they are outliers b. the team with consistent top 10 in the prospect rankings, would have developed better players Plus: c. they are part of the 99+96+96+92+79+??? problem d. (related) they are tainted by the Twins' losing is ok and no accountability culture.
  15. That's a long line of succession, but as shallow as the Twins' gene pool. Too much inbreeding, something any institution or organization (including baseball teams) are way better without.
  16. The Twins will keep Jepsen as the closer if not for anything else, just because the equally inept Perkins will seem like an improvement when he gets his job back...
  17. Bet Puckett had a higher BMI than Sano when he played RF for the Twins. For the record, Kelly did not quit.
  18. Jay and Stewart might have higher upside than Berrios. Gonsalves is pretty close. Also, unless they prove busts, I would have a hard time trading Jay or Gonsalves. LHSP is almost as rare commodity as Catchers these days.
  19. Hey, most of us morons have led a team to at least(*) as many World Series as this GM the last 20some years. (*) never know who is jabbering here.
  20. I'd add Polanco to the list, but totally agree with this. Funny enough, their best MiLB hitter is a guy they just got from Arizona (Daniel Palka.) The problem with the Twins' MiLB operations, is the same with the FO operations, is the same with the Field Management Operations: They hire from within. This is an inbred organization with no new fresh outside voices. Case in point the Twins' latest hire. Seems that all but Pohlad know that inbreeding leeds to extinction, at that might be just around the corner.
  21. Devil's advocate right now: Swihart's and JR Murphy's AAA and MLB numbers are pretty darn close. On paper, I would not mind giving up Berrios for a young every day catcher with All-Star potential (because 150 games worth more than 35, and catchers are such a rare commodity) but not sure that Swihart is that.
