  1. I might rank Plouffe above Moustakas and Parmelee 3rd above both Stubbs and Francoer. Other than those 2 I think you're right on. With those two, that would put the Twins 2nd in offense in the division, which is what I think they will be.
  2. Yes it can. Introducing.... SPEED!
  3. No, he has been legitimately good. I caught one game last week where he made a play on a ball behind Morneau and flipped the ball with his glove between his legs to get the runner. It was pretty awesome. Regardless, Escobar will get his chances.
  4. I don't think I'd go that far. Gibson and Meyer could at least provide some talent on the starting staff. The Twins didn't even have that to fall back on last season.
  5. I hope Harden can make a come-back. I was for the move all the way. He's had a rough go after such a promising start to his career.
  6. I heard Blackburn looked into the family past and discovered the name "Blackburn" wasn't his original name. His family history included so much black magic that they changed the name to act as a warning. Don't be surprised to see Blackie back in the mix.
  7. False. Deduno has proved over 8 years he is not an MLB pitcher. The Twins have managed him well. Gibson, on the other hand, is starting in AAA and is already cost-controlled through his prime. It isn't even close to parallel situations that you can draw an inconsistency. I guess mediocre is acceptable with this organization. What I was clearly alluding to was the comment about looking at players at the MLB level Yes, those moves will help the team down the road, but that wasn't the discussion was it. Terry Ryan added Worely and Correia to a 90 loss team and slashed payroll by over 10%.
  8. The Twins are not trading Carroll for a starter... (I'm not going to verbally assault you because its against the rules, but you might deserve it for that). How that comment as gone unnoticed so far is beyond me. The only guy that deserves a starting spot out of all these guys is Dozier. Carroll is a legit back-up and has been his entire career. Basically, the MI is most likely going to be bad again.
  9. The Twins are not going to pay Correia 4.5 million to work as a long man in the bullpen. The decision to get him keeps looking worse and worse.
  10. Right on par with other ignorant decisions Terry Ryan has made. I applaud his integrity to his players, but on the other hand believe he is incredibly impetuous if he believes the people in Minnesota will be screaming foul play be saving a year of cheap control. To me it also sends a mixed message. He wasn't willing to get some actual talent for the pitching staff and made a terrible investment, yet he wants to play Hicks right away and not worry about his clock? What is he doing, playing for the future or playing for 2013? All this rhetoric about 2013 makes me feel more and more like 1) he's an idiot 2) he thinks Twins fans are idiots. I'm ok with the drafts lately, but his inability to manage the major league team drive me ****ing crazy. Anybody who think this team will be competitive after the bull**** offseason they had is kidding themselves. How does Terry Ryan keep a straight face when saying this after signing Correia, completely ignoring the MI, and not even attempt to upgrade a single position through FA? If he had signed one of the starting pitchers with some talent then go ahead, play right away Hicks because you might be competitive down the stretch. That would say "we want to win." Instead, its all propaganda. The Twins take the stance that fans shouldn't question the moves they make. That is how I feel.
  11. Danny, Santa, Santanasie, Santie, Santsie... those are what I got right now. The jump to AA is a pretty big jump. If he handles it well he could see the Twins as a September call-up, maybe sooner with injuries or ineptitude by the current MI. Also, I wouldn't be surprised by a slight bump in HR as the FSL is tougher on HR's than the Eastern League. I'm pretty hopeful about him. Don't expect an All-Star. If he can hit at or above league average for SS and be a good fielder the Twins will have their best SS in decades. *consistent SS (Hardy, Bartlett, Guzman all had decent years, I'm talking longevity)
  12. Awesome that Target Field is still the Grand Canyon and they are still going to ask their bottom of the order guys to make outs. Can't wait for the season!
  13. Gady should have been let go a long time ago. I don't think a few losing season with lackluster talent has anything to do with his managing.
  14. It's hard to say. Bruno is a new hitting coach and the guy that was coaching Plouffe when he had his power surge. I'll keep my reservations about the past hitting coaches in the past and allow Bruno to create his own legacy of cliches. I actually expect some good things, like taking advantage of mistakes by hitting them over the fence. I'm optimistic for Plouffe this season. I think he settles in a little under an 800 OPS. The power will be there, that is almost a guarantee. You don't hit 20 HR's 3 years in a row then drop-off. Like I've said in the past, his obstacle will be working counts into his favor and not chasing sliders.
  15. Why is it difficult to digest that a month in AAA during a losing season will give the Twins an extra year of cost control during a time when they will be competing? Yes he looks like the best option right now. I'll take the trade off. The Twins must fee like their had is forced in some way. I don't agree with it one bit.
  16. Had to be expected by Benson. Last night I liked his approach at the plate so hopefully he can continue to improve and have some success.
  17. I agree. Just knock the ball down and gun the guy down. I'm not saying he is a statue, just can't call that play flashy or even good. I will say... I was extremely impressed with Hicks. He is not what I was expecting to see, since I've been pretty skeptical about him so far. I feel even more strongly that he has to be sent down for an extra year of control. Being shrewd, that is what I would do. A little experience in AAA would be good for him anyway. I see a pretty good player in the making. Poor Benson had a bonehead game. I don't blame him for his error at all. He was on a dead sprint toward the foul line and the fence was only like 10 from it. He took his eyes off the ball to look at it and dropped the ball. Then was confused because i landed fair. How many innings has he even played LF? To me, adjusting to a fence being that close would be difficult. Also, he should have got called for another error but the umps let it go. In his exchange he dropped the ball. I would have called off the catch, but that is me. Nice AB's though.
  18. What? You all saw a nice play from Sano? I thought it was a terrible piece of footwork. He had no business back-handing that ball and will burned more times than not. He has to get in front of balls better than that to be successful. It doesn't matter if he gloves them all, getting in front of the ball and being able to make a play is the biggest challenge at 3b.
  19. I should have specified circa pre-2011 lol. I might have been unintentionally over zealous in that post... happens.
  20. Would make sense considering the Twins idiocy in drafting pitchers and their current incompetence in the organization at the position. Brilliant. Not saying I blame them since GB pitchers were the go-to to combat juicing.
  21. There is a little tree icon to the right of your smiley face above where you type. Click on that and it does it for you. You could use code too, I'm guessing since you're asking that you aren't familiar with it so the first way is easier.
  22. It really wasn't. He's had an issue with that thumb in the minors as well. Hopefully, the training staff can get this one right and it doesn't impact him going forward.
  23. Why would they be interested in spending money on garbage players when they wouldn't spend money on average players?

    I'm an Elitist

bluesky, a long running joke on the old message board quite a few frequent poster came from was that of elitism. There comes a point in following/watching baseball where you achieve a deeper understanding. Like Seth pointed out, if you wanted you can over-analyze every decision in this game. I love that part of the game and also wish I had my innocence back again.
