  1. I believe the thought process went into drafting pitchers that have good velocity and can miss bats. Twins believe they could convert some of them and the others might be able to rise through the system quickly in relief. There was more focus put on power arms. Rob Anthony alluded to it in his interview that is on the Twins page. Needless to say, this was a huge shift from taking control pitch to contact guys for the last 10+ years (I've only been watching drafts for 10 years).
  2. End the Arcia Era! The guy can't hit. Really. He's 21, **** him. he didn'ts get a hit day, didn't get a ghit yesterday,d why are they playing a 32 year old guy that can't hit> Bring him up, and he doesn't get a hit?????????? he's like. supposed to be Thoseme and he doesn't get a hit. fire gardy. It's Gardys fault nobody can hit. Fire Plouffe. fire Joe Mayes. Fire//, no, Denny Hocking needs to start. Why isn't Nick Putno playing?> He's the fire and ice of the offecnse. I wish we had Radke still, he really battled his tail off out there. I didn't speel check or change anything because you know what, **** you grammar natzies. I hate everybody.
  3. I thought I heard they had interviewed at least one of these guys in the past and found nothing. Our intel isn't going to be able to prevent anything bad from happening. Personally, I doubt these two were completely acting alone and I hope this kid talks and we can bring accountability to those that aided them. I wish water boarding was still legal for interrogating terrorists...
  4. I don't understand the hate here. Plouffe botched a few plays, but he's also made some truly great ones. he didn't have an error through 10 games and botched a few when it was terrible weather. Let him get a few more attempts and his defensive metrics will return to normal. He is an average glove. He has 218 games at 3b in his professional career. I do think he has the skills to keep improving. Nobody is saying he will be as steady as Koskie, but league average shouldn't be that difficult. In 2012 his fielding % was .935, league average was .952. So, 1.7% difference. I have a hard time believing that after adjusting to a new position and being able to spend his time working there wont produce better results, even if they are marginal (which is all they need to be). His range factors are pretty close to league average too. So saying he is terrible, is just wrong. I get it. Plouffe is rarely flashy or smooth. He hasn't come through in some high leverage situations. I find it funny that someone can bash him when he is currently in the top 10 in the league for OPS, is coming off a 20+ HR season, is still only 26 and is getting comfortable at a new position. Even if he never gets better on D and is simply below average, his bat more than makes up for it. I'd rather have a good bat with below average defense than mediocre bat and mediocre glove.
  5. A league average defensive 3b that has an OPS of about 800 so far. Terrible.
  6. Good for JO. Too bad that team never plays baseball games.
  7. LOL, this thread is awesome. I just read through it and love it.
  8. Hicks needs to get regular time until May IMO. Moving him now is not giving him enough of a chance to adjust. Bring him North out of ST looks like a mistake at this point, but giving up on him too early would only compound the move. If he doesn't start making progress by the end of the 2 weeks he needs to go to AAA and work on things.
  9. Arcia will not struggle like Hicks. Completely different players, with Arcia's bat being much much better. He might not hit .300 this season as a rookie, but I don't think .280 would be out of reach. I'm very bullish on Arcia and had him as my #1 prospect to start the year.
  10. I did Felix Jorge last season, so I'll do him again.
  11. Ramon Ortiz had a 2.57 ERA through April..... then the wheels fell off. Unfortunately he posted a 10.48 ERA in May. It was a fun ride Ramon...
  12. Living paycheck to paycheck is tough. Guessing he just couldn't afford to miss any more time.
  13. If I was the Twins I'd let him stay until May. If he hasn't shown any signs of putting it together by then he needs to be demoted. By then he should have 100 AB's, and we should have a better idea. For now, it could just be a bad slump while adjusting to MLB pitching. I don't like making knee jerk reactions (like starting him with the MLB club in the first place), so patience is important.
  14. Not really. The Twins could actually use the DH spot in the line-up like a real team and move Willingham there. Then you'd be limiting Doumit's AB's most likely. If they were serious about contending I'm guessing they might think about it, but since the pitching staff is horrible it doesn't make much sense. In 2014, however, things might be a little different.
  15. I was going to create a "send Arcia to AAA" thread too lol! Glad he got the opportunity to come up.
  16. I'm not really saying that. More, that elite hitters are more likely to come from the 1st round or INTL FA now. The data pre-2001 shows there was more talent picked-up in later rounds than there is now. It also didn't have a single INTL FA, which was surprising. I agree it does show that while the odds are lower, there are still talented players being drafted in later rounds.... unlike Ace level pitchers.
  17. Don't be sorry. Brock's been called a lot worse than lazy. Actually, he might agree with you (I certainly do). **** you Frenchy!
  18. Last year was his first good year from the left side. At the start of the year, I was driving the Hicks-as-a-full-time-RH-hitter bandwagon. His results showed he is capable of switch hitting, though I still think he might be better RH. Simply 10 games into his MLB career when he skipped a level to get here (and shouldn't have) is too early to give up on him. I (and hopefully many others) still feel he can become a solid regular in time. I don't believe the Twins will leave him up to struggle this badly for too much longer. I wish Benson was hitting in AAA so they could have a fall-back guy. Curious to see if Arcia gets a start in CF...
  19. Blocked? By a guy that has strike outs in 50% of his PA? If the Twins will try it, I'd be all for it. Shoot, with way Buxton is hitting he might be the opening day CF in 2014 lol.
  20. Angel Morales hitting? He hasn't hit for years, maybe trying to resurrect his career.
  21. Very excited to see Arcia! Hopefully he can keep his composure and put some pressure on the Twins to keep him up. I've only seen clips of him hitting, and can't wait to actually see the whole package.
  22. Hate this move. From an outsider, I can't understand why the Twins aren't putting everything they have in Hendriks to make him succeed. Maybe he has something specific they want him to work on? If that is true, why the **** did Gardy spew bull**** about consistency? He's had 2 starts! Last season he didn't get an extended look until the end of the year. Complete idiots.
  23. Amount of runs the mets score over/under: 23
  24. **** this **** show. I'm going to watch river monsters or something.
