  1. So why didn't they just move the rest of the week's games 40 miles down I-95 to Nationals Park, so that way at least a good number of O's fans can still make the trip? Did the Nats refuse to open the stadium or something?
  2. Did we forget the Expos existed?
  3. I agree, but at the same time, I have little sympathy for a closeted gay politician who spends his life persecuting gay people in order to give the impression that he isn't gay to his constituents. Regardless of the motives, his actions are deplorable. And as recent history has taught us, he's not the first secretly gay politician and he certainly won't be the last.
  4. http://www.wday.com/news/north-dakota/3732576-fargo-lawmaker-sent-explicit-photo-claims-disclosure-was-payback-vote-gay A North Dakota lawmaker who sent an explicit photo of himself to another man says the exchange being made public is retaliation for a recent vote against expanding gay rights. Rep. Randy Boehning, a 52-year-old Republican legislator from Fargo, says a Capitol employee told him a fellow lawmaker vowed to out him as gay if he continued to vote against bills granting gays legal protections against discrimination. Boehning refused to identify at this point who he believes is behind the purported political payback for his vote against Senate Bill 2279, the third such bill defeated in the past six years by North Dakota legislators. The exchange came to light when Dustin Smith, a 21-year-old Bismarck man with no known connections to the Capitol, contacted The Forum earlier this month, saying he recognized Boehning from a gay dating smartphone app called Grindr. Chatting under the user name Top Man!, Boehning sent Smith sexually suggestive messages and, in the early morning hours of March 12, an unsolicited photo of his penis, according to exchanges reviewed by The Forum. "How can you discriminate against the person you're trying to pick up?" Smith said in a recent interview. When first questioned about the messages two weeks ago, Boehning declined to comment on whether he sent the explicit photo and messages. But on Saturday he confirmed he was Top Man! and said he doesn't think sending a graphic photo of himself to a stranger is a lapse in judgment, as Grindr is an adult site where users often exchange such images.
  5. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/scott-walker-ive-attended-gay-wedding-reception-but-not-ceremony/ The great investigation into which current and potential Republican candidates for president have or would attend the same-sex wedding of a loved one continued this weekend when a reporter asked Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) the question that has somehow come to dominate this conversation this week. “That’s certainly a personal issue,” Walker said during a press conference in New Hampshire Saturday night. He went on to explain that he has attended a wedding reception for a same-sex couple, but not the actual ceremony. “I haven’t been to a wedding. That’s true even though my position on marriage is still that’s defined between a man and a woman, and I support the Constitution of the state. But for someone I love, we’ve been at a reception.” The New York Times’ Patrick Healy reported that Walker was “away on business when the wedding occurred, but he later attended a reception for the newlyweds.” The couple in question Shelli Marquardt — a cousin of Walker’s wife — and her partner, Cathy Priem. Alex Walker, the governor’s younger son, signed his name to the marriage certificate as a witness. It was that same son, who, along with his older brother Matt, have lobbied Walker to change his stance against gay marriage. Walker told BuzzFeed in 2013 that his sons had a “solid argument,” adding “I personally may not embrace that yet. But that, to me, is a bigger question… I get their concerns.” As of Monday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) have both said they would attend same-sex weddings while Rick Santorum said he “would not” and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) did his best to avoid the question altogether.
  6. 17,449 was the attendance yesterday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was the smallest crowd in Target Field history.
  7. WhiteSoxInteractive is gonna be a fun place this evening.
  8. No wonder why it took so long for us to score. http://i.imgur.com/SRJ0Vd8.png
  9. Here was my first game. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN199308310.shtml The infamous 22 inning game on 8/31/93 (Look who was playing 3B for Cleveland). I was 10 years old. I grew up in South Dakota, and this was my first time ever being inside a major city. When we were close enough to see the Minneapolis skyline, I remember being in complete shock and awe of what I was seeing, as I've never seen anything like it before with my own eyes. Anyways, the game. I got Willie Banks' (our starting pitcher that evening) autograph, and my heart almost dropped out of my chest the moment I saw Kirby Puckett leave the dugout. I was only about 10 feet away from him. Dave Winfield was about a dozen hits away from 3,000, and he was 0 for 8, and when he came up for his 9th plate appearance he was roundly booed. He responded by hitting a double off the baggy, but didn't score. By the time Pedro Munoz hit the walkoff homer, it was 1:27 AM. My parents took me and my three brothers out for Perkins right afterward. (the concession stands were closed four hours ago and my parents had four hungry boys to feed). And then...we did it all again 16 hours later!
  10. Puppies! Soft cuddly puppies!
  11. At this rate, the Twins game will end around the time the Wild start up.
  12. Today, I will try not to be so negative. So I will start thinking about puppies. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t46/nykE_photo/wp_Janubaba_pupies_20053613243OZJNM.jpg http://www.funnypuppysite.com/pictures/Cute_Puppies_In_Tophats.jpg http://www.love-my-dog.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/pictures-of-puppies.jpg I feel better already.

  15. Ricky Nolasco still sucks This has been your Ricky Nolasco update.
  16. Forecast: Who cares. It's Detroit. Like it matters.
  17. Maybe Rand Paul isn't like this, but from what I've seen, Libertarians are what Republicans call themselves when they don't want to be labeled Republican while still voting down the party line.
  18. Ted Cruz is an incredibly intelligent man who knows exactly what his constituents want. He doesn't actually believe a damn thing that comes out of his mouth. He's speaking for his idiot voters.
  19. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/12585818/players-no-51-100 And there was one glaring omission. Not a single Twins player made the top 100. In fact, the Twins are the only team to not have a top 100 player. I'm not outraged by any means, it was just rather surprising.
  20. The problem for Aiken is timing. TSJ has a 12 month recovery at minimum. He will go more than a year without pitching and MLB teams will not be able to gauge how his arm is doing at the time of this draft or the next. Yeah, TSJ has nowhere near the stigma it used to, but there's still no guarantee that the player will fully recover from it, and teams aren't going to take that lightly.
  21. First overall pick to TJS and god knows when or where he will be picked again. Tough luck.
  22. http://mweb.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24807164/stanton-and-marlins-close-on-record-deal-word-is-325m-13-years?v=1&vc=2 Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins are closing in on a landmark deal, believed to be for $325 million over 13 years, sources connected to the team told CBSSports.com. Stanton's record deal will have a no-trade clause and is expected to include an opt-out clause as well, allowing him to exercise a right to leave after a number of years. Only language remains to be finalized, sources said.
  23. Jon Heyman saying that LA is not an option for Maddon. Make it happen, Terry!
  24. I for one would like to congratulate Josh Willingham on making it to the World Series. He waited 11 years to get his first taste of the postseason and I hope it all ends with him getting a ring.
