  1. Again, as I said up thread, the argument for Clinton was that she was the better general election candidate and wasn't nominated because of merit; I worry the same thing could happen with Biden but for different reasons. That said, I'll support Biden should he be the nominee. And I think nearly any of the candidates can defeat Trump, largely because of what happened in 2018. I'll be voting for my beliefs and not on my cynicism, because I think both ideas and authenticity is what will win the election, not the luke-warm safe choice.

  3. All people in positions of authority need to be held accountable, and scrutinized more because they hold authority. Whether that be a cop or the President. If you want to give a cop a free pass, you are not for upholding the law, much less its equal application.
  4. I wasn't suggesting that; but the argument for Clinton was made with the outcome in mind (better general election candidate) than the merit of her candidacy. I think that kind of cynicism loses elections.
  5. I still think the socialists, Bernie in particular, do a better job of speaking to working class people in the rust belt than Joe Biden. As said above, Biden is part of the Democratic elitism that lost those people. Democrats need to speak to those people, and turn them out, and I think you do so with policy arguments that make their lives better, not whatever Joe Biden will be running on (and to be fair we should see where he stands on taxes, health care etc, but I imagine he's pretty much more of where the Democrats were prior to Bernie).
  6. You can be both pro-police and believe felons should have civil rights. They are not mutually exclusive.
  7. You're right. Trump will totally not call Biden (or any other candidate) anything like that.
  8. Ah, the same argument people made in supporting Clinton. Turn out will matter, and young people will not turn out for Biden. Socialist policies are widely popular (even among conservatives), despite what baby boomers continue to believe.
  9. I hate this administration.
  10. Biden enters the race. Yawn.
  11. Just two days ago we were spammed by a new poster; I doubt any offense was meant. Please feel free to contribute. Not everyone who posts is necessarily anti-Trump, though, you're right many of us are.
  12. I just wanna say I love the fact there's a contentious and viable thread in the Sport Bar that's not politically related. It took robots and cars, okay, but it's something.
  13. EDDIE SAVE SOME HOMERS FOR THE REST OF THE TEAM! JEEZE!
  14. I see. That speed to leg out infield singles.
  15. Is the idea of leading off with Garver to give him more at bats since he's not playing every day? I mean why is he a better choice than Rosario or Cruz? I though it was just a novelty/experiment, but this is getting pretty regular.
  16. Don't feed the troll.
  17. I can dig it. The timing won't matter, because the false attack on Winterfell saves any chance for the rest them to help out on King's Landing even if it is weeks later.
  18. In my proceeding post, I was remiss to mention that it's important to get people on record that they don't think obstruction of justice is an impeachable offense. I think getting too calculated about the election can easily lose it as well. Criticism of Trump could easily turn into: well, why didn't you impeach!
  19. I think I said this up thread, but I believe they all end up dead, but Dany dies in child birth to the prince that was promised...
  20. As Mike suggest, I think Arya is in play, but her ability to change faces makes her a great candidate to kill Cersi down the road. (I wonder if we might believe her dead to see her reemerge as another character who had been dead and she's taken his/her place). As for Jamie, I think he's been down trodden since he lost his hand and narratively it would make sense for greater things for Jamie.
  21. You guys lack bloodthurst.
  22. I'm watching Buttigieg townhall, and he basically endorsed Warren's plan, save that he is not comfortable with giving family's making 250K any kind of a break on student loans. I was a bit surprised, given his former comments that it would be unfair to forgive such debt. He also made the point, and I read this earlier today, that a big part of the tuition increase is that states have basically stopped subsidizing higher education; and who can blame them with the endless cash cow that is the federal loan system. Obviously I don't have the data in front of me, but this sounds right, for many years states funded universities as a investment in their citizens. That changed because baby boomers wanted cheaper taxes and could outsource that to making young people more responsible for more debt.
