  1. I think there are already too many sinkers. Maybe get a couple of nasty sliders or curves on the rotation...
  2. I'm pleased with them, the Roenicke decision is meh to me.
  3. My understanding is that this meant contracts of 5 years or longer.
  4. Very Nice Trade, Hoping the PTBNL is a SP!
  5. And doing this wouldn't give you a certain reputation as a GM? This would make me far more mad then hearing a high price for a player, even if I thought it was absurd, if I was another teams GM. Sometimes teams will pay a ridiculously high price, but this move is just against the essence of waivers (AA style)
  6. If this was Willingham next season, then yes this would be an appropriate asking price. But there is an extra year of control too, and that has to be worth something. Perhaps not a jump from their #10 to their #3 but certainly an increase in price. I just don't think the O's were willing to part with anything of real value (I don't even know if Avery would place top 20 in the Twins system, he seems to have fallen apart, I mean he hasn't posted a full season OPS over .700 since 2010.) But the Twins shouldn't deal away a player with an extra year of control just to deal him (Morneau on the other hand...)
  7. I think that the Twins asked an appropriate cost for this trade. I also wouldn't have taken it if I were the Orioles. Just because two teams talk, doesn't mean a trade has to happen. If the Twins were supposed to eat Hammer's salary, they easily should have gotten a better player then Avery since 1. Hammer is better then Morse. 2. Hammer has another contract. 3. 7 mil plus the remainder of this year is more then what the Phillies just signed Gonzalez to a contract for. But the O's didn't want to mortgage the future for the present (wisely), so they would not pay up.
  8. I'm still amazed at what the Twins got for Butera...
  9. Yea that one kinda peeved me off because he clearly had no idea how Dozier's been doing as of late.
  10. Do you mean Noah Syndergaard? Also no, you don't trade away pieces that are part of your plans, you trade extra pieces you have to fill holes. By that logic, Buxton, Sano and Meyer are untradeable.
  11. I'm not sure anybody would take Kepler in a Rule 5 yet, he's so far down in the system.
  12. To be fair they are only 26th when it's park adjusted.
  13. C Joe Mauer - 31 1B Chris Parmelee - 26 2B Eddie Rosario - 22 SS Pedro Florimon - 27 3B Miguel Sano - 21 LF Oswaldo Arcia - 23 CF Byron Buxton - 20 RF Aaron Hicks - 24 DH Josmil Pinto - 25 I don't think that we will be seeing any Buxton next year, at least not to begin with. Plus we might very well have the Hammer too.

    Miguel Sano L-R splits

He did the same thing though at Ft. Myers this year. L:301/363/521 R:346/454/729. That's a crazy split and oddly enough in the wrong direction...
  15. I can't imagine it would take much to lock him up for a couple of years and isn't he really much more interesting than somebody like Correia? I really wouldn't mind if the Twins signed him.
  16. Not gonna lie, looked at the map and that star appears to be straight west of Duluth and South of Lake of the Woods, which means the star is exactly where Park Rapids is. Very Well done.
  17. I too thought it was, but alas, it is not.
  18. Round A I would definitely take it, Round B, probably not...
  19. To be fair you are completely missing on International Signings. Collabello was not drafted but signed from an semi-pro league. There are other ways than the draft to acquire new talent that doesn't involve FA's either.
  20. Gonna disagree for two reasons. 1. Pitchers are extremely hard to predict and simply the more you have in your system the better. 2. Having many productive OF's is a good thing, but having many SP's? They are gold. You can trade a solid SP at anytime for a good price, you can't always so that about positional players.
  21. I take this as a positive sign actually, because hopefully in a few years when the Twins are competing and winning they are able to make a key signature or two, and extend players like Sano, Buxton, and Meyer. I have concerns about the Twins ability to hold onto players like this. Players I want to see stay in Minny for a long time with their (hopefully) HOF numbers. It's not just the three players, the Twins are stacked from top to bottom positionally (other than SS) and I'm really hoping that if the Twins develop as everyone is hoping that they can keep this group together which has the potential to be one of the most feared lineups of the last 25 years.
  22. I absolutely love the idea of acquiring Profar as well, but it is frankly not going to happen, although I think that saying Profar for Arcia and Sano/Buxton might be more than it would take. Both sides are unproven. Perhaps something like Arcia and Pinto (possibly Santana or another MI) would be easier to swallow.
  23. Apparently the Pohlads approved a higher budget than the FO decided to utilize according to Phil Mackey.
  24. I agree, no need to sell anybody if there isn't a significant return.
  25. I'm no fan of trading Perkins, but if they offered up Skaggs, that's a deal I would be willing to take.
