  1. He was immediately demoted, the expectation is that the Rockies are just acting as middle men and willing to deal him quickly. Personally I would rather see Deduno, DeVries, Hernandez, and others competing for the 5 slot than give up anything for him. He is not young and has no chance of being a part of this club in 4 to 5 years when it matters so why even bother.
  2. I think that Mauer's K rate is a little high, I mean last year was his highest ever, by quite a bit...Otherwise it looks very reasonable (Here's to hoping the Morneau hits that well!)
  3. @ Top Gun. Even if Joe Benson is a total flop offensively, the guy has a great glove. Hicks will take over CF at some point (hopefully succeed) and Arcia will be in RF by the time we trade either Morneau or Willingham (remember the Beltran trade? I think the Twins could get that for either come deadline if they are hot). Defensively the outfield will look better by the trade deadline. Honestly I want to see Benson starting in CF as a do or die type test. He's become irrelevant quickly but should be given a chance in the six weeks it will take to bring up Hicks (for the extra year of TC).
  4. This is a far superior signing to the Correia signing, but that's not saying much...
  5. The Span trade happened before Lannan was non-tendered, so the Twins could have said "hey give us the cherry on top and send us Lannan, we'll pick up his arb year." The Nats would have lost or given up anything more than they did but the Twins would have automatically had Lannan.
  6. With the extra 25 M coming through soon, I don't think that this is a factor. I'm hoping this just means he wants more to play with this year.
  7. With the Josh Hamilton signing the Angels will likely have to move a position player. Could the Twins acquire Callaspo to play 2B? Should they? His history suggests that he is a below average fielder at 2B but he has a 275/335/384 career line. Otherwise he seems to be a decent fielding 3B. He is signed for this year at 3.15 M.

  9. I didn't like the Dempster contract but I wouldn't mind the Twins doing this, although I think that maybe they could have tried to get him at 6/90 or even 6/85.
  10. And here I am thinking that the Twins should at least get a second piece of some kind in this deal...
  11. No, but mostly because I don't really like Dempster...I'd rather have Marcum or Jackson.
  12. Is there room for Morneau in Texas? They would have to give up either Andrus or Olt just to make room for him as a 1B/DH (I hear that they might move Kinsler to 1B just to make room for Profar at SS). Mind you I wouldn't mind having either...
  13. The D-Backs also gave up two solid relievers for a redux LaPorta and a solid reliever. They got the wrong end.
  14. D-Backs just got robbed. They gave up all that for Gregorius?
  15. I would think the Twins could get a couple of low level prospects as well, or at least one if Morneau and Revere were dealt for Holland. I would love the Twins to pull the trigger on this trade.
  16. Myers at 9-10 mil. per season? I was thinking more like 3/9-10 overall....
  17. Couldn't have said it better myself...
  18. C Mauer 1B Morneau 2B Dozier 3B Plouffe SS Florimon (or FA) LF Willingham CF Revere RF Parmalee DH Doumit
  19. If this is about trading for Andrus, I would hope the Twins tell the Rangers to pack sand. No way Span and Arcia = Andrus.
  20. I would not be mad if they brought him back for 1.5-2M. He wasn't so bad this year before his injury.
  21. I like this move. Shows the Twins are not going to hold onto players just to hold onto them. Clears room for new talent brought in by waivers or via FA.
