    All catching up to Gomez tonight.

    4 singles and batting well over .300 with the singles night. Hitting like that gets Arráez constantly traded and yet to get a him a multi-year contract. Go figure.

    What a waste of to not have Walker in the Show yet. Total waste. I know the pitch. But there is only now.

    I don’t think I have ever seen Buxton get beat to first on a 5-4-3 double play and beat to second to start another one and the same game - until this game. He definitely didn’t book it to first. Yes, it appears to be choosing the rare spots now, like the great full out diving catch this series. If he was hitting and just giving up a triple for a double or a double for a single, it would be enough. But when he isn’t really even having good at bats, he is starting to hurt the team. Really a sad finish to a remarkable first 3 1/2 months. I feel for him. He must feel it, too. 46.5 million (Lopez/Buxton/Correa) of the $109 team salary is a huge percentage to not be able to contribute.

    Wink wink. It doesn’t take much to “verify” an injury. Or extend a 15 day stay. Dead arm is an example. Verification of that is a pitcher just not “feeling right”, regardless of an MRI or other checks. Or a player saying my hip is still “not right”. Teams do it all the time. Especially those with talented depth. Dodgers are particularly deft at it. They do a lot of winking.

    My bet is Toronto. Even with their selling some at the deadline. The WINNER of the AL West could even be the team with a losing record, There could be 2 AL teams with a losing record. Chicago and the Central is no sure bet to finish without a losing record, either. And MLB even wants more than 12 teams to qualify in the future.

    I hope at least one of the pretenders get hot before the seasons ends. No team with a losing record deserves a birth in the MLB playoffs.

    Even a 5-1 lead in the 7th seems to put them on that edge.

    Regardless of pitching,, 3 hits Friday and 4 today….. even with great pitching we’re probably beaten. Funderburk, even with his streaks of good fortune, is always a risk to count on. It always surprises me me when he does well, as an opposed to surprising me when he doesn’t.

    His walk rate was what Toronto was not happy with. It has continued on the twins.

    7-10 since the trade deadline acquisitions. I guess we are better? The little mistakes are crushing. I don’t know how the error was scored against Lee (originally against Culpepper). Sure looked like a Culpepper throwing error to me, not that it matters in the end, I guessMaybe they can right the ship at get the last win in San Diego and sweep the A’s to get back in it.

    I wish Shelton would start treating these games as a playoff game. They virtually are. Every game now. Pitchers need to be ready. After the last game Prielipp pitched, it would be seem to be evident he can fall apart quickly. Walks should be screaming at him.
