  1. You are not counting the luxury tax being paid that is just under $144. So about $500 million, not 350. CBT total estimated to be $393. The Dodgers pay more luxury tax than the Twins total Team salary.
  2. And a pitcher that is ready to catch a ball after delivery! Epic.
  3. Wow. And they escape even with Kershaw’s perfectly placed slider that didn’t break called a ball. This is baseball!
  4. They do have the starter moved to the pen for the postseason, Sasaki. I doubt Roberts will go to him until late. Check out the Sept 6 game against the Orioles when Yamamoto took a no hitter into the 9th. Yes, all year the pen has let them down so often. Like game 1 in WS.
  5. But the Dodgers pen is their Achilles heal this year. A real weakness.
  6. And another case of just stopping, and not forcing a rundown. Never ceases to amaze me. Chances are very low to be successful, but it can happen. It never happens if you just quit. And another example of how a bad call severely affects the game. Toronto should have 1 run.
  7. What strike? Ha. Dodgers get yet another gift from the plate umpire. (No double play, just a pick off. One out.) But the umpire did call a strike right away. We all heard it. But they misinterpreted his delayed arm motion as take first base. Should have been ball 4 anyway if there was any justice.
  8. The game will be the biggest beneficiary when this wimpy challenge system is soon replaced by every pitch being unbiasedly called by ABS, and catchers attend to their real job instead of this ridiculous pitch framing jerking the glove BS.
  9. Sure. And get NIck Punto out of retirement, too.
  10. I saw so many hits go through because of where they positioned themselves, even with Correa. Over shifting. The hits were going where a fielder perhaps should have been, and were outsmarting themselves with the excessive shift.
  11. "Even former Twin Jeff Hoffman closed out Game 7 in dominant fashion, to add salt to the wound. " Does his brief "try-out" in spring training of 2023, when he exercised his opt-out when he didn't make the roster count? I mean, it was a minor league contract, even. Former Twin? Not even really a former Saint. Lots of things added salt to the wounds of the last two years, but Hoffman isn't one of them for me. Varland, yes . Hoffman pitched all of 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 3 walks and 8 Ks, and the FO went with the always cheerful Jorge Lopez and Emilio Pagan, and we probably all remember how well that turned out. Prizes from proud trades. Had to keep them. Coulombe, Megill, Stewart, Varland and Winder all didn't make the roster on opening day, either.
  12. Falvey is looking for another yes man that will do the job for cheap and just be thankful for the opportunity. I am not impressed with his direction. But I don't matter, and I admit to being a cynic when it comes to Falvey. Maybe this guy will be great, and maybe he learned how to smack trash cans from the ring leader, Cora? Falvey seems to like that talent. 😇
  13. Jim Kaat - 16. Or Greg Maddux - 18. Bert never won a GG. He just thought he was a great fielder, and would always tell you.
  14. Probably couldn’t hear it in this situation. Players in MLB have no excuse. They have been playing for at least 10 years on the way to the show. It really is on the players, I think.
  15. Had him at first still…. if he could throw it there. A goat instead of a hero. Too bad. Why can’t pitchers field their position anymore?
  16. Kinda Yankee loving ii a degrees of Kevin Bacon way….. 😇
  17. Umpires…….. Schwarber is pissed! Wasn’t even kinda close.
  18. Exactly. But it doesn’t mean that one should acknowledge walking in a run by any pitcher as acceptable or even an excuse. But shrugging the tough spot is OK if it works for someone. Heroes step up, especially in the playoffs. A blown save was this result, and it was only on Duran and not batter heroics, unless not swinging is considered heroic, which it may be.
  19. REAL baseball in extras!
