  1. ..... and Derek Shelton. It may be the the 2 that supported the manager, made the manager, and without them in support, it is exposed. I can't believe some of Baldelli's decisions this year. Line ups, pitching, running...... lots to be disappointed with, and not just the performance of the players.
  2. Maeda and Berrios and we got swept. This is real depressing. This Boston team is a team that couldn't beat Baltimore, in fact, got slaughtered by Baltimore, in the first three games of the season. This is depressing. Cold excuses, eh? Both teams are playing on the same field. To watch Maeda throw it away to third, ala Colome, was jaw dropping.
  3. Duffey lets in 3 of 3, and Thielbar lets in 2 of 3 inherited runners. Just what you have a shut down bullpen for. Instead of stopping any bleeding, they drain the patient. Thielbar escapes with a 0.00 ERA intact. I am sure, in the near future, someone will write something about how good he has been and site his ERA.
  4. Batting Average is not meaningful? What? The purpose of a plate appearance is to get a hit. The game is based on throwing the ball, hitting the ball, and feilding the ball. Getting more hits than not is not meaningful? All those players in the HOF...... I wonder if they knew that.
  5. Now here is some creative managing.......... Mets and Phillies game 1 today. "In most cases, the runner on second is supposed to be the player who made the last out in the previous inning. But in this instance, Rojas had purposely subbed reliever Trevor May into that spot for Dominic Smith in a double switch, knowing the rule stipulates that if a pitcher occupies that slot, a team can use the player before that in the lineup instead. Thus, Francisco Lindor -- not May, Smith or a pinch-runner -- began the bottom of the eighth on second base. The move paid immediate dividends when Pete Alonso cracked a game-tying single into left, allowing Lindor to score with ease." But make no mistake. This is not baseball. This rule sucks the spirit of the game right out of it, and it just plain sucks.
  6. I believe it was a throwing error, so it flows right in to how he has been pitching.... although when he pitches, he makes it real easy to hit!
  7. Hey, I have seen crazier things work...... like letting Baddoo play in the Show. The gall of Detroit.
  8. Happ is one of the oldest starters in MLB, and has proved to be exactly what we thought he would be so far in 2021, a solid, average, MLB starter. Well, we are a .500 team. I guess that all fits. I love stats, especially the most important one...... wins. We went after average and comeback and a tossed off closer on the cheap that the Sox and the rest of the league passed on, and this is were we are, early. But hey... nothing a bunch of hits by the offense won't cure (although the offense has already gave them a 6 run lead with 11 outs to go, and that wasn't enough). The #MNTwins have tied or led in the 8th inning of every game this season and are 5-5. That is just devasting.
  9. And then there is the hidden facts that don't get into the stats. Game one... 4 runs scored as unearned, 3 because of Colome's own error, and the other unearned runs that lost the games in extra innings but were devasting.... I remember those facts, too, and whether or not they get factored into the bullpen stats, they happened and counted, eh?
  10. It's all that great depth that made Rosario surplus and not needed. And I believe many were calling for Cruz to not be signed so some of that depth, or Sano, could fill is just fine......
  11. Just said it was 12-0 on air.....
  12. Ha! I was just going to post a prediction of Dobnak apologists shining on the outing that he will take the loss on by giving up the winning run...... leaving the game with his 9.00 ERA. Thank you.
  13. Devers homer was on a pitch that Alcala put it right where it was called by Garver. Glove didn't have to move.
  14. Twins not giving the home fans their joy!
  15. i guess he stays........ gotta do it with a real rally.
  16. Astudillo easy to get doubled off.....
  17. pinch run for Astudillo. Take the good and make it last. Get him out of there....
  18. yum. crow tastes good. but i still take credit for the challange to be rebuffed.
  19. Baldelli waiting until it is 6-2 to bring in Alcala...... good plan.
  20. Context, my friend. Please. Don't throw out the context.
  21. Calume? Even when getting defended, he gets no respect.
  22. Because if you give the pitching staff 6 runs.... 6 runs.... that isn't enough and the offense is responsible? Oh. Just ignore today.... and opening day? Where the offense gave the bullpen 5 runs and a 3 run lead with just 3 outs to get? And the 3 extra inning debacles.... not once could the pitching staff hold for just one inning?
  23. Losing record at home for the home fans. And just sickening loses. They all count. That's why one should care. Because there is no such thing as it doesn't matter.
  24. Unfortunately, unearned runs count just and much, and have lost 3 of the 4 games, and some were kinda earned.... Colome first game on his own throw and bonehead decision.
