  1. I guess it depends on what you see is more valuable. Joe is a career .408 hitter on the 1st pitch in the at bat. Does that mean he should swing at more or is him being extremely selective pushing up his numbers? There are only 7 players in baseball this season who see more pitches per plate appearance than Joe, who is currently averaging 4.27 pitcher per PA. I find that extremely valuable as starters generally throw 100 pitches max these days. If Joe was striking out more and/or walking less maybe I would let it bother me. Working a count and waiting for your pitch seems to be a diminishing art anymore with the generation of free swingers.
  2. I still see nothing wrong with Joe taking 1st pitch strikes.
  3. I see zero situations around the league where Joe would be one of the most hated players in baseball.
  4. It took Mauer, what, 3 seasons to become a good defensive 1st baseman? Now you want to just throw him at 3rd? A guy being a good athlete doesn't mean they just have a knack for playing positions they have never played before at the major league level. You don't just teach major league veterans foreign skill positions on the fly, it doesn't work like that.
  5. I am not against trading him, but if they do I sure hope they get a pretty nice package in return for him.
  6. That just sounds like a blanket statement. Every player is a different situation whether it be contract wise, positional value, etc.
  7. Well 38 games left. Current record is 49-75. They need to go 14-24 to avoid 100 L's. They are 9-11 since the break. They would have to play at a .370 clip the rest of the way to hit 100 losses. They have played .395 clip as a whole for this season. I would argue it would be tougher to actually get to 100 L's rather than tough to avoid it.
  8. Mollie pinch hiting for Zuke and Dan san? What is this?
  9. They gave Cain a hit? That's laughable, it was a definite error by Polanco.
  10. Really nice AB from EE to eventually draw that walk
  11. I think it's exactly that.
  12. Well then. Goodnight fellas.
  13. Those bros behind the plate waving their arms like birds and praying monk style are pretty entertaining.
  14. Gene Glynn is the most third base-iest looking coach I've ever seen
  15. Who's saying im not still there?
  16. "Morales still a very dangerous veteran run producer." ~puke
  17. I love to watch Centeno catch, just reminds me of Tony Pena so much.
  18. So the left side of your infield has Polonco at SS, who has played 3000 innings at SS with a .933 fielding percentage and Sano at 3B with his 3700 innings of .902 fielding percentage. Not that I don't think they can improve, but that's a lot of unsure defense put on one side of the infield. On paper their bats play, but it's a lot of risk IMO.
  19. You don't draft a 18 year old HS shortstop because you need a shortstop. How many SS's end up at other positions? Best player available in baseball makes complete sense. How many teams KNOW exactly who the best player available is going to be? With guys 5-6 years away from the majors taking a player at a position of current strength doesn't matter one bit.
  20. You just put that post in digital ink.....
  21. I definitely was an IRC user back in my early high school days.
  22. I completely agree with you on time and place. If you insist on getting notifications in the workplace, which is none of my business, at least keep your device on silent. And my bad, I looked back up and it wasn't you who claimed Twitter as "completely useless."
  23. I get zero notifications from Twitter. When I want updates on why a player left the game in the 3rd inning, updates on if my questionable fantasy quarterback is going to start on Sunday morning or just want a 15 minutes break and browse my baseball writers for interesting articles. I guess the option for me of getting up to the minute updates whenever I want is just extremely handy. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing, but I just can't see how services like that are seen in negative light.
  24. Exactly. The people who complain about people on facebook that share every detail of their life........they are YOUR friend. It's easy to delete or simply block their posts. There is a TON of utterly useless crap on Twitter. Any jimbroni can get on there and post whatever they want. You choose what you want to see and utilizing this can make it a very useful tool.
