  1. I think the real question is how much reign he will actually have. I don't think anyone knows how close or not close Ryan and Antony are. They very well could have had the majority of the same views on how to run the team. Antony has been with the Twins for 17 years? I think they probably know what they have in him. I highly doubt ownership is going to let Antony step in and just start wheeling and dealing, especially if the plan is to bring in someone from outside the organization to take the job.
  2. Why would they fire Ryan now if they were going to give Antony the reigns then? Why not wait til the end of the season, make a deal with Ryan and let him go out "on his own terms" and then name Antony the GM? With an in-season firing, it just points a huge arrow and going outside the organization. I would say there is a much bigger chance Antony is let go at the end of the season rather than naming him the GM. Just my thoughts. Edit: spelling
  3. Or it could have been a foregone conclusion made by the ownership group. Ryan isn't getting any younger, results aren't here etc.
  4. Agree with you 100%. Doing it in season more than likely means big changes are coming.
  5. Never thought we would see the day. I really hope they look to go outside the organization, really, really, really do.
  6. Thanks for the clarification, the site I was looking at was wrong. What's a good site to look at for things like options? I used an M's site. An extra option year is really nice thing to have.
  7. Zunino's history of course makes him intriguing. What isn't intriguing is the fact he will be out of options after this year and arbitration eligible and has still never hit in the majors. LIke Dave said he has looked better in AAA this year, really cut down on the K rate and his his batting average and OBP are up which is a great sign. I'm not giving up Kepler for him though.
  8. Speaking of catchers, there was a lot of regret and finger pointing at the Twins for not signing or trying to sign Russell Martin during the last off-season. He has seemingly fell off a cliff this year. That $20M per for the next 3 years is probably not looking overly great to Toronto right now.
  9. Hitting .321 and on pace for 28 2B, 22 HR, and 41 SB. He's having a really nice season.
  10. Dozier has been a streaky hitter for YEARS. His value is no different today than it was the last day of his extra base hit streak. Also you forgot to mention in that same time span he is 2-23 that he has taken 6 walks. 6 game sample sizes are ridiculous Since when did players who display leadership only play on great teams? The Twins overall record is bad therefore Dozier must have terrible leadership qualities?
  11. Especially considering just five days ago he was 6-6 at the plate with just 1 more RBI
  12. Lol. You can't fool a batter much more than that. Great job Gibby
  13. Great inning for Gibby, 3 swinging strike outs? I think he had outings earlier in the year when he barely registered 3 swinging strikes. Edit: forgot words
  14. The thing I like about Kennys is he knows how to work the count. He strikes out a lot but has always had a nice BB% in the minors.
  15. They DO have padding. Buxton was pretty close to max speed when he hit that wall.
  16. Yeah, I've used it before.....it still applies
  17. You can't get much closer to hitting a ball out of the park than that one.
  18. Just a guess.....but totally looked like something with the knee.
  19. I can get on board with this lineup.
  20. Well....can they get to Hamels again? Can Gibby keep them off balance again?
  21. I could more see Park hiding an injury than using it as an excuse. Player in a new country trying to fit in, trying to succeed, trying not to let down his country. Before people berate the trainers, it could be as simple as that.
  22. A lot of really good at bats today by Kepler, Grossman and even Eddie on his sacrifice fly. Even with all the DSan hate, he had a great game. Drove the ball nicely twice and looked the part at SS. Not much more to say about Ervin that the box score doesn't tell you. Extremely efficient, and got ahead in the count repeatedly.
