  1. Why not just ride off into the sunset after last year's emotional farewell in Seattle then? https://www.seattlepi.com/sports/baseball/article/It-was-time-King-Felix-bids-emotional-farewell-14472284.php I think most veterans, even potential future-HOFers, trying to stave off the end of their playing careers accept minor league contracts with a non-roster invite to ST.
  2. Why is this Target's fault?
  3. I know this is not what any of us were hoping for, but here is a article of '10 Relatively Youthful Bounceback Pitching Targets:' https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/9-relatively-youthful-bounceback-pitching-targets.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29
  4. He's certainly be a great 3B solution if our 1B plan is to move Sano. He's only owed $14.8 million over the next 2 years. Extremely doubtful that AZ has any interest in moving him for prospects. They're clearly not rebuilding after inking Bumgarner to the $85 million deal.
  5. I gotta agree here. He's pitched a total of 14 innings the past 2 seasons. I know the cost of pitching has skyrocketed this offseason, but c'mon....
  6. Anybody else see this yet? After reading the spoiler-free reviews (only 56% at Rotten Tomatoes), I was preparing myself for a letdown. But I thought it was excellent and am very happy with how Abrams ended the Skywalker saga.
  7. Time to start putting your list together for the 14th-annual Celebrity Death Pool! Send me your 2020 list via PM or you can also post it in a reply here. 25 celebrities. Need to be someone fairly well-known. I'll notify you if someone on your list doesn't meet the criteria. Lists are due by Monday, January 6th.
  8. Hoping that the FO can uncover another Odorizzi or two out there. His numbers were decent, serviceable in Tampa Bay and it only took something called Jermaine Palacios to obtain him.
  9. I realize it's just minor league depth, but I just don't understand the Asche, Reinheimer, or Tovar signings. Gotta be others out there with at least a slight bit of a track record or promise.
  10. According to Robert Murray, formerly of The Athletic, the Dodgers and Padres are among the teams showing interest in Indians starter Mike Clevinger. Murray adds, however, that the asking price right now is "sky high." Clevinger was limited to 21 starts in 2019 due to back and ankle injuries, but he registered an excellent 2.71 ERA with 169 strikeouts in 126 innings when healthy, and he also had a 3.05 ERA with 344 strikeouts in 321 2/3 innings between 2017-2018. The 28-year-old right-hander is currently under the Indians' control through the 2022 campaign.
  11. Former Gophers hockey player, coach, broadcaster Doug Woog (coach from 1985-1999), who battled Parkinson's, died at the age of 75.
  12. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Nationals are "actively engaged" in talks with Josh Donaldson. Nightengale adds that the Nats know it will take a four-year contract to land the veteran third baseman.
  13. Tampa Bay is signing LF/3B Yo****omo Tsutsugo for 2 years, $12 million (plus a $2.4 million posting fee).
  14. Great character actor Danny Aiello, probably best known for roles in Do The Right Thing, Moonstruck, and The Godfather Part II, died at the age of 86.
  15. https://www.mlb.com/breaking-news/david-price-red-sox-trade-possibilities Some noteworthy items from the article: - Among the teams in play for Price are the Padres, Cardinals, White Sox and Reds, while the Angels have also been in contact with the Red Sox. - Moving Price might actually be easier, despite the remaining financial commitment and the left wrist injury that cost him most of the final two months of the 2019 season. Prior to the wrist injury, Price was having a terrific year, going 7-2 with a 3.16 ERA through his first 17 starts. While many viewed Price's contract as being a significant impediment to a potential trade, the recent activity on the pitching market has aided Boston's cause.
  16. For some reason I am listening to the audio livestream of the AAA portion of the Rule 5 draft...The Twins have lost 2 minor leaguers in this portion so far: Andriu Marin https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=marin-000and Brian Schales https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=schale000bri
  17. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers and Indians "continue to be engaged in serious trade talks" involving Francisco Lindor. Nightengale says the Indians are seeking both INF prospect Gavin Lux and RHP prospect Dustin May from Los Angeles.
  18. Who knew...But there's already 5 Home Alone movies with different kids and different villains. This'll just be a franchise "reboot," different from a remake.
  19. Marie Fredriksson, lead singer of the band Roxette, who had numerous late 80's/early 90's pop/rock hits such as "The Look," "Listen to Your Heart," "It Must've Been Love," and "Joyride" died at the age of 61 after a 17 year (!) battle with brain cancer.
  20. Also of note, Rene Auberjonois passed away yesterday at age of 79. He's best known as Odo from Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Clayton Endicott on Benson, but also had a number of supporting and voice-over roles such as Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid and Father Mulcahy in the original MASH movie.

  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see Castro join Shelton in Pittsburgh as their starting catcher.
  23. Should add that Mattson is only 1 of 4 minor leaguers heading to Baltimore.
