  1. Maybe fewer and fewer people care to come to rehash the same negativity over and over again.
  2. Risk/rewards. If they can get Outman back to what he was his rookie year it is a win. In terms of the outcome of the season, it did not matter if they had Stewart or not at the point they made the trade.
  3. Risk/reward. If the team can figure out how to. Get Outman back to what he was his rookie year it is a high reward trade. Now the likelihood is small, but more likely than the 48th best prospect in the Dodger organization. In terms of this season, it did not matter if they had Stewart or not. They were not going to make the playoffs.
  4. Perhaps one of the critics could explain how a 33 year old pitcher with years of injuries was going to bring a huge return. The 39 innings he threw were the most he has pitched in this decade. Those 39 innings were also good enough to get him a good raise in arbitration. Despite having more than enough money the Dodgers may let him go. A fringe player like outman is what you get. If the change of scenery theory held true the Twins would have had a decent outfielder.
  5. Control only in terms of a couple years of service. Arbitration is not cost control. One year of success by a player after years of failure is not establishment
  6. 3 hours later I can kind of remember Ashbury saying something about articles adding well
  7. The problem is that after 20, 25, 75 games the others have potential and upside that are talked about. Consistent results, not so much.
  8. Yes, that they have to discus relevancy based on nothing but opinions would aptly describe irrelevant
  9. Tanking is when you trade away your best bullpen pitchers and one of your best hitters in the outfield when you don’t have replacements. Crappy team is what you are left with.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/video/jose-miranda-hbp-exits-the-game https://www.mlb.com/twins/video/jose-miranda-hit-by-pitch-willi-castro-to-2nd after the. Second time is when his batting tanked Went from the 800s to the 500s for the rest of the season. Good catch on your part
  11. Attendance in 2023 would say that even with a higher payroll ad a competitive team, the fans did not come out, so indeed the fas are getting what they paid for
  12. So he saved runs but not outs. Once again the validity of making proclamations off from 1 stat is shown
  13. Rocco to front office would be like Deron Johnson and Dave St. Peter as senior advisors. Rocco is part of the plan. He excites the plan. Any manager this FO hires would be the same way. That is why it would be pointless to fire him. The plan now seems to be play certain players as much as possible to see if you want them for next year. A whole lot of relievers have already been jettisoned. Funderburk and Topa seem to be getting high leverage situations to see if they are a keeper. Sands is not getting those chances. They appear to be confident with him
  14. The dumb take is a team that had holes in the outfield and first base was Sonny Gray away from being competitive.
  15. If you are questioning the veracity of what somebody else says like the post I responded to, the perhaps the poster should include where he found the quote because after all he was just another person on the Internet
  16. Aren’t you someone on a message board. Why should anyone then believe your statement?
  17. The Twins gave him a qualifying offer. If Gray wanted to be here, he would have been.
  18. The architects of the team have not gone anywhere. Several have been promoted. To think Baldelli is going anywhere is ignoring these same architects gave him the extension. The only reason they would fire him is if he criticized the acquisitions. He has not done that. For Baldwin to go anywhere Jim Pohlad would have to fire the whole organization., including Joe. That is not happening until maybe after the next CBA is done.
  19. What did they see in Outman? More of a chance for success than any other player offered? Why did they trade Brock Stewart? The insurance premiums were higher than his salary.
  20. 6 months ago they were touting. Ober as a Cy Young candidate on these pages.
  21. Other is listed as .80 million. Sportrac has the Twins retaining 10 million, The other could be the salaries of anyone on the 40 man roster who are in the minors who have played in the majors as their salaries are higher and count in luxury tax computations. Or it could just be anticipating a rookie making the team
  22. I see league average stats used to say if a payer is good or not. They are worthless for assessing a player’s skill. Look at the sheer number of poor performance by minor league call ups, backup catchers, half of the regular catchers and the player on a contract that the team plays because they feel that they have to and you can see a very large population of players. Sort stats by position for batting until you get that 30 that have played the most. The median player will be far better than league average
  23. Well, ask yourself, does any of these jobs look like they. Are producing anything.
