  1. Enjoy your circlejerk ThePuck and TheLeviathan. When you're "done," will you maybe move on? You'd make great Yankees fans.
  2. Aw. Poor Phillies. Also, I'm just messing with you (So)VD.
  3. What's this about venereal disease?
  4. Does that article say (I'm not an insider) what "contention" means? Contending in the AL central is different from contending for a World Series. I think the Twins are going to be super interesting to watch in 2015 and 2016 what with all the young, developing talent. If they can put it together, the team could be scary good with very little money. A lot of ifs, of course.
  5. This is exactly what I was thinking. As a fan, as a season ticket holder, I am capable of seeing the difference between 2 weeks now and a whole year later. If he's good enough, I want the whole year later. THAT is the fan-friendly move.
  6. This. Oh, and also this.
  7. Although I expect him to be shopped hard at the deadline if he does well, I would be interested in the possibility of an extension if Parmelee doesn't perform or does fine in right field, and Morneau takes less money. I like Morneau a lot, so my judgment may be colored.
  8. This is so true, and it's why I love these kinds of predictions. Any idiot can say that Mauer will be good or that the Twins won't win 100 games. I'm much more interested in thinking outside the box. What could happen? Why?
  9. This Teo thing is all kinds of ****ed up. And I don't believe for a second that he was the "victim" of a hoax. He and his closest family and friends were the perpetrator. The cat's out of the bag (which they probably never counted on post-"death"), and it ain't going back in.
  10. Why don't we just trade Butera straight up for Pujols? Come on man. Every damn time.
  11. Meh. I disagree. I also "adamantly" disagree about the importance of this issue, which was really my point in the first place. I'd rather not argue semantics. I'm now off to read about how the front office is incompetent in literally every other thread.
  12. So you telling your wife "I am adamant that I have the last piece of pie" is somehow different than you telling your wife "I demand that I hae the last piece of pie." Man, you must be hard to communicate with.
  13. In previous years, it was get there at 2 AM or don't bother. Or you could be cynical and get a wheelchair. I swear that 90% of the Twins fans he meets are in wheelchairs, and the people who actually waited get the shaft. How hard is it to wait in line in a wheelchair? It's not like you'll be standing... Anyway, last year they went to a lottery system, where only people who won the lottery (1 in 6 chance, I think) got the chance to meet him. If your color was called, you still had to rush to the line and wait.
  14. 1) Being "adamant" that he deserves a legitimate shot is pretty much "demanding" that he deserves a legitimate shot. Let's not play the sophistry game. 2) Dozier got a legitimate shot. 80+ games in the bigs means perform or get sent down. Not being brought up at all means not getting a shot.
  15. I think we need to take a deep breath and ask whether the system is broken. I happen to think that the baseball hall of fame is far better than the hall of fame of any other major sport, mainly because it's so ridiculously hard to get into. Maybe we could reconsider who votes, but I don't think I'd change how they vote.
  16. Somehow I don't feel a great sense of loss. On the other hand, if he can come back healthy, Rochester will have a decent pitcher for our $5 million investment. So not all bad.
  17. Pretty much this. Lohse is not good enough to justify it.
  18. You are just scraping the bottom of the barrel these days.
  19. Literally nobody said that Rule 5 was a waste of time. Literally. Nobody. Go back and run a search. Get over your ideology and listen for a second.
  20. Strange epithet for people who accept the fact that it ain't over till it's over. But you go on belittling those you won't listen to. I'm used to it.
  21. Are you friggin' kidding me!? This whole idea is so stupid that I can barely get my head around it. 1) You're basing your entire argument on 7 damn games? Law of large numbers; small sample size; etc. This is just dumb. 2) You want clutch over consistent? Fine, I'll trade your fantasy team Pablo Sandoval for Joe Mauer straight up. 3) He doesn't wilt under the pressure of batting races because he's, ya know, won three of the damn things. 4) I can't. I'm done.
  22. This was supposed to be good-natured ribbing, but the internet filters tone (a big problem for me, apparently). But it was supposed to be ribbing nonetheless. After all, it's ironic that you assume that Terry Ryan has his mind made up on things before he consults the evidence. Since you have no evidence for this assumption, it seems as though you have your mind made up on it before consulting the evidence. If it makes you feel better, I think a willingness to admit when one is wrong is a hugely important trait.
  23. Just shocking. This Cabrera fellow must be a terrible hitter.
  24. So kind of like you when you come to TwinsDaily?
