1. I'd welcome the trade, but I don't believe we could get them for that group of players.
2. Rosario is playing left field tonight in the AFL. Has he played in the outfield in the previous games? Does this mean anything?

4. You are awesome. Thank you, Bob! These have been really interesting and fun reads. Thank you for your work and insight.
5. No offense, this post makes no sense. It seems you are very upset with the current, and recent past, state of the Twins. That is understandable. The Young Pohlads are not doing anything much different than their father. Some players leave or get traded and do better elsewhere. This happens to every team. You could argue that the Twins are not doing a good job recognizing or cultivating talent, and you may have a case. However, this is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I respect it but disagree.
6. Cincinnati is not loyal...
7. Just singled in the third.
8. Many day that September numbers don't really count because the other players are often callups themselves, but in Pinto's case, he was playing against many teams trying to clinch playoff births. He did a heck of a job against some great pitchers. With that said, I still think I would go Thielbar, Pressly, Arcia, then Pinto.
9. Is it so difficult to make roster moves without trying to be clever? This is a real question, not rhetorical. Is there a huge benefit to letting guys go in small groups throughout the offseason instead of just sitting in a room for 3 or 4 work days and say, "ok, these are the guys who have no future with this club. We may try and bring some back on minor league deals but if someone else scoops them up, there will be 20 other guys that can essentially give us the same thing (filler with no potential). We will outright/release/waiver them tomorrow. Good work everyone." Can this not happen or is it another unwritten baseball rule?
10. I understand he can still return. I assumed (probably prematurely) that he would elect free agency and see if he can get a major league deal or a minor league deal with a more developed team given his age.
11. I'm happy with the Roenicke move. I really didn't think he was that bad this season, but I would much rather give his playing time to Tonkin (or several other relievers who showed a lot in the minors) this next season. Good luck to him elsewhere, though. He seemed like a good guy (which is why I'm also surprised and hopefully with his outrighting).
12. Firstly, Seth, great article. I truely appreciate your opinion and your writing.

With that said, I disagree. I respect Gardy and I don't mind seeing him manage again, but what players have consistently continued to develop under him? Players don't seem to be reaching their potential. Dozier has shown more this season but how many people feel comfortable with him continuing to improve?

The pitchers have been terrible for the most part besides the bullpen. Is this on Anderson? Who has gotten better under him? Who has left and improved? This is not just the last 3 years this has been for many years.

Maybe all this is on the front office. What seems to be holding this team back is philosophy for acquiring and developing talent. Yes our minors are showing alot of promise but will that continue to be the case when they reach the majors?
13. It maybe be too early to truely guesstimate our 5th overall pick, but we have had nothing to complain about 4 out of the last 5 years from our first round selections. The one blemish maybe Levi Micheal and even with him it's to early to tell. The other 4 were: Kohl Stewart, Byron Buxton, Alex Wimmers, and Kyle Gibson. Odds are we will have another prospect to get excited about in just a few months!
14. This is what keeps us going, Seth.
15. It goes by last years overall record. Cubs were worse than us last year.
16. With the cubs firing their manager; which team will have a quicker turn around, us or them? Obviously there are many different variables that there is no way to fairly compare the two. But none-the-less it will be fun to see the two play out. I hope we have a new pitching coach... I'm fine with Gardy coming back.
17. It appears to me the biggest difference was new coaches..... Fire everyone! Just a joke, but I do believe that a new staff could make a huge impact. With that said, I don't believe that Ryan is the kind of GM that will hire a new coaching staff that doesn't believe in what he believes. Basically, what Ryan believes is what Gardy believes; so, I believe that Gardy will still be around, or his replace will be Gardy number 2. Therefore, no big cellar dweller to playoff contention for us, I'm afraid. Good for Cleveland, though!
18. Ill save my full blue print for later in the offseason. It will involve going heavily at the IFA players, a couple bounce back starters, and mostly just sitting on my hands the rest of the offseason. I believe the real work of switching from rebuild to contention starts at the next trade deadline.
19. I don't believe Duensing will be on the roster next season. We have plenty of arms in the bullpen that could be forcing Duensing out of it. It may be that starting is Duensing's only way of remaining with the Twins.
20. I honestly hope you are right. I don't want us to do too much and create more average to below average clutter when we can just use our already cluttered top of the minors to fill in if need be. There is no reason, when you have prospects getting close (mid next season) to add more players to the mix. Unless of course the player added is a true, clear cut upgrade at the position.
21. This. Thank you!! The Twins front office needs to stop looking at individual caps on what they are willing to spend on a player and start holding themselves to a stricter overall payroll dollar amount. If that number is 100 million there is no reason why the Twins can't over spend (on an individual bases not on an overall payroll) on a couple of these IFAs if they believe that they could positively impact our team. If the players flop, big deal. They were still within their overall budget. There really is no reason to not dish out enough money to bring in Abreu to play first when we don't have a lock to start first next season. Same with Guerrero. I don't call for coaches or GMs jobs, but if we get out bid for Tanaka and he goes elsewhere and looks close to dominate I will be writing articles about holding scouts and the GM accountable for continually failing to make the necessary moves to improve this team. I don't call for jobs because I know it doesn't do any good. No one with control will care what I have to say, but I will feel compelled to say it none-the-less.
22. I like to take these ideas and see how they effect the rest of the lineup moving forward. Would Twins fans be comfortable with a August lineup of: CF- Presley 2B- Rosario RF- Mauer DH- Willingham 3B- Sano LF- Arcia C- Pinto/Herrmann 1B- Collabello/Parmelee SS- Dozier Bench Plouffe Florimon Herrmann/Pinto Collabello/Parmelee I think Doumit will be gone by the trade deadline. I don't mean to turn this into a lineup thread. My question is, would people be happy with this lineup or one similar to it? Does Mauer in RF make us a better team?
23. I said the second he was hired that he would be managing the major league team the next season. Dougie has the attitude and the youth this team needs. With that said, I don't think Gardy is going anywhere anymore.
