Boston Red Sox - I lived in Boston for a few years when I was younger and loved to go to Fenway Park. One of my fondest memories of my college years (those parts I can remember:)) was going to a doubleheader at Fenway - Red Sox & Twins (this was back when they actually played two games back-to-back, not day-night). The Twins won both.
As much as I would like to believe, I'm going to go with ESPN on this one. To believe more assumes not only that the Twins make a massive surge, but that every other team in the AL Central plays poorly the rest of the season. My guess is that either Chicago or Detroit is going to go on a good run sooner or later and put this thing away.
If they wanted a leftie, they didn't have any other choice. The only lefties Rochester has are French (a starter), Maloney ('nuff said), Thielbar (who just got promoted to AAA), and Robertson.
I think Duensing being limited to 60 was just for that first start, because he wasn't used to pitching more than a couple of innnings per game. They're going to increase his pitch count as he goes.
Are we sure this will lead to more access? If the RSNs don't have exclusivity, they offer a lower bid for local rights. It then comes down to whether the amount they (MLB clubs) lose collectively is more than or less than what they get from mlb.tv. If it's more than what mlb.tv can provide, they'll just axe the service completely. There is no constitutional right to watch baseball over the internet.
Agreed that nobody looks good in this type of case.
Have to wonder if part of the reason was that they didn't have much confidence in the Rochester roster right now.
Are we sure it was the Twins pushing Capps out when he didn't want to play? From what I've heard, it's the opposite - Capps wanted to play and it was the Twins decision to hold him out last week - probably justifiably we now learn.
