  1. Just saw on the MiLB website that Waldrop has been recalled from Rochester and Manship optioned.
  2. They can have the pants, but did we have to throw in the sandwich? Those things are good!
  3. It's not as if we have a doubleheader coming on Saturday or anything...
  4. Well, you know what they say - even a bad day at the ballpark is better than... nah, I can't pull this one off.
  5. There is no good answer to this one. If we try to trade him, we probably wouldn't get anything decent in return, for the reasons mentioned in the article. That begs the question, What's the point? I have no interest in trading for spare parts in the hope a miracle happens and one actually develops into a major leaguer. On the other hand, if we try to sign him to an extension, I just can't see him keeping up this pace. Sooner or later Bad Frankie will return. And unless we offer $12.5M (which would be ludicrous) we won't get a comp pick if he becomes a free agent.
  6. Fair enough, but it's too late and I'm too tired to worry about being PC.
  7. Do you say "toe-may-to" or "toe-mah-to"?
  8. Could you see my tongue poking out my cheek?
  9. Not necessarily. They're only 8-1/2 back. There are 13 weeks left in the season. If they make up 1 game a week they should be OK. And over that same period, I expect the stock market to double, peace to break out over the earth, and an end to global warming.
  10. Kinda like Bernard Malamud's "The Natural", wasn't it? (The book, not the movie).
  11. Oh, how I wish Parmelee had been playing regularly and had a chance to find his groove - instead of coming off the bench cold in a situation when the game is on the line.
  12. Yeah, I do admit the Vikings top the list. We had season tickets when I was a kid, and I saw more than one good season end in a Super Bowl loss. First franchise to lose 4 super bowls. And let's not forget the 15-1 season that ended with a short missed field goal from a placekicker that hadn't missed a field goal all year.
  13. Those are the exceptions that prove the rule - and in 1987 I wasn't here anyway. I was floating on a boat in the Persian Gulf.
  14. That's the joy of being, not just a Twins fan, but a fan of Minnesota sports in general. We have a 52 year history of being teased yet ultimately left frustrated.
  15. On another topic - for those who follow the Twins farm system. Matthew Summers just pitched a complete game shutout for Beloit. Nice to see a Twins pitcher do that, at any level.
  16. I'm actually kind of enjoying watching Hendriks work tonight. Probably his best start of the season. Now if only we could get him some support.
  17. Actually, they were. They were interviewing the president of SABR, hence the discussion, and they had an extended discussion on QS & WHIP. Granted, die-hard statisticians have long since moved passed those stats, but for many casual fans it's new information.
  18. What was wrong with that? There are many casual viewers, who don't post on Twins message boards, who haven't been exposed to SABRmetrics yet.
  19. Were you watching, Ben? That's how you advance on a wild pitch.
  20. I think he was expecting it to carom back into the field, and it didn't. It hit the back wall and died.
  21. I concur, or at the very least let him play a few games - it's not as if Morneau can hit off of lefties this year. Parmelee, in his brief stint up here, hit lefties decently.
  22. I've had the same problem the past couple of days - using IE9 on Windows 7. Never a problem before yesterday. I switch to compatibility version and then switch back and it solves problem.
  23. I thought with waivers every team in the same league as the DFAer had a shot first, before the clubs from the other league did. Has that changed?
  24. OK, I just got back from the game and read this thread. My advice is to lighten up, everyone! They won! Frankie pitched a decent game, the Twins got to Peavy a little bit early before he settled in, and in spite of poor hitting with RISP that could have put it out of reach, they still held on. And let's declare a general amnesty for Butera, just for 24 hours, for novelty sake if nothing else.
