  1. Hey, he's the one guy on the roster who has the legitimate ability to do a Tovar. Should be good for novelty in September when the Twins are 20 games back.
  2. No, he went to 3rd when Deduno threw a pick-off attempt away at 1st. Then, the next batter, a wild pitch brought him home.
  3. That was one of the ugliest 1-run innings I've seen pitched.
  4. Look at the one bright side - at least this time they didn't wait 5 days to make a decision on whether or not to DL the guy, thus shorthanding the roster.
  5. And just like that, reality sets in, and we all realize that last night was a dream, fleeting and ephemeral, as all dreams are.
  6. I also think Mauer is overpaid - and that doesn't make me a "Mauer-hater." I actually think he's done well for the team this year, but it was still a fool's contract, as much as for the length as for the amount. The think the Twins knew it, too, but they were boxed in by circumstances outside their control - just like Drew Brees and New Orleans this year.
  7. Don't know what he adds, other than being 10 years younger than Carroll. Wouldn't take him over Casilla. Maybe wait and see if Boston sends him to Pawtucket or releases him - then we could sign him to a minor league contract, see if he still has the flash he showed last year.
  8. I would guess 20 HR/80 RBI, although I personally think he's done just fine this year - what you can reasonably expect. He's never going to earn $23M/year - we need to move past that as fans.
  9. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the earned run rules. Diamond isn't reponsible for that run, and he get's charged with it. And in the 1st inning, Tillman gets off with 1 earned run, even though he gave up 2 hits and a walk following the error.
  10. C'mon, Denny and Josh - talk to each other!
  11. Accompanying transactions: Evan Bigley promoted to Rochester, Michael Holliman put on the DL.
  12. Sweet! Baltimore starter goes 0.2 innings.
  13. Still gotta work on that defense, though - too many errors on straight-forward plays.
  14. Can it be possibly? Are the fickle gods of baseball actually on our side tonight?
  15. No knocks on the defense this inning! Way to shut the door.
  16. Wow! Revere with the highlight reel catch of the year!
  17. Is that the parent club's responsibility? I would think it would be the local farm team (Elizabethton) and whoever owns the stadium - in this case, the city of Elizabethton.
  18. LEN3 said it would be 4-6 weeks back on June 16th, so probably some time in the next couple of weeks, but then he'll have to get back in pitching shape, etc. I would be surprised to see him pitch competitively before August. No inside information; just a guess.
  19. Yes. This is what we were all hoping for back in April; a good run leading to trade value. His past record does not allow us the luxury of thinking "this time will be different." Let's not forget he has motivation now - a new contract; once signed, then what?
  20. If I had to pick between the two, and the offers were the same, I would trade Willingham and keep Span. Span can be part of a winning lineup for years into the future, whereas Willingham is on the wrong side of the bell-curve when it comes to career longevity.
  21. Do you really think they'll move that many, or is that a wish list. I doubt they would trade Morneau, although personally I am very open to the idea. I also doubt they will move Casilla, at least not mid-season.
  22. Capps will be gone, and probably Liriano too. If Pavano had been healthy and effective, I'd add him to the list, but I think his injury will cool interest, since he is a free agent at the end of the year - he probably can't add to a contender this year, so teams will wait to see how he bounces back and possibly offer him a contract after the year. I think there will be offers for Span and Willingham, but I'm not certain what we will be offered in return will be enough to justify a trade.
