  1. Where's Chris Sale when we really need him?
  2. Call-ups are getting easier to predict than resultant performance. Meyer should have been called up in 2014, and I sure hope you haven't written off any positive predictions on Sano already.
  3. You can't put much salt to any results in April in Rochester, NY. The gametime temp was 33.1 degrees, with a windchill temp of 27.2 degrees. Hard to ask for much better from a kid from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where the average winter low temperature is 72 degrees, and all-time record low temps are in the 60s. https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KROC/2016/04/10/DailyHistory.html?req_city=Rochester&req_state=NY&reqdb.zip=14627&reqdb.magic=4&reqdb.wmo=99999
  4. IMO, this "solution" of a positional swap should have been obviously inevitable back in 2014. provided TR was as hellbent on retaining Plouffe until he was elgiible for free agency as it now appears to have been the case. And then, as a bonus, they got Sano's lost TJ season that allowed them even more time to make these big positional decisions, and they still got it completely wrong.
  5. What does it look like, you say? Not very pretty. How about a line like this for Rosario through the first 6 games: .200/.200/.300/(.500) K%- 45% BB%- 0%
  6. Isaac Newton would have a bone to pick with you, being he established a basic law of physics and everything: F = ma F- Force m- mass a- acceleration
  7. Two ill-advised and futile dives for line drives will do that for ya. And Rosario is in the midst of the Santana sophomore curse at the plate. Even then, still hard to see how Kepler gets much of a chance to seize Rosario's job. And especially since Danny Santana is likely to take Buxton's job if Buxton's plate woes continue.
  8. Great post. For once, I'd love to see the same kind of decisiveness shown in promoting Kepler being applied to sweeping action taken to address the looming bullpen disaster. FWIW, it was nice to see Jepsen pick himself up off of the floor today, he threw some 96 MPH much-better-placed peas today, but really, he's not the pitcher who gets you to the postseason in the traditional role as the main set-up guy.
  9. Let's give Steve some love for today's update! Very well written article on short notice.
  10. I dunno, Nunez took a 95MPH+ pitch to his throwing wrist- it didn't look like a glancing blow, either, methinks he might be limited to pinch runner duties for the next few days. assuming the X-Rays are negative. It will be interesting to see if the Twins are confident that he can play through this for at least a game or two as the only back-up infielder on the 25-man.
  11. Molitor in the pregame didn't exactly sound like he was singing Kepler's praises as a prospect here to seize a starting job, rather, little more than as a "capable defensive replacement in late-inning situations."
  12. Not calling up Polanco means this is strictly an OF move, it seems like everyone's on the hot seat. Arcia didn't exactly help himself any in the field on Saturday, perhaps the Twins think he can pass through waivers should Kepler shine in this "tryout". Buxton's struggles at the plate seem to suggest best being addressed in AAA- hopefully over the very short term.
  13. Yup, me too. very un-TR-like... I applaud it. Now, how about some similar chances taken on bullpen prospects?
  14. Shag-wah and Turner laying down "Promote Me!" markers in Chattanooga?
  15. That's 3 straight strong starts from the Miracle elite SPs-- A juggernaut in the making? 13 first-pitch strikes for Jay. Speaking of putting up some good numbers... how's this for an under-the-radar one-game, lights-out-efficient stat line?: Luke Bard- 2 IP, 20 pitches, 18 strikes, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K Any word on Bard's velo?
  16. Spot on, I'm already there.. Buck's K% is now sitting at 67%. He must be the all-time leader in 0-2 pitch count percentage. He's probably got 15 days to figure things out or time to figure things out in a Red Wings uni for a spell. In the meantime, this is the opportunity of a lifetime for Kepler, and puts Arcia on notice and with a sense of urgency that now's the time to put up or shut up (and Rosario as well). Gotta give the Twins some credit here, in the recent past they just as easily might have activated a Mastroianni, Schafer or Beresford to take D-San's spot in this situation. Polanco's actually on the roster, and has been called up previously on just such occasions- Nunez becoming the extra outfielder, not this time.
  17. Man, you are on one streak of creativity...
  18. At least you didn't use "they're"... so there's that... please don't ever change.
  19. Is it legal to want to marry this post?
  20. Careful, too much truth for a game thread.
  21. You answered your own question. Because he wasn't available last night in a situation that he seems to be the current best option for him to be filling.
  22. Well, using him in extended innings situations, twice, made him not available last night in a very winnable game against the champs. I'm with you on Berrios and Duffey, I'm just not sure that they offer what May offers right now, namely, a clearly superior option to the back end of the rotation options.
  23. Like Seth said, still only 19 years of age, let him settle in and watch for him to move up the order pretty quickly. Excited about this kid's chances to exceed already-lofty expectations.
