  1. If they want some minor leaguers then a trade is possible. I don't think the Twins should really be interested much in Capuano. He's a below average pitcher who hasn't pitched outside the NL. 92+ERA the past 3 seasons.
  2. It's early December and the Twins have 38 players on the 40 man roster. I'd say they have 6 scrubs on it as of now. Tim Wood, Josh Roenicke, Alex Burnett, Drew Butera, Eduardo Escobar, and Brian Dozier. It doesn't look like Butera, Burnett, or Escobar are going away soon and I'm not sure what the thoughts on Dozier are for the Twins. The Twins just got Wood (forgive my wording) and Roenicke. Question is, how likely is it that the Twins will sign more than 2 players and later on waive someone?
  3. So the scrubs on the 28th/29th (Did the Red Sox outsuck us?) best pitching team are good enough for the 30th best. I am so glad Manship is gone!! He was my least favorite last season.
  4. Don't know why but I feel the urge to say "V'Animal" instead of "Vanimal".
  5. Agreed, Mastroianni is a much better base stealer. His SB/CS ratio is exceptional. It's fun to watch him run because he is pure hustle. Mastroianni just has to hit for him to be valuable. He's been able to do it in the minors and he did last season, so I think it's a good bet that he does.
  6. Give me Buster Posey straight up from the Giants and it's a deal.
  7. The Draft Picks that were in Beloit from this year were: Bax Taylor Rogers Melotakis Zach Jones Bax and Rogers will likely start in Cedar Rapids to start, while Melotakis and Jones should start in the Fort. Mason and Zach both sit around 96-99 and seem to have closing potential. One of the Dodgers scouts in Beloit said that if Jones was in the Dodgers system, that he would be moving very fast up to the majors. I like Melotakis more than Jones. He's left handed, younger, and a little taller. While it means nothing, he did perform better too in 30> Innings.
  8. I really don't understand your affection for junky contact pitchers. Pelfrey, Lannan, Nick Blackburn circa 2012, and Jason Marquis are all extremely similar numbers wise. High WHIP, Bad SO/BB, and 4's ERA. They're all #5s at best when they luck out and when they don't you'll be screaming at the TV. Are those guys all bad? I guess not, but they aren't good by any means. They were non-tendered for a reason, however, and that's because they aren't even worth 4+ million. Pitching is the last area that a FO should ever cut corners on budget wise. Right now, Minnesota has plenty of money to sign two very good pitchers. The Twins need front line, good starting pitchers. Signing those first two would be more of the same. If Pelfrey pitches for us next season I will feel lowballed and backstabbed by the Pohlads.
  9. Like Techmo said, the only way Washington would have owned his rights is if they offered arbitration. Otherwise he is a free agent and you obviously can't trade free agents. Arb would have been around 5.5 million and no one thinks he's worth that much. Best to re-negotiate with him for a more appropriate price. His ERAs are good, but he doesn't strike anyone out and walks a lot of batters. His WHIP is also terrible. I could really see him getting thrown around in the AL. I think he has Jason Marquis written all over him.
  10. Definitely the Revere trade as of now. The Twins got a #3 in Worley and a possible #2 in May. Although, I would say the best player overall of the 3 is Meyer. Meyer is also the highest risk and I could realistically see him as a power reliever. Alex Meyer would have to pitch like a true ace for the Span trade to be better.
  11. Really, really great read. Solid baseball analysis and I've heard a lot of people complaining about him. His xFIP has been fine too and there is not much reason to believe he'll regress in Target. Pitching in the AL may be the most difficult part of the transition. Not only is Worley cheap, but he's under team control till 2018 as well.
  12. The Twins are missing infielders, but having the most top 100 prospects has to make you think they're in the top 5. Not a lot of large framed pitchers towards the bottom, but we do have some good rookie ballers. I think a lot of teams don't have very good catchers and I wouldn't say the Twins are terrible in that area. 4-5 range I'm feeling overall, but a lot of the top 15 are pretty much major league ready.
  13. Serious question. How are any of these scrubs better than Slama?
  14. I think the baseball world explodes if Mauer is traded. There is no way we should trade him. He's a Hall of Famer and should be a career Twin.
  15. Don't think Dozier is the real deal and Harrison will probably have to move from 3rd. We need a position for Sano too, but those look like the right guys to break us back.
  16. Wow that's pretty great. I would think so too, but am unsure the bottom of it is good. It's your best players that make it or break it though, so it may be the greatest.
  17. Where do the Twins now rank with the addition of two more top 100 prospects? The pitching pipeline looks mountains better and I wouldn't say it's fixed per say, but it's got to be around average. May and Meyer are both great pitchers towards the top and at the bottom there could be some great future players too. It's up to the Twins to draft pitching studs and end the "pitch to contact" notion in order to prevent this crisis from happening again. As of now, I feel the Twins have a top 5 system in the MLB. Thoughts? My rankings for the top 15 in our minors 1. Miguel Sano 2. Byron Buxton 3. Aaron Hicks 4. Alex Meyer 5. Oswaldo Arcia 6. Trevor May 7. Eddie Rosario 8. Kyle Gibson 9. J.O Berrios 10. Max Kepler-Rozycki 11. Joe Benson 12. Travis Harrison 13. Jason Wheeler 14. Nate Roberts 15. Daniel Santana
  18. Twins fans here never really put much value or thought into Ben Revere's future here. With all the other great outfielders in the minor league system, he really didn't have much of a chance. Now with 2/3 the 2012 OF gone, what is the plan for 2013 as of now? The Twins have a lot of money they can spend. Like Ben Revere, Vance Worley is a making next to nothing baseball wise. We just added a pitcher without really even spending any money! Terry Ryan now has at least 25 million to divvy up between 2 starting pitchers and could even stand to improve the lineup. If you want a write-up from a neutral source. Here it is. http://is.gd/G0BNsP I loved this article and it is appropriately titled "Phillies Overpay for Revere" As for the 2013 Lineup, I'm picturing something like this Mastroianni 8 (Don't think Carroll has the necessary speed) Mauer 2 (He HAS to bat 2nd now, right?!) Willingham 7 Morneau 3 Youkilis 5 Doumit DH Parmelee 9 Plouffe 4 Carroll 6 Now the only non-HR hitter we have is Jamey Carroll!!!
  19. I think it's a two horse race between Benson and Mastroianni. Hicks will have his time, but not this soon.
  20. Another Pro: He can lay down a mean bunt
  21. Marcum is a front line type of pitcher and I've been hoping for him all offseason. He's expensive, but not too expensive.
  22. Joakim? More like himJoak!!! Nah, but behind the bad humor he's a good sign.
